VJ part of MMD campaign team- Kawimbe

Share

Vernon Mwaanga (left)

PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda national campaign committee chairperson Boniface Kawimbe has said former parliamentary chief whip Vernon Mwaanga is still part of presidential national campaigns and that he will be more visible when the public rallies start in the next few days.

Dr Kawimbe said allegations that the MMD had sidelined the veteran politician were incorrect since Mr Mwaanga is still a member of the ruling party.

He said there was no confusion at the national campaign cantre and that a programme had been designed to ensure door-to-door campaigns were launched, apart from the public rallies.

Dr Kawimbe said the ruling party had procured adequate bicycles to help ward officials with the door-to-door campaigns while about 80 per cent of the campaign materials had been distributed throughout the country.

He said media reports recently that the MMD national campaign committee was missing Mr Mwaanga were malicious because there was an intense campaign programme for all members.

“Let me assure you that Mr Mwaanga will be more visible when the campaigns start. He is a member of the MMD and very useful to the party,” Dr Kawimbe said.

Dr Kawimbe said the MMD decided to invest in the bicycles to ensure wide reach to the rural areas.

Meanwhile, President Banda is expected to travel to Chipata in the Eastern Province to hold a public rally on August 13.

The president said he wanted to address the people of Chipata and thereafter more public rallies would take place.

  1. This time VJ you will fall down and be eaten by worms just like HEROD in the Bible people are prayiing

  2. e Boom!!! RB nafuti nafuti, everyone (including the 16 opposition parties) know that RB will emerge victorous.

  3. wasokoloka shani mu last minute this time weather u like it or not kuya bebele…The stratege ni Donchi kwalasha….

  4. You still dont have evidence ba pungwa imwe @1 & 3 and the rest.VJ is just a strategist who is beyond electoral ‘genius’ of the kaponyas.RB Nafuti Nafuti….chwe chwe chwe chwe.

  5. Ba MMD please dont strain the man. He is finished. give him time to concetrate on his illness, you heatless thugs!

  6. I like the way MMD is strategically dismantiling the opposition this time around. Just the mere mention that VJ is part of the presidential campaign team is sending shock waves in the oppositin ranks. MMD are even intending to go door to door in their campaigns when others are busy petioning the incumbents parentage. I think these guys are serious. Its really a game of strategy and timing.

  7. An NGO calling itself Committee of Citizens says it is seeking a court order to evaluate PF leader Michael Sata’s mental status.

Committee of Citizens director Gregory Chifire told journalists in Lusaka Sunday that his organisations suspects that Sata is not normal and therefore not fit to stand as president.

Chifire said Sata has on several occasions demonstrated signs of mental instability like when he insulted journalists after losing the 2006 elections.

He said that Sata showed his alleged signs of madness last week during the meeting of presidentiual candidates with the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Chifire said the papers has already been filed in court.

  8. Master Rigger back on the scene. Sad that this man has always been used to accomplish other people’s goals, seems he’s jcontent to play the dubious facilitator always.

  9. Vj not a rigger but a master planner. . He plans how to win election . Rb nafuti nafuti . Ba pf just agree that things are not ok in your camp. This i can assure u that its white wash

  10. In all honesty, our independence heroes like Mwaanga, who in fact inspired many young people, should be allowed to retire. The whole team starting from Sata, RB, Mwaanga, etc should have a respectable retirement. Look at the way Mugabe is today, the man will not have a respectable retirement because of his insistence to remain in leadership. Politcs is not only valuable when one is holding a leadership position but also when you provide guidance to those young men and women in leadership. The problem is people go into politics for personal gain. I say no to this, go in politics to serve, i.e., make your maoney first then go in politics. That way, a leader is less likely to focus on oneself in terms of personal agrandisement. Only HH fits this criteria, the rest are ‘frivolous’ jokers.

