Zambia Daily Mail enters agreement with Iran

Share

The Zambia Daily Mail and Tehran Times have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in which the two newspapers will share contents in their publications.

Tehran Times is a daily newspaper published in Iran.

The MoU was signed in Lusaka yesterday between Zambia Daily Mail managing director Isaac Chipampe and Tehran Times director general Reza Moghadasi.

The two companies have agreed to reprint each other’s editorial content at no cost provided that the reprinted material is credited.

The agreement, which is effective yesterday, will run for three years and is subject to renewal upon expiry.
The Zambia Daily Mail and Tehran Times have also agreed to support each other’s staff by assigning them to either country to gather information in technical and other aspects to improve their skills and widen their scientific knowledge.

Zambia Daily Mail managing director Isaac Chipampe said the MoU is great news as the two newspapers, operating in different regions, will benefit from news and features that they may not have come across.

“As Daily Mail, this is a milestone, and as you know there is so much news in Iran and the Middle East that we shall benefit from. We are also anxious that as time goes on, our journalists will have short stints at the TT and they, too, can come and have a feel of Zambian journalism,” Mr Chipampe said.

  1. what the …… is going on.Iran? of what relevance is the happenings of Tehran to us Zambians.Isn’t this the country under UN sanctions? PF should stop playing with fire.

  2. The Zambian govt is looking to introduce the Iran tactics of governing this country. No wonder the govt-controlled media would look to Iran. The idea is to brainwash the minds of ordinary Zambians so we could think like the Iranians. That is utter nonsense. Iran with its nuclear weapons program is facing sanctions and this govt tells its agency to do some MoU with Iran. What the hell? Minister of Information, rethink where you going or America and Britain will classify this govt as part of the axis of evil. Mugabe….Iran…..Sudan……where next?

  3. This is total madness. Instead of partnering with credible media houses like Aljeezira, CNN and many others we decide to go go to Teran. What circus is this?

  4. some Zambians can be fools. Why are we always supporting wrong groups. How can a person in his right mind sign such an agreement with an Iranian govt controlled newspaper.? Iran wants to use Zambia to publish its rubbish against America and the Western nations which will be a disaster to Zambia. Why can’t ZDM partner with LT and the ZWD?

  5. Al – Jazeera is a better newsworthy site than listining to news from Iran’s state news.

Next we will be hearing Zambia supports Iran on nuclear ambitions.

Sata’s vote has been bought out.
    Money matters in his pockets.

  6. this is an example of a country with no clear cut foreign policy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Every decision made by PF is a JOKE, i feel the man we put in state house should have been sent to chainama instead

  8. I do not begrudge the Barotse for wanting to go their own way. This is just pathetic! Al Bashir, Ahmedinejjad, Mugabe! Zambia is really steaming ahead under the wise leadership of Mr Sata!

  9. i think even supporters of PF are now mauless.what is it that zambians will benefit from iranians publications. You should have partened with Baroste Times instead.

  10. Birds of the same feathers flock together. From Sudan, Zimbabwe(Mugabe) and now Iran, all well know pariah states with dictators at the helm of power. Zambian s should take HH’s warning seriously; that we should brace for hard times. Those who think we should give PF time must be dreaming becoz by the time they wake up Zambia will be another North Korea. Always remember the warning that ‘if you put a frog in a pot with boiling water, then gradually heat the water it will stay put until the water boils’. We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be in that situation ever again. KK days taught us enough and it is now time to fight for our freedom.

    • What you are not understanding is that there is a starting point for everything. Imagine a situation where Africans are supported by well meaning friends who would want to see Africa develop but now what is happening is that your resources are being stock piled but not in Africa, by the time your resources will deplete, you will be more poor than you are today. for your own information , if your fore fathers had your attitude, they could not have gained the political freedom you are enjoying today because they had no infrastructure to wage war against the colonial powers but in the end they managed. If you look at the pioneers of world economics, they formulated theories that only support the west. capitalism supports only the already strong. I wish i was born when KK was in power

  11. All those condemning the move by TIMES are fools, for your own information, Iran has developed amidst sanctions, which means they have used their natural resources to the maximum. This could be the first step for Zambia to learn on how to manage its vast natural resource. Just because America says ill of Iran doesn’t mean they are bad, America has nuclear weapons and no one talks about it. Africa will remain poor because they look up to people(the west) who do not want Africa to to be free….

    • Only an i.diot like u would compare Iran to Zambia. Iran has the infrastructure and technology to standup against the West. What has Zambia got? History sould teach u that standing up against Western powers can be disastrous, think back to the Kaunda days.

  12. Solidarity of losers against winners!
You shall know them by the company they keep!
Birds of a feather flock together!
A tree shall be known by its fruits.

  13. Sata and is gang of F.O.O.LS are leading Zambia along a very dangerous path. When i told you that you had put a Monkey in State House you insulted me

  14. Joining the “axis-of-evil”!! The next interaction of the PF govt will be with Kim Jong-un of North Korea. They have not learnt enough of dictatorial lessons from Mugabe and al Bashir

    • @7777777 whatever you are; you are blogging becz u can. When the dictators take hold, you will be reporting each other in the house and no blogging even if you are in support of the govt of the day will be tolerated. Pls don’t support from without. Next HE MCS will be supporting the President of Syria saying that the west have brainwashed us. Let freedom reign; does your argument support the stance of the PF stopping the UPND rally? It all starts like that.

  15. Sata LiTallLay sana. How can you make friends with an enemy of good sure? These iranians will brain-wash our country and turn Zambia us to be anti-western. Becareful of what you ask for. I think we have a lunatic at state house. What did we do to deserve such a use.less president? HH, next president mwee. Its too much.

