President Michael Sata was on Sunday discharged from the hospital in Ahmedabad, India. The online media DeshGujarat reports that Mr. Sata was discharged from the hospital in the evening, after which he reached the Taj hotel near airport.

“The President of Zambia is expected to leave Ahmedabad today(unconfirmed)” says the reports.

Reports say the Zambian President is on private visit to India for medical treatment was operated on Saturday in city’s Samved hospital.

“It is unconfirmed but, possible that the President is in Ahmedabad for the treatment of benign enlargement of Prostate. At Samved hospital in Ahmedabad, this illness is treated by GreenLight laser (KTP Laser). The treatment is non invasive without bleeding. A patient can start eating and taking fluids within 2 hours of surgery and can be ready to go home in less than 24 hours (without the catheter”.

Mr. Sata accompanied by the first lady Dr. Christine Kaseba, spokesperson George Chella, President Sata arrived at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in a chartered flight on Thursday at around 10.00 pm.

Mr. Sata was given the state guest status, proper security has been provided at Taj Gateway Hotel near the Ahmedabad airport where he is staying.

The good part is that it has been caught in the early stages otherwise the president would have been under the knife and the recovery would have been long and complicated. Long live the president.     KK used to anounce publicly that he is going in for a medical check up. RB used to anounce publicly that he is going to South Africa for a knee check up and fix.

    Why didn’t the PF just announce that President Sata is going to India for a medical check up? We all know that our hospitals are not were we would want them to be. And we know that Mr Sata is 75 years old, which is remarkable for a former chain smoker, and would need regular doctor visits. This is normal.

    Why is PF being secretive about this?

There could have been a lot of national sympathy and support if we had been informed, well in advance, that the President was ‘not well.’ I hope lessons have been learnt. It is wrong to wish people ill and I hope the president has learnt that becoz his disease might lead him to have red lips too or another symptom what will he do.   70. @ Tremendous Zem-Sata has been celebrating the illnesses of Mazoka, Mwanawasa and of late Geroge Kunda. Does it mean that these named men and their family have not felt the pain? Some people are merely giving Sata the same medicine that he has unleashed on his fellow human being. Maybe Sata won’t actually mind if others celebrated, he will acknowledge that he too has done it to gain political mileage. Tit for tat situation.

  75. Every person at some point suffers from some sort of illness/sickness. If Sata is poorly he just has to say it no big deal really. Yes some illnesses need proper and careful assesssment him being the Head of State and carrying the security of the country with him. So all this icho chise type of reports are just unnecessary.   102. More drama in the offing. We remember the much-publicised incident when Mwanawasa extended his humanitarian gesture by sending Sata for emergency treatment in South Africa. He was certainly unconscious when the ambulance flew him to Johannesburg. Later, after the untimely demise of Mwanawasa, the Cobra spat his usual venom by stating that Mwanawasa’s gesture of sending him to South Africa was a political gimmick. The Indian Govt and Indians resident in Zambia will soon have their share of SCORN when Sata recovers to revert into his natural relapses.
