Opposition UPND Livingstone Member of Parliament Howard Sikwela sandwiched between PF 1 and 2-President Michael Sata and Vice President Guy Scott at the launch of the Link Zambia-8000 road project in Lusaka today

President Michael Sata has revealed that Livingstone UPND MP Reverand Howard Sekwila is willing to work with the PF government.

But Reverand Sekwila said his willingness to work with the PF government should not be misunderstood.

At the launch of the Link Zambia 8000 project this morning, President Sata who personally introduced Reverend Sekwila and asked him to greet the audience disclosed that the UPND MP had agreed to work with him.

“I invited him to be here with us and he agreed, he is willing to work with us,” President Sata said.

He said the PF will accommodate all MP’s from the opposition willing to work with it to develop the country.

President Sata has since appealed to all MP’s to submit a list of all priority roads in their respective constituencies which require attention.

But in interviews with Journalists shortly after the launch event, Reverend Sekwila who appeared uncomfortable discussing the issue maintained that he was not defecting to the PF.

He refused to comment further.

Speculation is rife that the PF is targeting some MP’s within the UPND for appointment into ministerial positions as a way of weakening the opposition party.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has since warned his MP’s that anyone seen to be fraternizing the PF will be expelled from the UPND.

  1. Is there any thing wrong with the government of the day? Working with the government does not mean defecting from one part to another.

  2. another bye election looming.however sikwela infiltrate them and deliver their secrets i hope you are appointed vp so that we have a man on the ground good soldier.Livingstone will not forgive you

  3. oil & water do not mix, just like thieves & saints cannot mix. Hard workers & lazy fellows cannot work together lest the lazy ones can ride on the successes of the hard workers.

  4. Sikwela will lose all very soon. he has no strong backbone politicallty and has been targeted because of his newness. He thinks being a minister for 6 months will take him rich. He is losing all sonnand back to square one to the church. But the church also knows that he is an adulterer now. so he will have nowhere to go. Let him enjoy his 6 months maximum as deputy minister. UPND is forming next government and he will regret.

    • What do you mean next government…it will never happen my dear just work with GRZ. HH is not going anywhere politically he is not a leader

    • Will you support this sellout when we boot him out? The answer is no. So why are you leading a man astray? Whether HH makes the next government (which he will at the rate things are going) or not should never contaminate his resolve to provide effective checks and balances. And to do this, HH needs strong women and men, not weaklings like Sikwela. Watch out this space.

  5. We really need to work together to develop our country. Some pipo are just bitter and they will be more bitter as they see us moving forward.Mr Sekwila,we need pipo like you!! You have showed us that you are not a selfish man.Lets work together as the owners of this country.

  6. The principle is that Rev sekwiba won because the pipo agree with the UPND manifesto and not PF. There are more demerits in working with opposition as they do not share the same vision and ideology with the ruling party; they are moles and they are torn in between loyalties. Sata expelled all his MPs that accepted to work with MMD so what has changed now? Just wondering………better to appoint within PF there are a lot of capable pipo.

  7. Twalya again sekwila wiling to work with pf nice by election more meat in l/stone by election. just join mwana and enjoy the fruit.more money for the lone mp.

  8. Its a shame for Hon. Sikwela, i never thought he would be a traitor of the worst kind. I still dont believe that Hon. Sikwela can a political prostitute, shame on him.

  9. So now UPND you know who went to state house about the seditious materials issue! Beware of some Reverands (Wolves) in Sheep’s skin.

  10. Sata used condemn the MMD for causing such by-elections which gobble billions of kwacha which could have saved many lives and built schools and hospitals but today he is the one entertaining that. that is actually a good campaign issue for the UPND for the coming elections. PF is helping the UPND. The opposition is in opposition to provide checks and balances required and not to rule. When the party forms government then it is time to rule and not to play opposition politics. Let Sikwela join the ruling party since he wants to rule.

  11. The problem we face is not understanding that each elected MP has a responsibility to deliver on his promises to the electorate and it is imperative on government irrespective of the ruling party to provide the resources to enable the MP deliver. What we see mostly the party in government always wants elected opposition legislators to grovel to it for resources to be availed and working working with the government to mean one going against their party’s rules in preference of the ruling party’s. No wonder we see too many defections.

  12. this is rubbish.he wants MPs to submit roads requirements to his office,so that he works on them. How about the budget bwana.i thought MPs get information of what is required from people in their ares and this is presented in the budget.Anyway where can they get the money ,say $5 billion in 5 years ,when even getting a kalobe of $750 million called for cereblations.

