President Banda

President Rupiah Banda has commissioned a 48 billion kwacha (US$10m) China-Aid Agricultural Technology demonstration Centre at the University of Zambia Liempe Farm in Chongwe district.

The centre will train farmers and students in various farming technologies using maize, soya beans, and wheat.

This is in line with the University of Zambia strategic Plan which places priority not only on teaching and research but also public service.

President Banda says the centre will increase agriculture production in the country and contribute to economic growth and attainment of the vision 2030.

He said this is a speech read for him by Education Minister Dora Siliya.

Mr. Banda says the agriculture sector is critical to ensuring that every Zambian has food.

And Ms Siliya says the MMD government is committed to investing in infrastructure.

Ms. Siliya says the government is also committed at placing a premium on institutions of higher learning.

And Agriculture Minister Dr Eustarckio Kazonga says the centre will add value to the agriculture sector.

Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhou Yuxiao said agriculture is one of the key sectors that can help Zambia to achieve economic diversification.

Ambassador Zhou also disclosed that about 2-hundred pieces of equipment for the centre is currently at the port in Tanzania en route to Zambia.

  1. This is RB and his projects for you. Commisioning Hospitals which have no beds and Linen, schools without desks and teachers and the list goes on and on. I wonder if Rupiah really understands the work of a Republic President

  2. Rupiya Banda and his Wlliam Banda think Zambian people are stupid, that is not a project that a president must even commision the chancelor can do that. This man is so desparete how can you rely on Shikapwasha and Siliya the people’s levels are so low.

  6. Does anyone know where Chiluba’s money is? Regina Regina Regina…….Let’s see what the Post will say about him. Will they call him a Thief even in his death. It will be interesting to read the Sunday Post

  7. Its not surprising to commission incomplete projects in Zambia. RB is in no compromising mood he can commission anything in sight. Do we have any serious planners in Zambia? How can govt locate a new stadium near Independence Stadium. Is there any logic. Its not too late planners can relocate the site for new stadium may in Ibex erea or Lusaka South. You cant locate two big structures serving the same purpose in one area. We are repeating the situation of UTH which is congested with all sorts clinics in one area. Comments please.

  8. @ master’s voice ……the placement of existing stadia to new ones is usually done when a country wants to attempt to host something like the Olympics , we also have to take into account infrastructure provided by the existing site….guess there planning to host the all africa games one day bt personally i would have preferred they demolished the old stadium or put it in a different area
