Shang’ombo welcomes marine ambulances

Share

Shang’ombo District Commissioner (DC) Masheke Kabayo has hailed government’s decision to distribute marine Ambulances to provinces and districts that are water borne.

Mr. Kabayo said in an interview with ZANIS today that the move by President Banda’s administration indicates its commitment to deliver quality health care to all Zambians regardless of their locality.

Mr. Kabayo is optimistic that the Marine Ambulance will serve many lives in his disctrict which is across the Zambezi River and becomes unreachable during the rainy seasons.

The DC explained that people in the district were subjected to walking long distances,

” Sometimes people , here, fail to cross the Zambezi river but now has a District hospital plus the Marine Ambulances which he said will easy the provision of health services, ” he said.

He stressed that the Shang’ombo community were expectant of the facility and thankful to the President for embarking on the distribution of the ambulances.

  1. Just how are these people going to call the ambulance for help
Is it going to come with solar powered radios installed in regional areas

  2. Atleast, though it is coming now just because of elections to get our votes. It is better than Sata and Chiluba’s MMD where we were regarded as nothing only being laughed at as the poorest area in Zambia, we really thank Mwanawasa’s MMD for bringing development into our area.

  3. My beloved town. It has been neglected for a long time. We are seeing light now. Indeed satelie phones are needed or else it will benefit those with access to network. This area need four wheeled mobile hospital. I want the constituency to be split into 2 or 3 for any meaningful develpment

  4. #3,#4,#5…muli ma tole…do you what you are calling development is total bull shit?how long will this mobile shit go on?you do not understand the needy for fixed assets…developed nation have not resorted to such systems knowing that it is expensive to run.Given that its election time such silly things are brought in ur villages knowing that you understand nothing and only appreciate sweets…come on am not supporting any of these fools standing but be wise to reason with your MMD boys…our country is getting un wanted loans for these stupid ventures to be paid by your poor children …stand up and demand sensible ventures…RB ndiwe mbuzi!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your analysis is a bit severe, but I agree with the central thrust of your argument. We do not have the resources to run those mobile fimo-fimo. Those tens of millions of dollars borrowed from China could have been used to equip our network of health centres and strengthen them further and possibly even build a few more new fixed health facilities. Using the money to put up high-wattage solar-power systems at each rural health centre, for example, would have been money more wisely spent than order a mobile engine that will be dead and vandalised in a year. Bottom-line, the decision was too daft to be made by a President of a country… it is embarrassing to say the least and it goes without saying that it was motivated by corruption. 2011??

Awe mdala, the truth is going to be that: “Just shout for an ambulance, and it will shout back!”

  7. If these things are going to be well maintained and looked after, well and good.If not then you will have to account for the wastage of national resources, because knowing GRZ how poor they are about maintence I very much doubt that these things will serve our people. Permanent structures are better. If you look at hospitals around the country, its an eye sow. My home town Kitwe Central hospital formerly Llewelyn hospital, built and left by colonial masters Britain can’t be maintained. This is a static structure, what more of mobile hospitals moreover from China. Government should have listened to the people. Very soon these mobile hospitals will be white elephants, no spares and trained staff to look after them. They will end up like Ifa trucks once bought for the army and Aro jeeps .

  8. People should not look at this issue as a backward thing, but rather as a development . There is no need to argue, because we need both mobile and fixed health investment so that they support each other. The flying doctors must also be looked at. The y all serve the same purpose.
