Chipimo calls for a national conference to address tribal politics

THE National Restoration Party (NAREP) has added its voice on the need to address the issue of tribal politics that is gradually affecting Zambia. NAREP president Elias Chipimo said in an interview yesterday that if the issue of tribalism in the political arena was left unchecked it might cause serious consequences.

Mr Chipimo said a national conference to discuss the best solutions of dealing with tribalism in politics should be called.

His party was willing to share the table with other political leaders and stakeholders to come up with a solution which would address the issue of a non-tribal society.

“There is need for the involvement of all leaders, youths and women to come together and discuss how we can have a non-tribal society,” he said.

He however, said there was nothing wrong for people to associate with people who shared similar cultural trends, but this should not be done to disadvantage other tribes.

“There is basically nothing wrong with tribalism, as people always feel close to people they share the similar culture with. What is wrong is excluding others based on tribal grounds,” he said.

Last week Vice-President Guy Scott said political leaders who want to engage in politics on tribal grounds were wasting their time as there was no room for that in Zambia.

    • Chpimo is right. We need Sata and HH to solve this Tonga /Bemba tribal bigotry as it is a result of the break up of the PACT. Before the PACT, Bembas and Tongas never traded tribal language.
Other political parties dont talk tribalism.

    • No no no…We don’t need such political conferences, but what we do need is a serious National conference to brain storm on:1) Total overhaul of the Legal& JUDICIAL SYSTEM
      2) OVERHAULING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM &STRUCTURE to be responsive to Zambia becoming a PRODUCER as opposed to CONSUMER state .
      3) Brain storm, A MARSHAL PLAN for TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER in view of Zambia becoming truly economically independent &developed by 2030 onwards
      4) Come up with a workable STRATEGY for JOB CREATION and POVERTY REDUCTION.
by FORMULATING A 3 by 3 by 3 PRACTICAL PLAN of developing 3industries in each province thru PPP &FDI for job creation on the principle of GEOECONOMIC -GEOPOLITICAL distribution with tax free zones as incentives.
      And
      5) Many more from mining, agriculture,

  1. This boy should be bold enough to tell Sata that his tribal bigotry is wretching havoc to the fabric of One Zambia One Nation. I fully concur with #1, let him start with the composition of the Rio delegation, and the Zambian cabinet plus all ambassador appointments and he will see that Zambians outside of the Northern caucases have a genuine reason to feel left out and if this is not addressed, Zambia as we know it could fall apart.

  2. Wll said!! HH and his minions are tribalists!UPND is a tribal party headed by a village headman!

  3. #1 – Zedian – Can you please give us the figures and tribes of people that went to RIO+20. It would be nice to have facts.

    • Amayama, you seem quite convinced that there is tribal balance among those who went to Brazil and in Mr. Sata’s entire government.

While waiting from #1, Zedian to respond, perhaps you would be so kind as to share your facts and figures rather than merely demand evidence from others? Else, it hardly seems fair for you tell Zedian (or anyone else on this site) to keep their mouth shut.

    • #5.1 Champ – All I want is evidence based utterance and nothing more. If you looked into deep in this tribal accusations you will just be embarrased.

    • The truth is that if any other tribe presented an obvious fool like HEMCS for president there would be a great outcry. There has been a tribal agenda by some tribes from the night without a president in Kaunda days. Even the election of FTJ to president of MMD was started by an organized Bemba grouping. Zambia has been under seige by tribalists for a very long time and anyone who condemns or points this out is labelled a tribalists by the very perpetrators of tribalism

  4. Chipimo, are you trying to tell Sata to be inclusive? the biggest tribalist we have in our country is Sata. 90 percent of his government is made ip of bembas

  5. I have never felt this level of ethnic tension in Zambia since Sata came to power. To be registered, all political parties must have no more than 35% of their membership from 1 province with rest coming from the other provinces of the country. This will ensure only parties that represent the entire zambia participate in our politics

  6. Zambians, please, stop thinking that any politician can change your life…you just have to work hard like me!
    Thanks

  7. I have no problem with my bemba or ngoni friends, and I won’t let any politician play the tribal card on me for him or her to gain a vote. I didn’t grow up in the village where such things may matter, and it has not been because of my tribe that I’m living a good life, but hardwork, and yes I appreciate my tribe.

