Don’t be trivial,Kavindele tells Siliya

Former vice president Enoch Kavindele talking to journalists in Lusaka

Former Vice President Enoch Kavindele has advised Education Minister Dora Siliya to stop trivializing issues over his condemnation of the sale of ZAMTEL.

And Mr. Kavindele says his criticism of the government is not as a result of government’s decision to deny him a license to operate a mobile phone network, Vodacom.

Speaking in a telephone interview with QFM, Mr. Kavindele says it is wrong for Ms Siliya to base the issue of the sale of ZAMTEL on personalities. He said his condemnation of the sale of the Parastatal Company does not mean that he is obsessed with her.

He said the matter has nothing to do with her looks whether she is a good looking woman or not.
Mr Kavindele says he is not the only person who has condemned the sale of ZAMTEL and therefore Ms Siliya should not think that the issue is based on personalities.

And asked on whether his reaction to the sale is emanating from government’s refusal give him a mobile phone operating license, Mr. Kavindele stated that his criticism has nothing to do with that.
He also dismissed Ms Siliya’s assertions that if he was granted the license to operate Vodacom, it would have hindered the operations of ZAMTEL.

Mr Kavindele explained that Vodacom was meant to operate on its own without creating a hindrance on other telecommunication companies.

He has also dismissed the excuse by government that it does not have money to recapitalize ZAMTEL, leading to its decision to sell it. He said government has adequate resources to recapitalize ZAMTEL.

  1. Who the **** does this Kavindele think he is? IS IT FINE FOR HIM TO GET STATE LAND AND BUILD A RAIL LINE . . .JUST LIKE THAT WITHOUT GOING THROUGH TENDER….but its wrong for others….****ed up reasoning

  2. I stand to be corrected but here s the little that i know;Henry ,RB s son is the one who introduced RP Capital to Dora who was Zamtel minister,RP Capital are later given the contract to be govt.adivors to this Zamtel transcation which earns RP Capital about $12 million.

  3. Govt owes Zmtel billions of Kwacha. Dora is a chalatan..empty tin, and of no morals. If kavindele was allowed licence he would have created weathy for himself and Zambia which is very good. Dora would prefer foreigners get richer instead of zambian like kavindele who would have used their own money or borrowed to create a compnay partially or wholly owned by zambians. No wonder HH keeps suprising them with his money making Brains

  4. Siliya is like the worst looking woman i’ve seen in ages, she’s always oilly and how come she’s now MMD and gov spokes person, she should just mind her business on improving Zambian education system which is crappy

  5. I for one am not a fan of Kavindele as a politician but were it comes to personal business-he is tops, no wonder he looks like popo’s father in nigerian movies. If Dora had to argue about her looks and that some one in the skin of Enock K is obssessed with her, i think she is more bonfyad than the sistele on addis ababa road. May be thats why she colours her lips red as an indication that she is one of those.Tho, she has no sharp.
Dora, is so keen to defend the deal because there lies more than the eye can see and read. This is a mistake we make, if we have millionaires who can afford to run our firms, lets give them so that this money stays within zambian unlike foregners like GreenN who will end up donating it to OSAMA or so.I guess come 50yrs, africa will be undeveloped with this…

  6. It’s all sad to see that since the death of his brother in-law former UNITA leader General Dr. Jonas Savimbi, Enoch Kavindele Sr. has never been a normal person. I recall how he kept framing up and insulting late Mwanawasa especially after his South African oil scam was blocked and blown off leading to his unceremonial dismissal. I think blood diamond money is haunting him. He has realized that even after Savimbi, his then deputy General Antonio Dembo and Pedro “Tito” Chingunji are gone, he has no safe haven from top brass UNITA Generals after their money. He is too desperate to meet the terms of General Abreu Kamorteiro, then UNITA secretary general Paulo Lukamba – better known as General Gato, Marcial Dachala, Isaias Samakuva, Unita’s former representative in Paris, and Abel…

  7. Kavindele has realized that even after Savimbi, his then deputy General Antonio Dembo and Pedro “Tito” Chingunji are gone, he has no safe haven from top brass UNITA Generals after their money. He is too desperate to meet the terms of General Abreu Kamorteiro, then UNITA secretary general Paulo Lukamba – better known as General Gato, Marcial Dachala, Isaias Samakuva, Unita’s former representative in Paris, and Abel Chivukuvuku, a current member of parliament. Swallow the fire baba on your own.

