President Rupiah Banda blends in at a funeral of his relative in Chipata recently
President Rupiah Banda

President Rupiah Banda has sent a message of condolence to Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata on the death of PF party members in a road accident at Kisasa, in Solwezi.

In a letter to Mr Sata, President Banda says he is saddened to learn about the accident in which a truck careered off the road, claiming five lives on the spot.

President Banda says life is the most important gift Zambians share in common and therefore any loss, regardless of who died, is painful.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Dickson Jere.

Mr Banda has wished Mr Sata, the PF membership and the bereaved families sincere condolences.

President Banda further says he wants to see the traditional friendly and hospitable spirit continuing beyond political boundaries.

He says whenever there is a tragedy such as the Solwezi accident, Zambian brothers and sisters should stand together and help strengthen one another.

Meanwhile President Banda says investigations should be carried out to establish the root cause of the tragedy.

He has however urged motorists and all passenger and cargo transport operators to ensure their vehicles are in good condition to avoid road accidents.

The President has also appealed to motorists to avoid alcohol before or while driving.

  1. unfit and old trucks should not be carrying passengers just like we dont need to vote for unfit and old politicians!

    • KWATA AMANO IWE MBULI. HW DO U SAY THAT SATA HAS SACRIFICED THE UNFORTUNATE GUYS. MTSRIP. TALK ABOUT SOMETHIN SENSIBLE NT THOSE NONSENSE.

    • alishilu saana ckikamba chobe!!do u hv evidences that sata has sacrificed those people?tell me now?

  2. Give it to RB the man is beating Sata to the game….

Its called Strategy in politics…..  Ba PF   umushi naupya

    MMD 4 : PF 0

  3. To me that accident is a symbol of just how PF is crumbling down like a mud-house in the rain. There is nothing left about PF. The reports coming from North-Western are that Sata and his PF crew ran away leaving the suffering cadres and their families crying by the roadside where the accident happened apparently not too far from where Sata and his team were sitting. It had to take the local MMD authorities to take charge of the sad situation. PF have just lost North-Western for good. I hear the surviving PF cadres don’t even want to hear Sata’s name anymore..I don’t think they are PF anymore. PF is ka-put!

  4. Ya sorry sure big man thats why we love u becoz u r a human being not a serpent.Mumu uze vopeleka bantu kutali is bad.

  5. Good ridence by RB, thats maturity, leadership . Not what we heard in Chipata regarding the Nyimba accident. SATA should learn to talk well

  6. This is good of RB – not like some of these poisonous bloggers who are celebrating the accident. Listen to yourselves! You must be broken people

    • CHI # 13 DO U READ THE BIBLE? DOES ANY 1 KNWS THE DAY NOR THE HOUR WHEN U WIL DIE AND THE NATURE OF DEATH?. SOMETIMES THINK B4 OPENING YO MOUTH

  7. The Patriotic Fools (PF) are doomed. Come end September wina azalila. Ma by-elections before 2016 ayo, ayo, ayo bane. Watch the space.

  8. #9. it is not political gain,he is a president of all zambians and he has done the right thing all and above as a human being.

    • mwaba KAPULI Kobe waumfwa, ulekwata umuchinshi, tawishibe ati ule dealin’ga naba president.Mafi yobe.BRAVO UBWATO and all shore bound,NI ZEE BA KAAMBA.

  9. ………………. now how do you reconcile this statement with Daily Mail Head line taunting PF over the same accident??

  10. So now you know that PF huge crowds are fact, people are ferried to attend PF rallies. Sata and the Post exposed.

RB, you are a true leader, unlike Stupid Sata who wanted to gain political grounds from the Nyimba accident.

  11. Neither Sata nor RB are being political. It is you bloggers who are politicizing RB’s and Sata’s loss and grief.

    Shame.

  12. A President for all Zambians! Compare with what Sata and the Post said and did after the Nyimba disaster that completely had nothing to do with politics!

  13. Why are they publicising it?
My fiance, Nick lost his Uncle I did not come out here talk about Steve McGir , I did not..

The country is just so backward.