  13. we shall chase this reverend very soon. he is a traitor. HH where are you? we need a press conference to announce the expulsion of this I.D.I.O.T. another bye elections in Livingstone is Looming. am very surprised at this magot. that is why he is an adulterer.

  14. That is why there are no udates from Watch mbwa (zwd) today. This are not well….(ifintu tafilibwino) coz sata has scored more goals the last few days

  15. that someone says they ll work with the govt doesnt mean they re defecting, its like you pipo dont understand english busy throwing insults left right centre for what, and if he chooses not to work with the govt then how ll lstone develop??????????????

  16. It is sad, it is too early for Sikwela to be a Judas Escariot. As someone said the opposition is for checks and balances while of course working with the government to develop their constituencies. Reverend you are a disappointment to those who campagned for you, you have just entered the scene and already you are selling out your party, God will never forgive you and you will join the likes of Masumba back on the streets and the church will flush you out for being a political prostitute. Remember what Sata did to his MPs so what has changed now that he is President, he does not want to work with you he just wants to destroy the opposition, open your eyes and have spiritual sight if you truly pray to the God of wisdom?

  17. @ # 16 jinx I agree with you, thats why there are no updates from Imbwa sha ku ZWD. nababoma 10-0 in the last few days. am patiently waiting for hh to criticise the launch of Zambia link 8000 road network

  18. Wait a minute ! Is this not the same reverend who has been banging another man`s wife ? Eish ! This news doesnt excite me.

  19. All of u …pliz get a life… cant u see this political non sense has nothing to offer you…. u waste a lota time debating political issues…..but to what end…? Listen, await a greater life thats soon to be restored by God’s Kingdom…its about to crash all these governments…and be firmly established for a time indefinite, no political terms, for God has appointed his Son, Jesus, to rule over us forever, divine rule…the current leaders are there for the outworking of God’s purposes.. thats all !!!

  20. one thing everyone is forgetting is that pf lstone petitioned chances of winning are few,so whether you the so called upnd pipo chase him or not things dont look well which ever angle you look at things from,he might as well align himself with the rulling party so that they ll remember him one way or another

  21. this lozi chap he does not learn kanshi whats wrong with these lozi’s no sooner had you been gongaered than you went back to PF.Mr. President appoint him and the fire him so that he is embarced adulterer.ni mwebo muletuchinga in sansa mu PF ba muselela kwa kaba

  22. Messiah abwelenso pachalo akwapule nafuti. Sekwila is not just a womanizer, but a political prostitute as well. Shame on you former christian.

  23. he is the one who falsely alerted police about the seditious material and took it to statehouse. lets hope you ka fake reverend have enough money to try and defend your seat in the courts of law. you have no Place in UPND, you will end up disgraced like masumba

  24. @ 20, Chiwanangala – ZWD and HH are still looing for ways of twisting sata’s success in the last few days hence the silence

  25. All MPs to submit to (lord) Mr Sata development needs in their constituencies. That being a method of developing a country will take us no where. Developmental needs are planned nationally by a team of technocrats who will have scanned the entire country segmentated by province, districts and other identified needy centres. Financial resources is then allocated accordingly based on type of development identified. In all these stages the area MP submits his/her input in accordance with people’s suggestions discussed and agreed. A president comes no where near here as is constantly kept update by his economic advisors. How do MPs submit developmental needs to a president who may not have the competency of technical know how as his is a macro view of development than the micro view. AWEMWE!.

    • Tell me sir your system does not work. Its time to work no more junk paper work workshops seminars and allowances I can just take a photo on the condition of the road in Nchanga north and email no need to hold a meeting to discuss the road conditions. You Engineers you have failed us its high time we change things

    • you are talking rubbish, just say you dont like Sata i will hear not wat you have just said…look at the roads the so called technocrats have done so patietic…leka Sata ateke boyi

  26. Good evening

This is positive news. It is a good thing we have a president who knows that if we are to move forward as a nation, we all need to put their shoulders to the wheel regardless which party we belong to.

    • He is a mad leader. He condemned the same actions he is doing tday when he was in opposition. That is what is known as hypocrisy…. madness!

  27. What successes has Sata scored in the last few days? Please portray our president so cheaply. He is supposed to associated with big issues befitting a head of state not these little things of coaxing non – entitites like Sikwela.

May someone kindly advise our beloved president to concentrate on governing the country as opposed to cheap politicking. Leave that to small guys like Kambwili, Sakeni and GBM.