  8. One man parties rely on ethnic of origin of the leader. Such leaders practice ethnic patronage to continue enjoying the support of their regions. Government must fund political parties that meet the test of national representation and audit the parties (independently) on a five yearly basis to ensure they uphold their constitutions too. This way democracy can mature and be slowly entrenched

  9. Chipimo is being silly and daft. Why doesn’t he come out openly and say all Bembas need a conference on tribalism to address the issue of how not to be selfish and tackle Sata’s extreme form of tribalism. Secondly, Chipimo is being stupid to insult us by suggesting that we do not recognise the need for people to associate with each other acording to where they come from. Tribalism cannot be good and bad at the same time. Tribalism is tribalism, by definition tribalism is a negative practice. You can’t say there is nothing wrong with racism except where it begins to discriminate against other races…what the heck are you talking about Chipimo?!!! Politics is f.u.c.k.i.n.g up your brains man! It is the Bembas who badly need the conference, not any other tribe.

  10. HH has been playing a tribal card from the word go and it is because the people in UPND said the wanted a tonga to be their president. The seed of tribalism was planted at that point and HH has been carrying the torch.

    • The only party as far as I know to have done that. And they started ‘expelling’ the Chisangas, sikotas and Sichingas. Now wants to be the party that has seen tribalism developing in Zambia> Please. UPND stated clearly only a Tonga would lead party. When sata satrted PF, he didnt say it was only for bembas. he embraced lozis, whites, lenjes, basically whoever wanted to jon him. Now u want to label him tribalist. The greatest tribalist is HH, who stepped forward when UPND said a Tonga must lead. HH never saw anything wrong. Proudly stepped fwd and took the Tonga torch. Can you imagine what his cabinet will be or does anyone doubt? look at who surrounds and there u have ur answer.

    • what has he done with the torch? i agree when you said “it is because the people in UPND said the wanted a tonga to be their president” you are right on that one, i can recall. HH has not appointed anyone on tribal grounds, the list goes on……… Sata has always won the northern and Kopala vote since PF took off. Mazoka  got the southern vote in 2001, no other party won in southern province in 2001. HH was to mazoka like GBM is to Sata. GBM who is known to be violent and an abusive husband is your defence minister.

    • @Great UNZA not so great after all… Sichinga is an asset now?….lol the man is a liability, thats why his not upnd.  Sikota is the one shielding the thief you are chasing….as of Chisanga i dont know him.

  11. When we deceive, delude or deny to our self, we mislead our self, we misrepresent or disown what we know to be true, we lie to our self, we refuse to acknowledge that which we know. In other words, we do not see what it is that we do not see, because our minds are in protective mode to protect itself against anxiety by diminishing awareness. This mechanism produces a blind spot: a zone of blocked attention & self-deception. Such blind spots occur at each major level of behavior from the psychological to the social. It is this blind spot that clouds most Bemba minds today to Sata’s dangerous tribal bigotry.

  12. As a people, we are today presented with a scenario that is too disturbing, threatening or anomalous to be fully absorbed or openly acknowledged. No matter how much Bembas repress, disavow or indeed reinterpreted Sata’s divisive rule, it does not take away the fact that Zambia is nailed to a ticking time bomb, anything can happen.

  13. I don’t understand why we have to degrade others to put our point across.
At any rate, I believe in One Zambia, One Nation!
If you still see tribes, then you are the problem. Vote. Vote into power, people who can perform — not because of their names.
Please mature and grow up my country — we cannot be talking about tribes in this day and age.

Who am I fooling – stay tribalistic, hate your country, condemn your neighbour, and finally, perish in peace.

  14. What will a conference on tribalism achieve? Chipimo should be bold enough to denounce Sata’s tribalism as Nevers Mumba has done. A conference on tribalism is a waste of time. If Chipimo came up with a solution of how to organise the country as a federation of provinces like what they have in South Africa, I would be first one to applaud. If he feels embarrassed by Sata’s tribalism he should say so openly. Speaking for myself I do not care what Sata does with his government I do not depend on it for my livelihood. I will never ask for a job from the PF government.

