MMD dismisses talk of violence should opposition lose

General News MMD dismisses talk of violence should opposition lose

MMD Deputy National secretary Chembe Nyangu

The ruling Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has dismissed Centre for Policy Dialogue executive director Neo Simutanyi’s warning that violence is certain if the opposition loses the forthcoming general elections.

MMD deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu says there is no need for anyone to assume that the opposition will win the elections claiming that the opposition lost the time the date of elections was announced.

Mr. Nyangu observes that the law enforcement agencies in the country will not allow lawlessness by a handful of disgruntled people.

In an interview with QFM, Mr.Nyangu has warned that as a party in government, the MMD will not condone any form of violence by any unruly citizens.

Mr. Nyangu has accused the opposition political parties in the country of trying by all means to cause confusion in the country as a way of crying over their defeat.

He has assured citizens to remain calm as there will be no violence before, during and after the polls slated for 20th September, 2011.

  1. I totally agree with Chembe Nyangu. There will be no violence in Zambia contrary to the wishes and predictions of some opposition supporters. Firstly, we’re a nation that prays fervently and passionately. Secondly, zambians do not have the mentality of some nationalities and would not want to risk their lives and investments over a few disgruntled and selfish poiliticians. Thirdly, the few people who would want to fan violent protests are cowardly and won’t have the capacity to sustain a protracted revolution – just a few gunshots will disperse them and send them into hiding! Fourthly, our security system is very efficient and capable of nipping the problem in the bud. finally, most zambians are content with the status quo and don’t see the need to disrupt the peace in the country.

  2. The govt should start identifying potential pf trouble makers now, like mr frank bwalya. So that when they lose and start making noise, they are locked up secretly like in the old unip days

  3. Chap says there is no violence!….is that ketchup smeared on the Chongwe victims of MMD violence or is it blood? Will it only be violence when MMD supporters are victims? Chaps get your heads out of your a***ses. In the last elections, only 45% of eligible voters cast their vote and out of these 60% did NOT vote for RB. Therefore, only 18% of all eligible voters actually supported RB or put another way 82% did not support him!…therein lies the source of the potential problem in our electoral system which could lead to the whole thing unraveling after elections

  4. Who ever lived in Hwange (Wankie) in the 1050s-60s could have experienced a diversity of traditional dances on Sundays. In that Coal-Mining Town, a dance performed by the Mwachusas with men wearing their togas was fascinating. One could only see men and women dance to the rhythm of drums without hearing any song. When one asks as to why they dance in silence, the explanation given was that the Mwachusas usually sing in advance on a Saturday, but come Sunday a dance is performed without a song. Hence the behaviour of PF takes the Mwachusa culture of crying in advance over their ultimate loss after 20th Sept 2011. Chashalako ba PF kubalilako kulila lero, mailo kukaba kushana (in silence) epela. Apparently, Sata is a Mwachusa himself.

  6. Sata and PF are losing again and I can assure the Zambians that there will not be any violence.Sata, his Hench men,the entire PF and who ever will try anything stupid will be crushed beyond redemption.

    • Rat and Cockroaches like Great King Muamar Gadaffi used to tell stupid fan Libyans that they would crushed. Yes here in Zambia these cockroaches and Rats will be crushed too.

  7. It is impossible to win elections in Zambia through coercion, thuggery, anachronistic tactics as PF is demonstrating in its rituals of chopping of lives with pangas at rallies. All said PF has lost the plot and its leaders are getting more and more disoriented and hopeless. They have lamentably failed to reconnect with Zambians in this election hence turning to acts of sadistic options and sharia wars of attrition against Zambians a thing that will not be allowed under our watch. All in all violence against who if vandals will not vandalize themselves hediously? Do these PF thugs in leadership rehearsing murder against Zambians reside on Mass themselves or are immune from their schemes of thuggery? I wish them best of luck and responsibility for their acts against Zambians.

  8. My Appeal to Pf & Sata supporters is NOT to ignore the following;
Sata was stealing with Kafupi when he was the third most powerful member of Kafupi’s government. During that same period Sata was also hostile and abusive towards the private media. He was for ZNBC & Times of Zambia but strongly anti Post. Sata was also a beneficiary of the Government corruption of sending politicians to Morning side Hospital for treatment when common citizens are not afforded the same privileges. Sata also wanted Kafupi to continue like a Wamuyaya so that Sata could continue stealing and enjoying with Kafupi. Sata is bad for politics and Bad for Zambia. He is good for comedy, but the presidency is not a laughing matter. Vote Wisely , Vote HH or RB.