    I really hate Zambia

    Thanks

    • Ba MUSHOTA kanshi muli chipuba chabula amano, bushe elyo ishina telyenu mwaumfwa fye ati mushota is a zambian name.MAFI yobe waumfwa, elo tawishileko after all you not even eligble.Uchita fye ubuhule uko noku pipa amafi yaba kote.

    • So why are you telling us about the dead guy?
      We dont want to know.
Your boyfriend must get amused with your small mind. You dont think.
He laughs at your country, and you laugh too. You will never change who you are nor where you come from. Grow up and have a sense of pride!

    • if you wife/hubby/girl/boy friend laughs at you family or roots you then need to fear for yourself in any situation! ………..now, but of course she is blind and deaf! Chintomfwa

    • Ulimbwa mushota, you always boast about Scotland, tell me in which way have contribute to making Scotland look what it is, just in your small way? The answer is noto. I would understand you if you have been in fore front trying to lift our national and no one seems to show interest. The only thing of “value” you are doing that side is providing cheap S.E.X. to aged. You have turned yourself into a filth sperm chamber or is it a cylinder. You need reconditioning. You are no longer on standard, u ur at 060

    • Did you need to reply to this nonsensical girl people?….PRIDE in the pants whilst wiping old muzungu’s ass bitch!!!!!! Dont feel for Zambia because you are impersonating but not real Zambian

  14. Problem with zambians is that we don’t know what we want, so we dont know where we are going. For that reason, we look for people instead for a system, values, beliefs that make us successful to control who we put in power. Neither Sata nor RB are an answer. You see how South african politicians respect people, like in ANC over Mbeki and now Zuma… Those are values..

  15. Mwapapusha Ba RB,abantu ubwingi ebo mu shooter no landa bwangu sorry ,ngalelo chaba shani.POLITICAL MILEAGE,mineni amate .OBVIOUSLY mwalimona ati chala diba ekutuma ichimbayambaya chipaye abantu bakaele.tukamiponona ba MBOKOYA.DAYS are numbered.

  16. Ba #18, MMD is the biggest culprit when it comes to ferrying cadres. We see their canters at the MMD rallies. FACT! This is part of politics especially here in Africa.

  17. Hahaha, ati “This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Dickson Jere”….. shall we announce that we’re now sending condolences…. SAD!

  18. Mushota you have a valid point. I really like your contributions, they are so deep and profound. Reminds me of the hoes from Alfa Bar when they are hanging out with their muzungu customers searching for the sparse Benjamin.

    • ba FB, dont be totally daft dude, James Banda’s comment is wat we call a ‘sarcastic’ comment. u have heard of this word I hope? Goodness! Bet u’re a PF chap and if u are, then i understand.

  19. #3 walipena and #21 you are a big fool. what is a connection between the death of my fellow citizens and what you have said?? kolwe. #21 for years now you just say my fiance, tabalanaka ukukubofya????????????????????????????????????????????

  20. Fellow zambians plzzzz where is your moral life. death is death and it goes over all boaders. sure how can you still continue politicizng even on  the death of your friend. Where is our tradition, where is our idetity. some comments are very poor here

  21. One thing l know about society is that in politics, you can only have the cream of leaders according to the mind of the people of that very society. Imagine if politicians of some countries, say, zambia were to be leaders in countries like USA, or Japan. can such people tell the same lies and exercise same greed as they do to zambians…? What controls the behavior of Politicians in any country is the prevailing mind, behavior, values, beliefs, resolves, convictions of the people that country. Another example is what happened in Greece and UK when a police Officer killed an innocent minor, respectively. People in these two countries didn’t allow fear, cowardice, complacency, sleepiness, tulo, ubututu, kupusa, umbututu, mbutuma, etc to control their hearts. They sent a clear message!!!!

  22. When is he going to learn at the age of 75 years. You expect him to change, there is no way, this rotten teeth man of yours will change, he has gone to north-western province just to kill people there because they do not want SATA any more. Now, it is clear that all these rallies you see for SATA in post newspaper like today, people have been ferried from all over the country just to make as if he is very popular. The truth has come out now.