    • Good idea indeed!! Federation of provinces, then people can choose who rules them in the provinces, BUT at federal level, parties will have to woo all provinces – it may be costly, BUT people will feel involved in running their local affairs & the inkling of tribalism might just be lessened a tad & defuse some tensions becoz the current bitterness is unbecoming!!!

  15. It is about time Zambians tackled this problem. The whole thing started in the Chiluba government on the ground, but not in leadership. Now the problem is institutional. It is a shame. When I was growing up in Zambia, tribe was nothing. I am sure now people indicate on their CVs what tribe and clan they belong to! This is another form of corruption

  16. 3 problems in Zambia:
Bemba dominance led and reinforced by Sata
Tonga bitterness and deep rooted tribalism advocated by UPND under HH
Lozi confusion, selfishness and lack of identity, led by silly selfish individuals and motivated by lack of care from Sata

  17. Positively pointing at the elephant in the room is progressive. Reacting to it negatively is regressive. Either tribalism is a scourge to be eradicated or it is a non issue. It cannot be both :)

  18. If party leaders shall be tribal then Museveni’s ‘no party’ politics are the best for our mediocre politics. At least the instrument of brainwashing those that are easily brainwashed is done away with.

  19. Tribalism should not have been allowed to rear its ugly head. Thought it was nipped in the bud way back, we never so this when we were growing up on the Copperbelt. Let those in authority ensure there is harmony in the nation and stop activities that seem to favour people from ethnic group.

  20. This is good call big up Chipimo….. Zambians have shown even amongst bloggers tribal traits hence the need to address it collectively at least if it settles well to some people with full hatred toward other tribes it will avoid any ingredients for any unwanted arrests in Zambia. Critics on the bloggers criticise the President on what he says and how he says or done appointments yet themselves call each names and disregards another fellow Zambian of another tribes’ plight… Lets talk

  21. All positions of influence for Bembas. If you don’t have bemba blood running in you, you can go to hell. Lookk at the cabinet, look at the delegation to Rio, look at the diplomatic postings, CEOs of parastatals. Only %^&$ jobs like police commissioner are given to other tribes so that you dull people can deal with each other as we eat and watch the circus.

  22. All the Political Parties should be free to go around Zambia for their manisfesto. The politicians and the cadres should remove the word from their mouth “STRONGHOLD” . PF stronghold, UNPD stronghold and etc. This is one of inciting tribalism.

  23. It’s funny with all this anxiety how nobody can bring facts and figures, just talking loudly as if at a tavern drinking. So let me bring some notable non-Bembas to try to encourage provision of facts by those who are crying about Bembas:

    Scott
    Lubinda
    Kaunda
    Simusaa
    Sata (he’s a Bisa)

    • Bemba’s even deny that they are Bemba. This is the problem we have here. No one will admit being Bemba peharps we should use the term Northerners to avoid ambiguity. Leave Scott out of this argument he is not from any of the 73 tribes. his case is special.

    • Scott – Chola Boy, Lubinda – moved to foreign affairs so he has no political roots in zed, kaunda – moved away from defence, Simusaa – useless, Sata – Don’t waste our time with this, ii’ll add Wina – most useless ministry ever(totally insulted). Now the people listed above what is the proportion to Bemba’s in cabinet? Look at things honestly!

  24. Tribes have been in existence for a long time but the current leadership is itching to develop only the areas they come from. Ministrial appoitntments are all on tribal lines.. Tribal balancing might be of help since tribes exist.

  25. #20 Your violation of intellectual logic stinks. It is fallacious arguments like yours that give credence to the notion that Africans are naturally born stupid. Sata lied to the Lozis so why should they care about him? Tongas and Kaondes constitute a significant part of our population and yet have zero representation in Sata’s cabinet, is this not a reason to be agrieved especially after Sata blamed Mumba for not developing Chinsali when he was veep? It is this glaring lack of ability to reason intellectually and progressively that poses the gravest danger to the sustainability of a unitary state in Zambia.