    • “Sata was stealing with Kafupi” and what exactly is RB doing? Your determination to stick your head in the sand when it comes to the corrupt practices of RB “is not a laughing matter” either. If you want to use corruption as a means to determine the credibility of each candidate then neither Sata, RB nor HH measure up, so get real.

  9. Why are you saying the opposition can not win. Are you telling us RB is standing with a frog for them not to win and why dispute the poles. Learn to accept the predictions the race is hot and don’t say PF or MMD will win wait until after people have voted. Learn from the western the way they predict.

  10. Yes they lost political capital the day they killed their prematurely born PACT only to be killed by their own natural greed and lack of purpose. They should have intelligently expended their capital throughout the campaign period but alas, they are of school yard political theatre. They called for these tripartite elections, RB announced the date but they were hardly ready. MMD launched its national wide campaign with full deployment of campaign machinery; sole losers were busy dreaming that they could land massive high-level defections from MMD. They launched 10 frivolous suits in the independent courts of justice all thrown away with cost. Since they have been venting vanity but too drivel. Look at them they have asphyxiated themselves irredeemably. Strategy is everything in life.

  11. Mulongoti, Mpombo,Jack Kalala are on the ground in the lambaland while Mbita is in Northern and Luapula doing massive underground campaign works for president MC Sata who is headed for landslide vicotry on 20th september.

  12. Election Results
    PF – 43%
    MMD- 31%
    UPND – 14%
Others 9Inclusive smaller parties, apathy, spoiled, rejected ballots, etc – 12%
    Vivi PF :d

  13. #4,
You are completely out of order. You are behaving like one who is very desperate.
How do you insult our neighbours, and draw them into our confused politics?

  14. It is very irresponsible for Dr Simutanyi to make such statements.
Simutanyi lacks both wisdom and reality – seems to be engulfed in a box of confused PF cardres who understand not democracy.
It is extremely irresponsible for him to advocate for violence.
As a Dr the nation expects better from him than those Kaponya statements he is making.
He studied a lot to earn his doctorate but I think during all the years of his excellent study HE LEARNT NOTHING.

  15. Since 2001 God knows that MMD has never won an election. They have just been assisted by state machinery. No wonder the rule of MMD will never liberate zambian from poverty because it is coupled with massive open corruption, government link business conection and presidential candidates who never thought of rulling Zambia one.

    • Exactly! The MMD has done NOTHING to improve the lives of Zambians. All it has done is steal from the poor and  enrich its members as well as ensure that corruption is entrenched in the Zambian society. For how long will Zambians hit their heads on the wall before they realize that they are bleeding  profusely and need to STOP.

  16. I dont know what you are urging . You have already started experiencing violence and you are saying there will be no violence. William Banda has started

  17. Before I make a comment on Dr Simutanyi, someone tell me what he said exactly. QFM is not a reliable interpreter of news, they have a questionable knowledge of English comprehension, and their reporting is affected as result of that deficiency. One would have hoped that a responsible radio station would have quoted what Dr Simutanyi actually said. QFM is also guilty of queer behaviour akin to the Post.

  18. # 18. For your info. Simutanyi is not a Dr. Come to UNZA and look at the University handbooks. No where does the title of Dr. appear next to that of Neo Simutanyi. He never completed his doctorate at Cambridge when he was there. This is a fact. I have been at UNZA for close to two decades.

  19. Neo wishes violence would follow the loss of his prefered party..but he will be sorry he spoke out of turn. Chongwe was a sorry sight, Guy Scott, Wynter who were telling their cadres to fight if provoked were snug in their gated houses whilst the foot soldiers were clobbered. Silvya Tembo the librarian turned politician was also gone from the scene only to appear after blood had been spilt. Neo dont talk about things you should not wish for a country anyway in the world. 20 Sept is 13 days away by this time in two weeks time voting will be over and we can go back to being sane.

  20. The Post newspaper is the one perpetuating post election violence because in their opinion, Sata will win come sun or rain. If Sata does not carry the day then it is hellfire. In the event that there is post election violence the blame will squarely be on the doorsteps of the Post they must be held accountable. Viva RB, you will carry the day

  21. # 28 U r very rite Mmembe namakando is very stupid he wants war just becoz zambian airways was taken away from the thief becoz he couldnt pay what he was supposed to pay hypocrite and now finance bank which gave him money has to get back their cash added salt to the injury.Fred waba etallay ukubeka chi-color.