    • Yama mulichipuba sana chiputa kuipa. iwe wabola intweno, nomba ena abola ameno. so what makakalyobe. Y ar u scared of him talk about Magande daily nikukamba pali Sata. u must be very foolish

  23. Good spirit from RB but logically speaking if he is doing this for political gain then there is no sense but if he is doing for respect of life then it gud.@mushota bushe do u have a koboli?bcoz sometimes wht u say i do see any sense.walipena kwena,do u think u ar the only one who is abroad? being abroad is not matter wht matters is wht u do abroad.

  24. What Zambians need to work on is not the politicians we blog about, we have to work on our minds. We have to examine our minds and the values that control our minds and we have to edit some but delete many if not format our whole minds and re-load them with better workable values and beliefs that make sense. We behave as though someone else has to come from another place to change our country. What changes our circumstances as humans is not what we say but what we do about our circumstances. Not even what others say about us can change our circumstances. So, abash with the middle income statement. Ask yourself if that has changed your circumstances!!!! God Help this slumbering country!! God Help this slow attitude we have!! l HATE IT MWANDI…….

  25. I am not a supporter of the MMD or RB but this is a good gesture shown by RB. If he had kept quiet the same people would have condemned him. His message of condolences has nothing to do with politics but it is his duty as current head of state to convey condolences message in such instances. My condolences too.

  26. There are no political points to be had on either side.To hear this again sickens me to the core.Earlier this year we had an overloaded mini bus plunge in a river in Ndola.A few political tears were shed for the young lives lost.It was followed by a another serious accident in Nyimba, eastern province that Sata chose to politicised. In between countless unreported road-deaths.One would think enough is enough, someone should seize this vacuum in road and make it part of their centre piece of political campaign. Not in Zambia, they would rather talk about ‘Kaunda sick in Namibia’,’ballot rigging in SA and RB’s parents. This is shameful. It shows lack of quality opposition in our politics.Development cannot happen in isolation from good road. Other so-called opposition candidates must step up.

  27. Some bloggers seem to have no respect for the people who have died and their families. They need to reflect on what they are posting. Every Zambian life is precious to God. It is very sad to read some comments of the blogs which go against the Zambian tradition and Christianity. May God’s grace be with the families that are mourning and the people deceased R.I.P. We pray for peace and traveling mercies for ALL Zambians. God bless Zambia.

  28. To make it more practical, just check the blogging material just on this application. Look at the things you people are talking about. Analyze the mind and the values in this. Politicians always want to be popular with peoples views, so a politician seeing this material will only talk about what you people want, and that is, the trash in this blog..!!! Change your thinking Zambian and update your mind with the material that is upward and developmental. politics is not designed to be like a game but to serve people.

  29. There is need to analyse the statistics of road accidents in Zambia. Strict road regulations and fines have to be imposed to reduce accidents. Toll gates need to be introduced to raise funds to maintain these roads. Especially those heavy trucks from Congo to South Africa that damage the road.

  30. #19 Gundix & #29 Watart,
Your humane comments are worth noting. We are talking about 5 fellow Zambians who have so tragically lost their precious lives and it is sad that some people are making a mockery of this, bringing in dirty politics. I believe the president put politics aside and wholeheartedly sent his condolences. How does a normal human being make a mockery over the death of another human being? Do you have control over your life? Let’s be compassionate.

  31. THAT IS PART OF HIS JOB TO SHOW GOOD WILL TO THE PEOPLE…WHY CONGRATULATE HIM FOR SENDING MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES? WE AR USED TO OPPRESSSION THATS WHY…..IF MMD CAN BY SO MANY CANTERS, BICYCLES, BUSES FOR CAMPAIGN, WHY DO THE FAIL TO DO THE SAME FOR THE COUNCIL….OUR MONEY IS BEING USED BUT U PIPO AR WASHIPIN RB……THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE TO THE DOGS…..WE NEED MMD OUT SO THAT WE RECOVER AND INVESTIGATE WHERE THIS MONEY CAME FROM…..VIVA CHANGE VIVA PF

  32. Thanx Mr.President for showing us what true leaders should do…you are indeed a TRUE leader….my condolences to the families. But my family and i are voting 4 RB….The hour has come.

    • Ati unknown, kwisa caward iwe chatile chobe, what leadership qualities are u speaking about. Those are bumbo claat kicks of a dying sick old horse.WATCH yo dirty mouth.