  26. @SK cikala, go to hell with your hatred of Tongas and HH. Wanunka mukanwa cikala, waba amafi kumatako, who doesn’ t know that you are a tribalist ? Twaleni uko ubupuba bobe, if you have got nowhere to dump it please, take it back kubafyashi bobe. Pamenso ububi kwati bakunyele fye nga mafi yakupolomya pelibwe. Leave HH and the Tongas alone we shilu we.

    • Well, he can be either Bemba or Ngoni!!! Names can be deceiving at times, becoz like, “Chanda” is a name found both in Bemba, & India of all places, so not everyone called Chanda is Bemba!!!!

  27. stupid chipimo, who can listen to a foolish bemba like you.Abash manyukunyuku like chipimo.viva liato.

  28. Yes Chipimo you are talking sense but please start with Sata and Mmembe plus the chola boy Scott, they are the ones in the forefront promoting tribalism in the country. You can not solve a problem if you can’t identify it. Sata has been in the fore front labelling any lozi, tonga or ngoni who has been a threat to him a tribalist. Sata called Arthur Wina a tribalist, he called Mazoka a tribalist, he called RB a tribalist and now he is busy poisoning every bemba who listens to him with the notion that HH is a tribalist. Sata uses his vuvuzela the Post(Mmembe) and his chola boy Scott(conveniently since he doesn’t belong to any Zambian tribe) to spread his evil message.

  29. look at our cabinet.

sata, mwamba, kasonde, chikwanda, sichinga, sakeni, luo, chishimba, chenda, the list is endless.all these are bembas.guys cant you learn on how kk united us.please twapapa try to balance your cabinet, get at least 2 full cabinet minister from all the 10 province.you mean only northern & luapula its where we find educated people to be in cabinet?

    • Short memory!! That was when Zed was one party state, so KK was obligated with his policies to try & equalise. However, with our current parties, that are started by individuals who fork out to maintain them  & thus demand or expect personal loyalty & only themselves to vie for presidency, WE WILL HAVE to wait for a generation or two, ALTERNATIVELY we have to go back to square one as we did with MMD – a party that is FORMED BY A COLLABORATION OF INDIVIDUALS OF WITH COMMON IDEALS – who then HOLD A CONVENTION to select a leader who will CARRY THE DEMOCRATIC AUTHORITY THAT NO ONE WILL FIND WANTING!!!

  30. Chipimo reflects the mentality of Bembas. Bembas have no mentality of tribalism otherwise they could have settled only in Northern Province but they travelled far and wide because they believed its not only their place that counted but the whole Zambia. Our friends demand “restorations” because they can’t mix with anyone. Our friends vote for tribal parties because they can’t see beyond their religions. Zambia can only be liberated with the Bemba mentality. They can mix with anyone and they have shown it in the history of Zambia.

    • There are 72 tribes. Majority are not tribal and freely live with anyone else. Tongas and Lozis have long been known to be tribal and seek to associate only with themselves. Yet everyone else did not see that as a problem. We all got along and live One Zambia one nation. There was never a problem until the PACT between Sata and HH fail apart. That is where the problem lies. The PACT, HH and Sata.

    • These statements above are from two tribalists who don’t even know they are tribalists. Bemba’s moved around the country because they are generally thieves and lazy people looking for a free meal. Other tribes settled and did well in their respective provinces. We need to have constitutional changes that ensure tribal balancing. An opressor (like the Bemba’s) has never relinquished power voluntarily. The Oppressed must take it and demand their place in society.

  31. instead of fight tribalism we need to embrace it. it can be used to power up the country. let also move toward autonomy of provinces.  this will lead to more freedom and prosperity rather than war

  32. #35 – If coming up with government that are full of Bembas is what you call progressive, then you have never heard of Rwanda and Burundi. And coming from so close to those two tragedies, your blindness to reality is truly in the most PK Chishala extreme. For one, I would rather you kept this so called Bemba mentality of your of 90% cabinet to yourselves and 99% ambassadors from Bembeland to yourselves. Just how turning a country into a Bantustan can be deemed progressive only proves one thing, “ma office ama siyana siyana” and that our tailed primates from “Ituri ku Buluba” are still evolving!