  8. It’s payback time baba. Blood money from Savimbi’s diamonds vested in the now embattled KB Davis, Woodgate Holdings, Mukulumpe estates and the failed Kavindele Solwezi farm government indicated in 2004 of repossessing it for his failure to develop tells it all about Kavindele.

  9. Red Card-abena Libala South says: # 4. That is the issue indeed. how the selction of RP who is going to be paid so much was done. I do not really see a problem with the involvement of one Henry Banda because as a citizen he is free to engage in business. This is whether or not he is the Presidents son. the problem will arise where he gains unfair advantage. I agree with Gerage Bush that Kavindele is quite a business man . He is quite ahead of most Zambians but most of his projects lately hav been failures

  10. Dear Colleagues, please be informed that Rupiah Bwezani Banda has terminated the contract of Dr. Musonda.

  11. hey n° 4 don’t be angry with, it’s funny to see that there is a new government ministry
    ZAMTEL MINISTRY. LOL

  12. Kavindele may not be a among the best politicianz around, but he iz certainly one of the very few shrewd and “clean” busnessmen Zambia can boast of.

  13. What did Kavindele do for embattled Zamtel which has been a shell of a company throught his temure as commerce minister and republican VP? The only strategy the country has come to know Kavindele for is to give away KCM at a song of US $25 million. He should tell us if KCM and all its assets was worth $ 25 million dollars only.

  14. Senior Citizen, can you please discuss the issue at hand if you have the capacity to. I don’t see what all these people you mention around Kavindele have to do with the sale of ZAMTEL. You sound like someone’s frustrated old wife.

  15. Alaa-Bee’s thinking is jst appalling, why fire Gun trotting Musonda and replace him with a person he fired Namulambe earlier?:-?:-?:-?

  16. ba kavindele once foolishly rich now foolishly poor you had your time woodgate holdings monopoly computer company but you blew it with jeff samukonga. you have sold everything you had worth selling. north western railways and vodacom can you manage it poor you. abena zambia mulakonkuluda. what has RB got to do with henry banda. zamtel is a damn good deal and who ever has pulled it is a damn good bussiness. kamo nibo, dora I admire your beauty and grey matter. some fools think its just beaty tell them you have a degree in masscom which kavindelle hasnt got. if you got a kickback from the deal its your time to enjoy kano nibo. hakainde was at one time rich not anymore bcos of selling mines, iters hotel and lima bank. at least the money has gone back to zambia thru his failed presidential cam

  17. kavindele chalo chakupesha. ukatuka banga bakaele. lintu wasungilepo tawale vokavoka nomba nsala yakalipa. at least walila all these years. leka kaice ka dora nako ni time yakako efya landa mozegator. dora musuma nokosambilila alisambilila. she is reaping what she sowed its her time. remember her from your small screen pretty dora reading news now its her time to go big time. if she doest invest like you mr kavindele enock chipalo she will only blame herself. Ba MMD11 numberplate dont cry ova spilt milk go down on your knees and pray to God to help you in your tribulations. you can even go kuli RB eat your vomit in shame he will forgive you ask gabriel namulambe he begged rb after suffering for only a short period and he is back as junior minister. mpombo also hunger pangs have hit his bel

  18. Hey Bloggers, this is unrelated to the story, but I have a dilemma…I have an emergency to travel to Zambia in 3 days. My passport is the old one- somehow my new one was “lost by fedex” and I understand it is bask on LSK- are there any consequences using my old passport?

  19. Senior Citizen, Which school did you go to? Stick to the issue at hand not going round the topic like a headless chicken. The article is about Kavindele reminding the dull education minister that she is not a news reader any more but a minister who should look at issues objectively and not trivialise them.

Senior Citizen (in fact junior), you are acting like Dora who signed the contract before reading it. Read the article first then contribute.

  20. # 26, i was recently traveling to Zambia and the chaps at the Zambian High Commission scared me that i woudnt be allowed to travel on the old passport and forced me to pay for ‘an emergency travel document’.
Turned out the chaps were just bluffing. No one asked me why i was using the old passport except for the guy at immigration in lsk who told me that i wouldnt be allowed out of the country with the old when when going back. So just go and worry about the new one when you get to Zed!