  33. I thought they are your people too, because you claim to be the president of zambia why sending condolences to a political leader over the death of our citizens, zambian politics 50yrs behind.Come on fellow zambians wake up please…… people are even busy conglatulating the old man for the nosense too sad …………….

  34. #38 Protocol – indeed thats why after reflection RB realised that it can happen to his carders as well and in essence we are all Zambians coz even UNPD youths went to that same rally – ref LT

  35. Most of the comments here leaves much to be desired. You people its was just an accident , nothing sinister about it, its not RB’s or Sata’s fault. Can ypu please grow up and stop pointing fingers. just because it was carrying PF cadres you want to make a big story out of it? how many accidents do we hear of everyday? many! but you dont even get excited writing rubbish as you are doing right now! nonsense!!!!

  36. Ohh my God, families are now grieving for no benefit at all. It is the common man that is sucrificed in politics. You will never find children of these politicians in those unfit, over-loaded trucks singing and shouting slowgans and hungry. Learn something from this.

  37. What did RB say about the nyimba accident, if i may ask? never heard any condolences message to the bereaved families…

  38. PF NG’WANG’WAZIs BEWARE OF SATANISM IN PF SACRIFICING HUMAN BLOOD, NORTHWESTERN LOSES

Satan the satanist himself has again sacrificed these poor souls to his evil spirits in hope of winning elections. Cadres beware of this satanist.

Sata is satanist, Bob Sichinga, Wynter Kabimba and Given Lubinda are all Mormons daily converging at the Mormom lodges. Cadres beware you are yet to be sacrificed by these satanist. I challenge PF cadres here to dispute this fact. Ask Bob Sichinga. Ask them to touch the Bible, they will never.

  39. 47,48 and 49 wise coments men keep with the same spirit, the people involved in that accident are our brothers and sister nt cadres . *****s of Zed unit

  40. If you bloggers are the cream of Zambia then I cant imagine the levels of ignorance(ubututu) in the villages where you come from….. my God …………..Jesus …help us!! ……no wander this country is in ShiiiiiiT. LOL

  41. Mushota. I am warning you to desist from insulting Zambians. So what if a member of your pig family in kicks the bucket. Mind you I know you and your family in Mpika.

  42. Is it not true that as soon as the voting is over, these cadres are never remembered, excerpt for the lucky few that cause havoc at bus stations or those that illegally allocate land in the name of the party? How many of these slogan chanting crowds and panga wielding kaponyas feel any change of Government? Wake up you *****s, stop complaining and do something about your lives, time will never wait for you.

  43. I am patiently watching my friends and relatives included. Any one of these shouting more money in the pocket and raising that savage fist should never ever ask for money from me come election results. This is the same policy even when Sata uses magic to win the elections

  44. By the way Mushota, these issues we discuss here concern us Zambians, it does not concern people like you who have an inferiority complex. Have you run short of what to read in Glasgow? We don’t need you or your advice or your sick thinking, this is a Zambian thing.

  45. James Banda #2 and your ilk, You should be ashamed of yourselves.

You should be sharing the pain regardless of what your political affiliation is.

If I must warn you the pillar for the great countries you so admire is emphathy for others and respect for life, any life.

    It is also so unZambian.

I would expect any President, Sata or HH, to do what RB has done. It’s his duty.

Finally my condolences to the families of the fallen ones and PF and MTSRIP.

  46. This is misplaced yr excellency. As a President of all Zambians it would have been wise if the
message was sent to the bereaved families.Who knows if these people were just eager to go and
see how mr.sata looks like and listen to his funny jokes of name calling.e.g chanda chibw….
more over pf cadres dont even have party cards.

  47. Mushota chakuti chako.each time i read your comments they make sick i will tel LT to block you i cant stand someone who insults my country especially at times like this.its five lives we talking here not your ka fyonola’s uncle who has nothing to do with us.we are doing well than you but we dont boast that shows how poor your family is.komboni manners

  48. Fimo kuti waseka, imwe aka ka mushota kaume te kananakashi kaipanga fye, elyo five years kabafye na fiancee chikalaa chá wishi.ninshi akakopa lisa kaba akanyo ka menshi?