  11. “ensure door-to-door campaigns were launched, apart from the public rallies.”
This is a listening party. I have always advocated door-to-door canvassing instead of mass ralies as though we are in Hitler’s Germany or the Communist blocks. Ralies are misleading because it is usuall party cadres, youths, children, women and the unemployed who will go to these meetings. They swell the crowds but they will hardly vote. The serious minded voter will make up his mind in the quietness of their house and not at a rally where comedy takes place. It would be nice to poll people going to a rallly and then ask them afterwards whether their minds had changed because of what they heard there.
Well done MMD and UPND, you are modernising politics in Zambia.

  12. VJ as you are known to be the Master Rigger, if MMD is doing the right things as we see them let the people say so. Do not stain your hands by being used as if you are sebana uikute. If I were RB I would not involve you because of your bad name,  Even if mmd wins still people will suspect that maybe there is something you have done in terms of rigging while not, to avoid suspition, free and fair elections this time let vj be away from 2011polls.

  13. THE BEST CANDIDATE SO FAR IS RB COZ OF HIS LAST MINUTE PROJECTS AND TRYING TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMY. OTHERS ARE UNDER FIVE AND INCHERENT. LET US NOT CHANGE FOR THE SAKE OF IT. BUT WAIT FOR A LEADER TO EMERGE IN 2016. FOR NOW LET US ALLOW EASTERNERS TO SHOW WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF PLZ. DONT DESTROY THE DEVELOPMENT WE HAVE STARTED.

  14. Opponents of RB are not only neurotic but suffering dangerous mental distress. They are very delusional and unsophisticated. How do you par Wynter Kabimba and Sata on one hand to spur President Banda who has assembled a league of methodical intellectuals; Muhabi Lungu, Robert Mtonga and Veteran strategist/ career Diplomat executing a battle plan?

  15. Dr Kawimbe has a medical centre I used to go to, when I was at Lusaka International School, and I remember him telling my father he would never go back to the MMD because they had lost ‘their way’ Has their way now been aligned?.
What a pathetic execuse of a Man, I am reading he is a campaign what?

Just goes on to show never trust these 1*****ic politician and there is any of you here who aspire to be, You are very dellusional and should have a good look at your self in the mirror.
I hate politicians. I loathe them. The cheating, lying, smarmy, insincere, thieving scum Zambian Men who stand and tell us lies.
I hate Lusakatimes at times, and days like this make me feel like slapping any Zambian male that comes my way, it relieves my frustration. pass the puke bucket. Thanks

  16. I am sure it is becoming clearer each day that passes by who is winning these elections. This time it might not be a close one.

  17. VJ is a desperate and disgruntled politician playing the devil role when it comes to elections. Let him rest this time he won’t manage to rig alone, his friends hav left him alone. Viva PF, viva Sata pa bwatoooooooooo!

  18. VJ has a reputation, whether deservedly so or not is another day’s discussion, however the only consoling thing about this election is that whatever the outcome it will be the last time the likes of VJ, RB, Sata, Munkombwe and all the other political dinosaurs will be setting the country’s political agenda….they have been around from time immemorial and its time they became extinct like their fellow dinos. Let the young set the agenda for Zambia’s next page, twanaka nabo!!

  19. 20. A 71-year-old former Barotse treason accused says PF leader Michael Sata’s 90-day development approach can only be doubted by lazy and incompetent leaders.

“I strongly believe that changes can be done even in less than 90 days. In fact, good developmental policies can be seen in less than 90 days,” Liamba said. “I strongly support the statement by Mr Sata that he can make some significant changes in 90 days. These are words which can come only from an active determined leader like Mr Sata.”
Liamba said Zambia was hungry for development and, therefore, did not need leaders that had to wait for a 10-year term to deliver.

  21. #30 Koma imwe naimwe mukali pa 90 days rub.bish? PF cant even organise their list of 150 MP candidates and you still believe in their abracadabra more money in your pocket nonsense? Ndiye kuti nizoona kuti vimasilu vamu Paltry Faculties (pf) vilibe nzelu ka

  22. By the simple fact that there is no credible opporsition to talk about, RB will win again. This time arround, this election is charecterised by dreams, lies, smear campaigns and tribalism. The other small parties are too small to be mentioned. RB is the only candidate who can point at having accomplished something, the rest can only talk about RB himself and political dreams as usual.