  33. He says, “There is basically nothing wrong with tribalism….” Really? Then why the need for a national conference on tribalism if there is nothing wrong with tribalism. Mr Chipimo just educate the number one tribalist in Zambia about the dangers of tribalism.

  34. UPND’s president talks more on tribal grounds. He should stop it if he wants to be President.
By the way DO YOU WANT TO HAVE THE ZAMBIAN FIRST LADY TO BE an INDIAN? Coz HH is married to an Indian lady. So think twice in traditional way if a son marries another tribe he will never be the King. Digest this.

  35. A truthful appraisal of the status quo is necessary but the truth is that if any other tribe presented an obvious fool like HEMCS for president there would be a great outcry.
Chipimo should not attempt to toy around with people who are tired of oppression it will backfire

    • A bemba grouping were not the architect behind the coming into being of MMD. It was the works of seasoned politicians, great statemen i might add; the Winas, the Nkumbulas, the Mwangas, the Zimbas, and Mwanawasa. Chiluba was brought in as a salable commodity and was not part of the initial engineering that brought in multipartism.

  36. Chipimo might have a point. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT WHILE WHITE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PUNISHED FOR RACIAL REMARKS, TRIBAL REMARKS GO UNPUNISHED THOUGH IN REALITY, TRIBALISM IS MORE DANGEROUS FOR COUNTRIES LIKE ZAMBIA.THIS IS BECAUSE THERE IS NO LEGAL DEFINATION FOR THE WORD TRIBALISM. WHAT WE WANT ARE BOLD ACTIONS AGAINST TRIBALISM BY POLITICAL LEADERS. JUST LIKE CIVIL SERVANTS, LET POLITICIANS SERVE ANYWHERE IN ZAMBIA- NOT OUT OF A SPIRIT OF HEGEMONY BUT BROTHERLINESS. CAN WE SEE A TONGA PROVINCIAL MINISTER GO AND SERVE IN NORTHERN PROVINCE AND A BEMBA SERVE IN WESTERN ETC, ETC. THIS IS HOW KAUNDA KEPT OUR PEOPLE UNITED.

  37. @39 cigombingo: Can you please gives us examples of HH talking on tribal grounds and can you please show us evidence of the Indian lady HH is married to(I did not realise that the man is a polygamist)?

  38. Lord, could you please open the eyes of the Bembas because they are a real danger to our peace. Very pathetic human beings.

  39. Mutinta HH’s wife is Lenje, don’t expose your ignorance. In any case HH is free to marry whoever he wants to, it does not make him less Zambian.

  40. Bembas have never been tribal.

This tribalism you are talking about has only happened upon Sata ascending to power. It was not there before yet Bembas have always been there and in fact held high offfices.

The PACT between PF and UPND is the architect of current Bemba/Tonga tribal bigotry. So the problem is Sata and HH falling out and playing the tribal cards. It was not always like that and it will not always be like that once Sata and HH are out of the picture.

In the meantime, Chipimo is right, let Sata and HH sit down and shake hands after that. Their bitter divorce cause all this acrimony.

  41. #43 Ice_Road_Trucker

You’re absolutely right. The two political leaders are breeding hatred, and only the intelligent shall not fall folly to these men’s agenda. The falling of the pact was a big blow to progress, and it failed because of the leaders’ personal agendas. HEMCS and partners are now pointlessly been vengeful.

We need to boot out this generation of politicians.

  42. People let us not forget that in a democracy every political party is free to preach it’s ideology Whether tribal, atheist, communist, pro-gay or anti-gay or pro-Christian or environmentally friendly. The conference Milimo is talking about is not good for democracy, let the good parties survive on their own, it is survival of the fittest and best and others should die a natural death. Let them evolve on their own without guidelines.