  49. #17 Kweshoni Mark??
Why should you reconcile what RB has said with what Daily Mail says?
Why not reconcile what SATA says to what the Daily Mail say?
Look RB and Daily mail are not the same thing, I wonder what your logic has driven you to (I assume you were using your logic when stating what you did).

    • maybe you rush into commenting without trying lto see what is being said! The Daily mail has now failed to report the condolences from RB becoz of the same headline. Look ZDM is his mouth piece!! My contributions contain long term logic and yours are short

  50. It is the RIGHT THING for RB to send condollences and for the media to be informed. This is what is done always and everywhere in the wolrd. It is a common practice by all leaders. I am shocked that some Zambians are expressing ignorance of how the president’s office operates.
It is surprising to see that some people are very proud to express ignorance to the fact whenever the president sends a message of condollences, whether within or outside the country it is always announced in the media.
This is common practice, may be only would be sending secret messages saying “DONCHI KUBEBA!”. Zambians you are amazing. That is why you accuse some people like Wynter of being Lawyers when they are not.

  51. i agree with what someone wrote, when you write something try and relate to the topic, its very easy to type what ever you feel like cause no one sees you.THIS IS DEATH OF OUR FELLOW ZAMBIAN TRYING TO BUILD ZAMBIA FOR EVERYONE.try and write sensible stories,THE LINE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ,WE ARE VERY SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF OUR 5 ZAMBIAN CITIZENS.please zambians have mercy for our brothers and sisters.THIS IS NOT FOR SATA,OR RUPIAH BANDA.WE SHOULD ALL MOURN RIGHT NOW.
    THANKS.

    • You know what ”Bamudala” over the past years Zambians have been taken for granted. Reading between the line, you cant tell me that Mr Rupia really means his words. I can bet my life on this, this man is just exploiting the situation for his political gain… but I am sorry we are now awake!!!

  52. Any sane Zambian would surely agree with me that Lupiya’s advocacy for peace and unity is due to the up-coming Elections. How come all of the sudden he has learnt what to say at the right time. Where has he been on many Pressing matters of the country??? Mr Lupiya Sir, I am a very angry Zambian and I love my country so much. Your deceptive behaviour won’t cheat us twice and dont you dare think of riging the election this time … We The Patriotic Zambians, will use any legal means to reposses our country!!!!

  53. i think lets wait and see where the funerals will be, then we can map how much cadre ferrrying is happening in Zed politics. my suspicion is some could be from as far as Kitwe, Ndola lusaka…..

  54. Sad indeed, my condolences to PF and Mr Sata. But if what I heard is true, then it is sad, I hear that Mr Sata simply cancelled the rally there and proceeded to Kabompo to address another rally. They had no time to waste giving help and relief for the injured and bereaved, organising the next rally was more important but the people will give the final opinion on 20-8-11.

  55. Thumbs up to you RB. I am also speaking on behalf of my relatives – American forces Sakala, Suicide Bomber Zulu and Twin towers Phiri. You are a mature leader RB. May the souls of our fallen brothers rest in peace.

  56. Zambians died in this tragedy and I convey my condolences. Suffice to state that RB is the one politicising the matter by sending his condolences to a political leader. Why not make it a general ‘Zambian message’? His motive is clear – so no need to praise him for making a statement that is meant to gain political mileage.

  57. The big man has realised that its good to send massage of condolonces when life is lost after many Lives were lost without doing so in the past but after being condermed by PF and Sata he’s now doing so which is GOOD.We all human we learn through Mistakes.Without Sata talking even these LOW LIFE SPAN ROADS they are doing is cause of Sata talk now when he is in charge
U can see a lot of change.

  58. RB means well. As a PF member I accept the message of condolences on my own behalf. Its very bad to lose life and more so in a very tight competition like this year’s election. May the souls of the departed ones rest in peace

  59. Your excellency you are the president of Zambia. The people who lost their lives are first of all Zambians and not PF members.Their families are now going through sorrow and anguish. The loss of one Zambian in an accident is a loss for the Nation.Your excellency well done for exhibiting political maturity.

  60. All of you who speak bad about me, you re jealous of my luxury way of living. Even if you insult me that will not change how i hate zed with passion.

  61. i feel for zambians , they still very much sleeping whilst talking. you need to wake up. And dont politize accidents be human guys. jokes aside.
