MMD to petition ECZ over Sata’s insults

MMD Deputy National secretary Chembe Nyangu

MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu has said the ruling party would write to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to complain about the insults Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata and Mr Given Lubinda have been issuing during their campaigns in the Eastern Province against the ruling party’s parliamentary candidates.

And in Mazabuka, some PF cadres allegedly stormed former PF ward chairperson Wamunyima Mubiyalelwa’s house with intent to attack him following his decision to defect to the ruling MMD.

Mr Nyangu has said the PF leadership is encouraging people to resort to electoral violence ahead of the September 20 elections.

“It has come to the party’s attention that the PF delegation currently in Eastern Province is encouraging electoral violence. The PF delegation led by its leader Michael Sata has launched its campaign based on insults.

“In Nyimba, Mr Sata and Mr Given Lubinda have been insulting our parliamentary candidate Mr Folie Tembo and the same is obtaining in Petauke where Mr Sata has launched a barrage of insults against Ms Dora Siliya,” he said.

He said it was unfortunate that the PF is launching its campaign based on insults when the three mother bodies have called on political parties to campaign peacefully.

“Why should the whole lot of a leader go to Eastern Province to go and insult our parliamentary candidates? It is for this reason that I would like to announce that the MMD will be writing to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to lodge a complaint against the PF conduct.

“Secondly, Mr Sata should not take advantage of other people’s calamities by going round bereaved families of last week’s Nyimba accident to campaign.

This surprisingly comes just a few weeks after Mr Sata shunned the funeral of his political mentor Dr Frederick Chiluba.

And in Southern Province, some PF cadres allegedly stormed former PF ward chairperson Wamunyima Mubiyalelwa’s house with intent to attack him following his decision to defect to the ruling MMD.

Mr Mubiyalelwa, who led 150 PF cadres to defect to the MMD during a rally which was being addressed by Die Hard for RB national coordinator Bowman Lusambo and Forum for Leadership Search (FLS) executive director Edwin Lifwekelo in Mazabuka at the weekend, confirmed the incident to the Times in an interview yesterday.

He claimed that a group of 10 slogan-chanting PF cadres allegedly led by Southern Province PF youth chairperson Bright Mweetwa stormed his residence and demanded that he gets out as they wanted to sort him out because he had allegedly discredited the PF by defecting to the ruling party.

But when contacted, Mr Mweetwa claimed that he was not aware of the incident as he had just returned from Monze.?Mr Mubiyalelwa said the PF cadres surrounded his home around 02:00 hours and demanded that he gets out of the house so that they sort him out.

“These people stormed my house with intent to attack me and when my wife asked them what they wanted, they were with Mr Bright Mweetwa who is the PF provincial chairman and that they wanted to sort me out. Even my neighbours were awakened by the noise these people were making,” he said.

He said he immediately called the MMD constituency chairperson Monitor Mweene who later reported the matter to the police.Mr Mubiyalelwa, who? condemned the violence by the PF, said it was surprising that the opposition could be annoyed with him for defecting when it was his right to belong to a political party of his choice.

Mr Mweene and MMD aspiring parliamentary candidate Maxwel Mwiinga confirmed the incident in separate interviews yesterday saying the matter was reported to the police.

And Mr Lifwekelo, who was one of those that addressed the rally, said it was primitive for the PF to attack the people that were leaving the party.

Mr Lifwekelo challenged the PF leadership to condemn the violence being perpetrated by its youth chairperson in Southern Province.

“Just on Saturday, we heard PF leadership denying on ZNBC news that those who defected were not their members but it is surprising to note that they should now go and attack?a person they are claiming not to be their member for defecting to the MMD,” he said.

At the same rally held at Ndeke School grounds, of 250 members of the opposition defected to the MMD with 150 coming from the PF. Others came from the United Party For National Development

  1. What insults kanshi? Always we hear he has insulted but we don’t hear him ourselves. MMD is so scared of Sata that they can kill you if you accidentally mentioned his name in their presence. Your Insults!!

    • which country do you live in? sata insult at any given opportunity can you go on rally and talk about some ones legs please what kind of campaign is this

  2. Sata is no longer a threat..the man is nearing his life extinction and no need to panic Zedians.. the law of natural selection will soon take him the land of his ancestors ,a land of no return….so worry not people 76 years is no joke, please anytime his switch will flip to the permanent off position.

  3. PF are so incorrigible that the last resort is now to start spitting vernom at those with descenting views. That is a clear sign that they know that they have already lost the race before it even starts just after they ditched the pact.PF as a consolation just start preparing for 2016.Those with sight and can see have already read the writing on the wall.”C’est anne il va arriver votre terminaison”

  4. Its incomprehensible that MMD would even contemplate taking such an action against PF as a party and or its officials.
MMD is pretending to be holier than thou.
It would have made sense if MMD started with petitioning its president & vice president. These two are on undisputed record for using profanities in describing Sata at any forum
Please spare us of your rubbish

  5. If what I have seen on Stand Up for Zambia when Mr Sata was describing late President Mwanawasa and others is anything to go by, that man has language, quite some language for an aspiring president. But the people are not fools, they detest such language and they will show Mr Sata what they think of him on 20th September.