  21. Shooter Musonda has been fired. President Rupiah Banda has relieved the Deputy Minister of Health Solomon Musonda of his duties with immediate effect.
And president Banda has appointed Gabriel Namulambe, Member of Parliament of Mpongwe Constituency, as new Deputy Minister for Mines and Minerals Development.
State House spokesperson Dickson Jere says,
“the President said he has decided to relieve Hon. Musonda of his duties after receiving a report indicating that the Director of Public Prosecution has recommended for the prosecution of the Deputy Minister following a shooting incident in his Constituency”.

President Banda said he wanted Musonda to concentrate on his case. The President said he also wanted the judicial process to take its course in the matter.

  22. To # 28 Joze:

Thanks. I appreciate that information. You know these characters are most difficult towards their own people so I had to have an idea…Have a good day.

  23. haha#32…I wouldn’t touch the 2010 Hefty Dora with a 10 feet pole…unless she paid me some of that RP Capital money.

  24. Mwebantu please what beauty is there on that ‘futty Dollar RP Silly?’ She has been to Alpha am sure and was picked by some stranded drunk man who told her that she was beautiful. The fact is Doly is not beautiful she is just fat or beautiful in the eyes of bamwine.

  25. Is there no Minister of Transport and Communications who should be the RIGHT person to handle all queries about Zamtel? Is there nothing to do in the Ministry of Education to keep Dora occupied? If she has too much time on her hands then there is something very very wrong and needs to be addressed before Zambia is sold for lack of money to “develop” it.

  26. #19 Wanzelu, You have a very nice name by the way. Coming to the re-appointment of Namulambe. This is a smart move by RB. Remember Gabriel has been very quiet since being dropped unlike Mpombo, Magande, Shakas. He has not disparaged his party or the presidency. I would not be surprised that under the cover of darkness he went back to apologize. So, now what you should do is to ask empty tins like Mpombo who said after Gabriel was dropped that RB has lost the Lamba vote whether now RB has regained the Lamba vote. As for Mr. Kavindele – he is now becoming a failed and frustrated businessman and getting into a diatribe with a young girl like Dora is seriously embarrassing.

  27. As the owner of KB Davis, a firm that supplies mining equipment in the north-central Copperbelt region, he is also a prominent businessman.

  28. THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has said it does not know of any links between President Rupiah Banda’s son, James, and maize supplier Mark Daniels Pty, which was engaged to import maize from South Africa.

  29. I am really a UNIPIST, what people call UNIPIST. So It’s very difficult for me perhaps at my age to join another political party. But let me say this that as of now, I am quite attracted to the leadership of President Mwanawasa for several reasons but most importantly his fight against corruption and his openness. his inclusiveness to other polilical parties and listening to other political parties. They may not feel that way but he does listen, we see it. Even people who are looking from a distance feel that he does listen much more than anybody else did hefore since the heginning of multipartism. And also, the rule of law in the country is taking route in the country. I am very attracted to that.

  30. Hichilema said the only way to expand Zambia’s economy was to grow the private sector. He said if the head of state does not know how to grow and expand an economy, then he was a wrong head of state.

“And why have I not been an MP? (laughs) I have never wanted to be an MP. If I wanted to be an MP, it’s common knowledge, in my village I would have been an MP for Bweengwa. I have done enough work there. I live with the people harmoniously there,” Hichilema said.

“He (Rupiah) lost Munali seat to Simeon Kampata Chambauleme, a school teacher who was on a bicycle. Rupiah Banda lost, he wants to pretend that he has never lost an election but he lost under the UNIP era. He lost to a schoolteacher. That schoolteacher exists and is willing to explain how he dribbled Rupiah Banda. So…

  31. ZAMBIANS , YOU ARE VERY DAFT. WHY DO TALK ABOUT TRIVIAL MATTERS.KAVINDALE IS AVERY POWERFULL BM. WAY BACK .SUCH PEOPLE NEVER GROW BROKE.LET HIM GO AHEARD AND EMPLOY SOME OF YOU.

  32. Kavindele will always be against the people’s Republic of Zambia. This is because the man has failed in all he has tried including being fired as the Republican Vice-President. This is a shame to his tribesmen in Northwestern province and his sponsors in Angola. The guy is a traitor and a threat to national security. Kavi would do anything to make a buck regardless of the method used. The truth out their is that he may have been involved in the late finance minister’s death-Ronald Penza over a deal gone bad! Wait until the government reopens this case and Kavi will be no more and locked up in prison.