  43. Tribalism has always been there in Zambia, that is why KK introduced the one party state. Tribal hatred had been suppressed all tese years becoz the leaders made an effort to be inclusive by accommodating all tribes in key govt institutions. The only time tribalism showed it’s ugly head was during FTJ’s second term giving the birth to UPND. Ever since Sata took over tribalism has reached it’s peak becoz of his tribal appointments. This is where the problem is and there is no need to drag HH in all this because HH has not appointed anyone on tribal lines and he has not used any tribal language on anyone. Sata and Mmembe are just using HH to cover their own selfish tribal guiltiness. Moreover, not every bemba is benefiting from Sata’s rule so what is the point of supporting his nonnsense

  44. Chipimo, chipimo We don’t need such political conferences, but what we do need is a serious National conference to brain storm on:1) Total overhaul of the Legal& JUDICIAL SYSTEM
    And
    5) Many more from mining, agriculture, etc..:)

    • 5) Many more from mining, agriculture, new hydro-power , windmill turbine  farms, solar energy etc….

    • Windmill Turbine farms in Zambia may not be workable. Studies have been done and shown that there is not enough wind power in Zambia. Very few places can host high yielding wind farms. We can use more modern and more efficient power generators though!!

    • @bricklayer good point, the more reason when need to brain storm on whats best and workable for zambia. A conference to come up with a MARSHALL PLAN a must for zambia

  45. He wants a meeting but he finds NOTHING WRONG with tribalism, what a wanker. So is the meting to just endorse tribalism then?

  46. 23 0f 28 ministers in sata’s cabinet are from NORTHERN province sata is the greatest TRIBAL president in the history of zambia with 82% tribalism in his cabinet if sata was a student at UNZA he would have a grade of A in tribalism,as for chipmo let him count t himself as a youth leader of PF who is trying to eat with both hands as for THE *****S at the post their days are numbered the blind cobra will not always be the to defend them through suspension of judges m’membe must pay back 14BILLION tax payers money as he has remained the only choir master in the sinking TITANIC.GOD bless our great nation ZAMBIA

  47. As far as I can see, Sata appoints those who supported him, who made him and his party to win the elections. Let us not forget that the PF government has not even clocked one year yet.

Critics however, claim that this is tribalism. Well may be, may not. The man is been loyal to those to made him what he is today.

This is the problem with multi party politics. In a young country like Zambia multi party politics can not work, at least not yet.

We need to go back to the masterplan, which is the one party state, it united Zambians and this is how One Zambia One Nation was born. We just need to modernize the one party state system. We can borrow some ideas from China, at least the system is working for them, look at their economy, number 2 going to number 1 in the world.

  48. Multi party politics creates divisions such as tribe, regional etc. In the West, multi party politics works because there is nothing to divide them. They don’t have tribes. In Africa, tribe is in our DNA. The only way to fight tribalism is through unity of purpose such as national building, that is what the One Party State tried to achieve.

Critics of this system will probably say KK abused the system, that maybe true but to me that does not invalidate the idea of a one party state system. China in my opinion has grown because of the one party state system.

UNIP had good ideas, it is not such a bad thing to revisit some of their ideas. I would also revisit Partial Nationalisation to encourage locals to benefit amongst many other good ideas.

  49. The guy who sow tribalism is long dead. however, that said we all know that our beloved president is the chief tribalistic leader of the chibemba kingdom. but one day is one day, period.

  50. If this tribalism does not change, I urge the people of Central, Lusaka, Copperbelt, N. Western, Western and Southern to break away and form their own republic not Kingdom as the Lozis see it.

  51. @ 55 Logical: Are you telling us that only northerners supported Sata? A good leader, especially one who claims to be a christian, creates hamony by embracing his opponents. Sata had a good opportunity to bring tribal harmony in the nation by nominating MPs from areas that did not support him. He culd have demonstrated leadership by appointing non politicians from areas that voted against him to key positions. He could have followed Jesus’ example of loving his opponents but instead he decided to punish them. We expect people like arch bishop Mpundu to advice Sata to lead the country in a christian way not just the rhetoric of ruling by the ten commandments & doing the opposite.