  6. ma labishi is the correct word.

nyangu leave kaponyas alone, cage the mouths of yo thugs in DMM oh MDM oh soli MMD who have insulted sata and the team left rightb and centre.start with chanda chimba, dora, cifire greg.,etc.yayamba ku migwira mitundo ka?pabwatoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I just wonder how it is possible that Mr Sata does not realise that what has cost him even a small chance at the Presidency are his language, violence, his lack of empathy, his lies and deception. The Post has tried its best to sell him, but these attributes nullify everything that Mmembe has tried to craft. He could get away with it in the past but now people know him very well, especially with the live expose on Stand Up for Zambia where you can see him speaking in person.

  8. #4 Njombwinjo: Be serious bwana. I agree with 1 & 3, MMD always says SATA has insulted. They seem to be the only ones who hear insults. The truth is their a strong wave calling for change in Zambia, unfortunately you usually have little choice. It is the loudest and strongest that are capable of wrestling a titan to the group. The current landscape in Zambia only indicates that SATA is the only alternative. HH is far and I mean far from leadership. I wrote to UPND and told them as such.

  9. This man has no shame. If the opposition insults, then its nothing compared to the insults we hear from MMD and its leadership.

  10. Iwe “KANYANGU” stop barking uselessly!! Electoral code is not averse to insults! What were the insults so we can judge for ourselves? KANYANGU, this is a “barking mad” campaign policy to malign your opponents without proof!!!

  11. Those who have never heard Mr Sata speak his traditional language of invectives and hate, take time to watch him rant unprintables on Stand Up for Zambia then you will see the “presidential material” in PF.

  12. Ati Mr Sata is campaigning in Eastern? That is the same act as going to your neighbour to gossip while your own house is on fire. Anyway, why not, Lusaka and CB are too hot for him now so he thinks some rural vote may comfort him. At least he will claim that this time around he has done better in Eastern province, even at the expense of his vanishing strongholds……..

  13. From what I see Nyangu is asleep, how did he hear those insults????? Some one help me may be I cant see properly this man is fast asleep

  14. # 19 Pf Government…your comment is invalid…dont waste your time, whether u like it or not CB and LSK are for PF…Ur PRETENCE WILL NOT HELP U ..fACE REALITY MY Friend…

  15. Iwe 16-19 niwe pompwe sana ati?? Teti wa sambilila ichisungu epo tau la bosa??
“Averse”, te kweba ati insele shali suminishwa mu “erection’ code, kwe ba fye ati ta ba landapo, nomba bushe wa unfwa ifi twa ku londwela mu chi bemba???

  16. CHIWAMILA GALU….. DORA WAS ON THE COPPERBELT AND TOLD PIPO THAT SATA IS LIKE A MAN WHO SLEEPS WITH A BOMBASA AND FELLS TO IMPREGNANT A MAN…. ARE THESE NOT INSULTS TO AN ELDERLY PERSON OF HER FATHER’S AGE???????

  17. Having courage to tel people facts and insults them for bad things they do,are things that make us love SATA.Man of courage, king COBRA. Here we comeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  18. PF cadres, your confidence is misplaced. While you are campaigning very hard for your president, he is busy working against you by decampaigning himself one way or another. The few times when he tries to discuss issues (that he does not understand) he is always contradictory, e.g. on mining taxes while his supporters are claiming that the tax regime is wrong or non-existent he is busy telling everybody else that they are alright he will just improve the collection. One time he even writes RB to complain that mining taxes are too high! I sympathise with you guys, it must be quite painful.

    • Well spoken like a wise man. i like Mr sata when he campaigns. but its only dat he loses focus as he as to deals the many machineries 4m govt and others sponsord by govt. its quit a huge task u know. just imagin RB in the shoes of sata – he can’t beat up the Machinery alone – Sata is a King in his own Kindom

  19. But was it not Bwezani who said: Ufisanji mambala” only last week? Was it also not the same man who in Northern province claimed “Onani, onani vimasilu”? He should just swallow his own medicine now. As for Sata not attending Chiluba’s funeral, I sympathize with him because you never know what killed the man that forced his relatives and government to skip a post moterm. What ever it is that killed the diminutive Katangese, maybe was IBOLA, could be contagious and given Sata’s low immunity and bad heart, prevention is better than cure so he did well to skip the circus Bwezani declared national moaning.

  20. Politics in Zambia are like this – Insults Every where. Some times I wonder what one can call Insults. I say this because I understand that insulting a President is a very serious offence which can attract stiffer punishments. Against this small gist – How is it that Mr Sata is always acussed of insulting the Heard of State and yet escapes punishment. The only possible exolanation is that Mr Sata does not insult any one but marely practices politics of Zambian standards just like R.B does or that Mr R.B as heard of state also insults Mr Sata which makes it very impossible for him to arrest Mr Sata. So Mr. Nyangu is merely politiking because he knows very well that the ECZ will not do anything to Mr Sata which will not be done to Mr Ruphia in no time as he as kick started is campaigns today

  21. THATS DESPERATION ON THE PART OF MMD PLS JUST BE IN THE GAME THINGS ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU GUYS.PF HAS REACHED ITS MATURITY STAGE MMD IS FEELING TH HEAT.CHEMBE START ADVISING YOUR RB WHO TAKES SATA’S NAME AS A MEGAPHONE.

  22. times of banda and their lies. Nyangu has not mentioned any insults in his statements. Your RB is the one one who is always insulting calling SATA names such as Mambala. YOUR CHIBANDA IS THE ONE WHO INDEED SHOULD BE PETITIONED FOR INSULTING.
