  1. Congrats for stepping down. We hold you in high esteem despite Mmembe’s wicked agenda to paint you black. We know he will never say anything good about you. But thats not your problem, its Mmembe’s wickedness. Choipa chisata mwine. All the best in your future endeavours. You are a true statesman.

    • Iwe Zodiac and Gundix….how do u congratulate someone for resigning from a non-existing party?..you two must be stupid just like the party members themselves…..the party is done KWASILA!!! Well done registrar!!!

  2. Clever RB. You were only President for three years. The accumulation on fees to the Registrar is not your fault mwandi.

    Your resignation is timely.

  3. LT editors must be serious or maybe you do things in a rush fearing to be caught. Do run this online paper from a public office? Could by chance Mr. Siliya be the husband to Dora Siliya?

  4. RB has lived to fulfil his word to the letter. He publicly announced to retire from politics soon after MMD lost to PF. These are tenets of democracy and History will respect Ba Rupiah Banda for practicing true democracy in Africa. A rare political episode indeed. Rest well ATATA A RUPIAH BANDA. God bless him and the MMD leadership in these trying moments. May God bestow wisdom on this nation.

  5. go and enjoy the millions government wil pay you as an ex president while mmembe wallows in poverty and hatred.

    • Impeachment is not violent – it just means that since people voted a person into power, they can also vote him out. It is part of democracy.

  6. RB has not stepped down. The party he was leading MMD has been deregistered. In reality he has ne party to lead.
What a way to exit, after destroying the party?

  7. Rupiah Banda steps down as MMD President afetr party fails to pay membership fee.How does that sound.Imwe Ba Mudala you were supposed to retire long ago. What a bad farewell sorry farebad.

  8. RB is morally stable than Sata and stepping down is not a big issue to him because his mind was already prepared.Take a look at Sata with his bubuz in office,is he ready or was he ready? He has just brought shame to this country.

  9. Mr Siliya also announced that Mr Banda will hold a press briefing at 08:30 Hours at his residence tomorrow.
He should have resigned at the card renewal exercise. now, there will be no MMD to defend his immunity in parley. Pf will just bulldoze it. And from the way things are going, jail is yawning wide open for him and his cohorts. i think the cobra will bite where it hurts most. Things are getting ruthless for our former leaders. i can foresee many of these politicians inside.

  10. Zambia belongs to many millions of Zambians.
Zambia does not only belong to politicians.
Zambia belongs to all zambians, and it is wrong for politicians to be selfish and be willing to spend billions of kwacha against just a meagre K400 Million arrears.
A wise person will weigh the benefits of any action against disadvantages. And any unselfish person will not trumple on the plight of all Zambians to advance his agenda and selfish interest.
PF is not persueing the agenda and plight of the citizens, but that of their own.
If you know that to run another election for MPs and cansellors will cost tens of billions you can not only allocate K11 Billion to youths in the nation for the whole year, and yet be willing to facilitate stuations leading to bye elections to spend billions!!

  11. This BUFF**N RB was just a UNIPIST hand-picked from his farm in Chipata just yesterday, this is the man all those MMD and UNDP members have been protecting, you let him act as President for what? Wasted time.. that could have been used to elect a more potent opposition leader. He can’t even be loyal when the party needs him most…I guess its self preservation time!!

  12. @24, You crack my ribs. Any way mwandi you are trying. Next time try to say….. Ba lusaka times Engilsh your staff to know who do…it sounds better.kekekekekekeke

  13. Why should we stick to English alone? Our neighboring countries use their native languages as official ways of communication. I see nothing wrong in using lozi or Tonga because Am Zambian. We’ve allienated our selves with English coz if I make a mistake in bemba no one will laugh at me but in English every one will laugh at me. Cecil Rhodes damaged our thinking

    • Every Japanese is learning english, every chinese is learning english!! my freind welcome to the global village, next time you plan you trip to SA or Dubai think about what language you will be speaking….

  14. Mr Banda will be remembered as a great selfless man. He helped the late Mwanawasa at the time the MMD could have lost in Eastern province. Great men are men of few words. I just hope the men around President Sata are not around him for the sake of carrying out newspaper friendly agenda. Power always attracts fair weather friends.

  15. Kapwa akapiya so he wants his GRZ entitlement to be reinstated. This old demonker loves money. I won’t miss you. Zambia is a better place without your plunder with your sons. Next should be to have you brought before justice.

  16. MMD is going to split…Mutati Vs Nevers. I see Mutati winning this one. Mumba has made several enemies.

  17. It was actually Sata who accumulated those fees. He was the party’s chief executive officer for most of the 90s until he left the party because Chiluba chose Mwanawasa as his successor.

  18. RB has abandoned the sinking ship. He want to save his pension…way to go Lupiya ‘Money’ Banda….This week will be for MMD press conferences …I just waiting for the next one tomorrow…Zed never a dull comment..

  19. Some of you are too blind to see where this whole thing is going, this konya in state house wants to get rid of the opposition. It is not good for democracy. Why do people despise RB? This is a man who lost an election and conceded. He deserves credit for that. You must be out of your mind if you think Sata would have done the same. You planted a dictator in State House. Zambia will continue sliding on the international scene because of your president that only Kaponya’s can relate to.

  20. You RB, should have done this in September last year. Why wait until now. Because PF was going to cut your expresido pay? Or because you knew that the MMD was going to be a dead party by March 2012? Clever for you on this one, I give you a thumbs up. Now, go find your chi son and tell him ba JUSTICE is looking for him.

  21. R.B. Please find your corrupt son and ask him for some money to pay. Otherwise you will be remembered as the one who caused MMD’s demise. What are you stepping down from?
The all country knows what de-registered mean’s. Dora, your son alone can pay the fee a few times over.

  22. PLIZ LEAVE BANDA ALONE. YOU PAY LAW ENFORCERS TO FIND AND BRING PEOPLE TO JUSTICE, THEY SHOULDNT JUST PARADE FOR THE PRESIDENT AS HE PASSES. AND IF YOU HAVE EVIDENCE AGAINST HIM AND HIS OWN PLIZ BE GOOD CITIZENS AND TAKE IT TO EITHER THE POLICE (ZP), DEC OR ACC, THEN THE PROSECUTOR GENERAL CAN TAKE IT UP. DON’T TAKE IT TO MMEMBE-HE WILL ONLY PUT IT IN HIS PAPER, TRY TO OIL THE WAY FOR HIS FRIEND, NCHITO AND NOTHING MORE. SO IN ORDER TO CAGE BANDA TAKE THE PROOF TO WHERE IT REALLY MATTERS. I BET NONE OF YOU BLOGGERS HAVE ANYTHING ON BANDA APART FROM WHAT YOU READ IN THE POST OR WHAT SOMEONE SAID THEY HEARD OR READ-THAT IS MERE GOSSIP…I END HERE. THANK YOU!!! BON VOYAGE ANALUME aBANDA. I FOR ONE RESPECT, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST YOU.

  23. Nyama soya atina, ati balamupoka pension, in any case, does this thief qualify for any pension as caretaker, after the demise of LPM and the coming in of MCS

  24. 7 – 0. That is what we call strategy, clean and legal, then this … thinks he can out wit … and become presido! GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  25. I FEEL SORRY FOR ZAMBIA AND ZAMBIANS. IT IS THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO STEP ON. I WOULD RATHER DIE AS A DESTITUTE IN DIASPORA THATN BE IN ZAMBIA. MMD WAS PATHETIC, PF IS WORSE THAN THE WORD IT SELF. WHO WANTS TO BELONG TO A GROUP OF FAILURES.