    • DON’T BLAME MULTIO PARTY POLITICS!!! IT IS ONE MAN PARTY POLITICS that lead to such divisions – all our current parties except MMD (Which was hijacked just as UPND has been) are ONE MAN PARTIES started by one person & that person expects to be preside, others can follow!!! WHAT WE HAVE FAILED TO LEARN IS THAT SUCCESSFUL PARTIES ARE THOSE FORMED FROM COMMON IDEALS – Sata has just been lucky becoz he hit the right cord, WHICH WAS SIDE WITH THE POOR MASSES & RID OF THE THIEVES IN POWER!!!

  53. This call is relevant to tribes that have earned themselves a Tribal Tag. These are Bembas, Tongas by virtual of Bembas lebling them tribal to disguise their dominance of Bembas in government. Those that people refer to them as tribal have to come good out of it. Many Zambians want to burry their heads in the sand over this issue. President Sata prictices and promotes it. Evidence is there to see and wonder if ever appointees have feelings about it. At least Dr Mumba censured Mr Sata to stop being tribal as Bemba because Zambians may be compelled to think and believe all Bembas are tribal. A timely rebuke Chipimo must emulate.

  54. Give respect to the Republican President. Mind you about 80% of his votes come from Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces which are inclusive of all tribes in the country. The villages are the ones practising tribalism in Zambia when it comes to voting because are mislead by tuma chiefs to vote their fellow tribesman. How votes came from North Western, Western & Southern provinces for Sata vis visa for HH In Luapula & Northern. Anyway even political leaders should blame themselves because they take advantage of the villagers and influence them not for a person who does not come from their region or tribe. Real voting is on the Copperbelt & Lusaka province period and whoever wins the votes in these two provinces is a real winner.

  55. @86. Chilufya. Please exclude Western province from your shallow analysis. Western province has never ever voted on tribal lines. It is the only province in the country that has parliamentarians from 4 different parties. Tribal voting only exists in northern, luapula, southern and eastern provinces.

    • Western Province is rife with tribal politics, isn’t the BA 64 based on tribal politics? If it is not why are other tribes within Western Province against that document?

Tribalism comes in different forms and the BA64 is one of many.

  56. Forgive my ignorance ladies and gentlemen, I knew not that I was contradicting me self. Am a stupid spoi.lt brat. Kindly understand me

  57. As you all must know by now Chimbwi No Plan aka Satana Sata is my uncle so the family is pressurising me to work with the evil snake.

  58. This LT is fueling issues on tribe. I am Bemba and I despise tribal sentiments. We all know that Bemba’s are not tribal. This is one fact we can not deny. Blame it all on politicians.

  59. chipimo u r a fool, dont u c dat zambia is at its worst peak coz of tribalistic remrks. This is caused by sata who is the worst tribalistic and who is quick at pointing others as tribalists

  60. Its written nowhere that the kind of tribal conflagrations that have afflicted other countries will never occur in zambia. It looks like some zambians take for granted the peace we have and are quick to throw tribal muck at each other as if zambia is guaranteed not to have tribal infernos. The kikuyu domination in kenya, the Hutu domination in Rwanda and the Igbo business savvy and spread in Nigeria were the sparks that lit terrible bloodshed in those nations.Let that be a lesson on he dangers f he emerging Bemba hegemony in zambia.

  61. :) Wisdom really did come from the east, our worst RB still left wonders and no problems in Zambia. Imagine how great if Zambia got a president from our best, the Thumbukas or Sengas of Chama. 2016 is time to elect intelligent Zambians from the east west, south central north western, no more crooks please.

  62. Chipimo THE TRIBALIST said: “There is basically nothing wrong with tribalism, as people always feel close to people they share the similar culture with.” I REST MY CASE.

  63. Chipimo lost his integrity in Rio. Hence his political career was burried in South America for his love of financial allowances drawn on Govt resources, and for his lack of vision. The govt deligation on tour to Brazil speaks volumes of excesses in the field of NEPOTISM by Ukwa-CNP. Chipimo must just shup up!

  64. Currently it appears like Expression Engine is the best blogging platform out there right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?