  23. Kawimbe, what is so special about VJ? You called him to bring in sanity at your rigging / campaign centre? When people say kuya bebele ninshi nifyo fine. Let VJ rest. When Katele Kalumba was asked why he was playing a low profile in 2011 elections? His answer was; ” Ba yama, ifi the song as stopped playing, why should you continue dancing?’ Zambians; the song is over, and the game is over! Lets just wait for the PF cabinet!!!!!

  24. Donchi kubeba, Ni Sata ku State House! Pabwatooooooooooooooo!!!

  25. Sober mindedness is needed this year not to look at jokers whose rallies are characterised by insults. We want an issue based person talking about our plight as the poor. How do you get the poor be well off. No Presidential candidate should cheat us without addressing how they are going to tackle the micro and macro economics of our country.

  26. BREAKING NEWS…..

VJ has just joined PF as RB awaits courts verdict on his origins (parenatage)

  27. #39 International oberserver,
How can it be BREAKING NEWS when someone joins a losing team.
Anyway, you are right since it is breaking news even when thiefs have stollen or someon has insulted another.

  28. If VJ is such a good rigger, then Sata should know better because they rigged elections together. If Sata does not know anything, then VJ can’t rig any elections. Sata is an MMD defector, he should know.

  29. MMD is a united party, a mixture of the young and the old, the wise and the strategic thinkers. It is all embracing and continually renews itself which is why it continues to survive. Compare this with other parties that I will not mention for fear of hardcore insults.

  30. VJ OR NO VJ, YOU’RE GONNERS BA MMD, NI BYE, BYE POLIO!!!!!!!!……..YOU HAVE EXACTLY 43 DAYS TO SLEEP IN PLOT ONE…………THE WHOLE MMD, YOU’RE JUST BANKING ON THE SAME OLD FINISHED VJ!!!!!!!……………. ZO-OONA BA MMD NAMUPWA!!!!….SO FOR YOU IT’S NO VJ, NO CAMPAIGNS!!!!!!!!!!!!………….NI BYE, BYE POLIO!!!!!!!!

  31. @7, Don’t worry, exercising his mind is what keeps VJ and all normal human beings alive. Without it you are clinically dead like cadres in certain parties.

  32. #43 This is what has been your language for a number of elections but alas, you have been wrong. If PF was a decent party with clear objectives and the right thinking people, I would have thought they stood a chance, but nooooo

  33. I read the speech President Banda gave about his parentage in the Post Newspaper and it touched….I am advocating for change and in support of PF and Sata to replace MMD but strongly edge PF to refrain from pursuing this parentage issue and concentrate on good campaigning strategy…. 20 Years is too much for MMD and they know it…kuyabebele… Viva Change, Viva PF, Viva Sata

  34. ba PF ukutemwa ukubepesha ba VJ lyonse..RB beat Sata just after a few months of campaigning…what more manje?

  35. The mention of VJ sends shocks waves in the Pathetic F00ls Party. Hate him or not he is still part of the winning MMD campaign team. Mukosefye bane.

    Pa Nkoooooooooloooooooooooookooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo chabe.

  36. VJ is a master planner (or rigger if you want) and I don’t see how Sata can win this. Well, hopefully Sata should not win cause he’ll be worse than Idi Amin, with CC3 no. 1 on the list – seriously! He’ll spend the first 90 days on a revenge mission against anybody he thinks did him wrong and the rivers will run red from the blood of his ‘enemies’. The thug should not be allowed anywhere near the seat of power.

  37. Why not put VJ in prison until the elections are over. That way he will not be accused of rigging. I think is is safer for him to remain in prison.

  38. IF BANDA CAN MAKE SO MANY LAST MINUTE DEVELOPMENTS IN A MONTH OR SO WHY CAN’T SATA DO THE SAME EVEVN BETTER IN A LESSER PERIOD? CAREFUL WHEN U CRITICISE.