  16. iyo kwena Zed is now a super power, l hope and pray we have enough strength to defend ourselves when sh** hits the fan…..all the best motherzambia…!!

  17. This is great… We will be able to see just how the West is trying to trump on economies that are not as big as there’s….. This will open peoples minds on just how the West is manipulating the UN charter

  18. Chanda Chimba the Prophet vindicated AGAIN! Elo lwanya nomba.Just associating with rogue states.Next we will have the Taliban or Somali pirates opening offices at government complex.

  19. But our leaders don’t realise that we have nothing to be proud of. Zim has platinum, gold and diamonds and may be in that situation for now and the future but once the old bob is gone and they have a sane leader, they can turn aroung their economy quickly for the better. We have nothing and being influenced like teenage deliquents against the most powerful. Lack of leadership.

  20. Very soon we’l start hearing about govt. Working with Al Shabab or El Qaida. Its lyk we trully have dogs running the country.

  21. The PF government increasingly makes RB’s government appear saint- like. Making unforced errors everyday, they alienate the electorate.
The economy is not doing better, the working class is uncertain with PF policies. PF promised to reduce import taxes, they really haven’t. PF promised to put more money in people’s pockets, they seem not to have a road map in place and are surprised at events happening everyday.

  22. Zambia Daily mail is governed by a board chaired by Mizinga Melu a reknowned Banker. What has govt got to do with it?Is this not the independence of the public media that we all crying for?Sometimes i dont understand what people want,we dont seem to know what is even good for ourselves.Daily mail has made an independent decision to work with another media and all people want to be mentioning is Sata, whats wrong with you characters.A journalist is a journalist whether in Mongolia or Iran or UK.

    • If you really believe the Daily Mail Board of Directors is “independent” or that journalists in Mongolia, Iran, and the UK share the same freedoms, then you had probably better go to Chinama for a check-up (…..either that or simply open your eyes and lean some basic truths about how the world operates!).

Independent media, Iran……? How funny – I guess you don’t even realize how badly you disgrace yourself (and your political party) with these remarks.

Serious, my friend, with what you’ve written it is no wonder there are things you (and your equally narrow-minded cohort, 77777) “don’t understand.”

    • A wise man will not associate with fools. I guess there must be lots of Zambians who support presidents for the sake of association and not their leadership. A better Zambia is only possible if leaders can avoid past mistake, and mistakes made by other presidents.

Mugabe should have steered the country into a great republic after purging out all white farmers. But what do we see? A Zimbabwe with PPP capita income dropping from US$719 in 1996 (Zambia’s was US$357) to US$503 in 2002 (Zambia’s US$347) The economy has improved with Western aid to US$757 in 2011 (Zambia’s US$1,425).

Remember that Iran, Zimbabwe or Sudan will not support the Zambian budget to improve social services. Besides, you will not develop because the West has imposed sanctions on Zambia; leadership does matter

  23. Whoever is the CEO running the Zambia Daily Mail lacks the intellectualo capacity to comprend the dynamics of international politics. These falfwits are endangering the national security of this country by encroaching into sensitive areas that are posing international threats. Big states such as the USA, France and UK tread cautiously with Iranian institutions. MAY GOD SAVE ZAMBIA FROM EVIL

  24. Lets pray for our country, the PF govtt is really on the wrong path.Zambia is for Zambians not PF…why should some misdirected souls destroy the country.

  25. BREAKING: Canada has closed its embassy in Iran and expelled Iranian diplomats from Canada, Foreign Affairs department announces.

  26. Why is Iran a rogue state? Because the US says so? As much as it is a dictatorship it has delivered by investing in education, health and technology. Iran freed itself from a Western backed King or Shah in 1980 and has turned things around. “Democratic” states like mineral rich Zambia cant hope to achieve in 100 years what oil-rich Iran has achieved in 30 years. Iran’s oil wealth is working for Iranians. Zambia’s minerals will always be there for Western capitalists to come and exploit.

  27. Now Britain has closed it’s Iranian embassy and ordered all Iranian diplomats out within 48 hours .and we are becoming friends good

  28. please these are not people to deal with.iran is 100%moslems and zambia christian nation. we should leave them otherwise we will in problems internationally

  29. critical thinking the US Government has basically built a based in Zambia (Ibex Hills), George W. Bush in Zambia for weeks (doing what? since when did George give a shiit about the world let alone Zambia???). Condemning GRZ/Sata…flip the coin could be a US (CIA) plot to gather intelligence from Iran! Mind U Zambia has rich uranium deposits! THINK PEOPLE!!!

  30. Wrong move and I strongly condemn such an arrangement. Iran is a country labeled as “axis of evil” and is the process of building nuclear weapons and is also threatening international peace. Iran is a dogma behind the removal Israel off the world map.

We are acting like we are also in support of such moves and Lessening the sanctions against the Tehran.

  31. @45. Steel. What intelligence gathering is involved in sharing newspaper articles with the Tehran Times. Ukwanites too much ganja! You and your Sata should stop smoking!

  32. Haha, not only is this bad and embarrassing from “the friends you keep” perspective, but it will be embarrassing for zambian standards of journalism. The Iranians will get to see the poorly worded articles, shameful mispellings and lack of prose or narrative structure. Zambian journalism sucks bigtime.

    • Eh he!! he! he! he! Kwena our grammar! Being exported in its raw form! Just like that? It will be embarrassing. May be we should write in Arabic