  28. But when Sata appoints people from Northern Province people say it is wrong. When he courts MPs for UPND so that he can appoint he is accused of distabilising the opposition – eh difficult to know what the Zambians want. Ba Sata ignore these negativists and just do your best for Zambia. Dont forget the rural areas!!!

  29. I don’t understand this at all. Is the President telling us that he is not working with the opposition MPs? Then how is our country being run in areas where we have opposition MPs? I thought the President works with all citizens of the nation in whatever capacity they are whether they belong to his political party or not. Government work is not Party work.

    • You are probably ignorant of the UPND stance. HH has stated that UPND MPs cannot work with PF no matter what – Hence the need to parade the guy who is refuting HH’s retrogressive stance

  30. Waiting for under 5 to issue a mouth full of rubbish about this project launch and his MP sharing shoulders with PF…VIVA PF

  31. UPND should just fire the Randy Reverend once he accepts the ministerial offer from PF. It is a well known fact that the L/stone seat can ont go to the PF or MMD come a bye – election, UPND will still take it no matter how much maize will be distributed by Zumbunu.

  32. Rev Sikwela wants Livingstone 2 benefit from the Roads Project n there is nothing wrong with him agreeing 2 work with the Govt of the day 4 the benefit of the city of Livingstone!!The President has invited even opposition MPs 2 4wad their submissions 4 priority roads n that shd b commended!!!Development is 4 all Zambians n every Province shd benefit from this project

  33. Can you imagine someone coming to your house and takes your children to work for him without your knowledge as the father or mother. We are not against cooperation – all we are saying is that it should be done through the party. That is what the coalition government in UK is all about.

  34. You don’t have to caucus with the PF in order to develop your constituency. After all the government has a responsibility to fund all developmental projects, regardless of part affiliation. So, what is happening is that the honorable reverend is looking out for himself and not the people he represents. How unscrupulous for someone who professes to be a reverend.

  35. #11,you say ..the vision and ideology are different,i dont think you really understand a vision for a country like zambia.all political party vision are the same namely ,,poverty eradication, good hospitals, good roads etc.the difference is how to attain/bring into friution these projects which are party manefestos…the village concept, the govt off business, the govt participation in business.the elite concept.any opposition mp can work with a govt of the day and even use his skills to attain the country s vision.THE USA REPUBLICAN PARTY BELIEVES IN TAXING THE RICH LESS BECAUSE THEY CREATE EMPLOYMENT WHEREAS THE DEMOCRATES BELIEVE IN FAIR SHARE IN TAX CODE FOR ALL REGARDLESS OF RICH OR MIDDLE CLASS CATEGORY and they both agree on weafare programs but RP /$12000 and under ,democ $20000 -les

  36. Just work together. Don’t ask a dog if its male or female because you ccan see it. You are all Zambians. WHO then will you ever trust, foreigners or yout fellow Zambians? Remember that foreigners have their own agender, to get out as much as possible from you and your country folks. They will give with one hand and take away with another. This the reason you need to ttrust your own people. How else must opposition be productive? Is it to oppose anything? No.  You are all of the same feathers, they flock together they say. Why be hell bent not to see any sense in anything sensible others do? Just calm down and see where Sense is.

  37. Why is Hakainde so bitter? He doesn’t want co-operation but wants fighting all the time. What’s wrong with working with the govt?

  38. I think the President as a Zambian loves Zambia. He wants it to develop regardless. I know this Rev Sikwela. He was my pastor in Kabwe in the Brethren In Christ Church (BICC). Southern Province will remain behind in development as long as they vote UPND only. Coming to major roads, the Preswident will do well by tarring, Magwenauka-Macha Hospital Road in Southern Province. This road is off Namwala Road wich RB/Mwanawasa built. It serves a large population of people who attended Macha Hospital, from Chikanta to Mabombo.

    • hahahahaaa And Northern Province is very ahead since it has always been with the ruling party……lol? I am from Kasama, its a sorry site. Our leaders have just failed us.. all of them.!!!!

  39. It’s callled “potching.” The idea is to destroy the opposition from the inside -out. Any wonder the PF are making such a big deal out of it – “he is willing to work with us.” The honourable MP has been singled-out as being “willing” to work with the government of the day. He better decide whether he is in opposition or not. Otherwise, he is commiting political prostitution with the ruling party.

  40. pf government is government for all zambia and the duty of government is to serve the zambians . if opposition mps have development projects in their areas such as roads, water sanitation let them engage government afterall it is there duty to do that. that is why we pay taxes.being in government doesnt mean you have to hate every one who does not agree with you and vise versa being in the opposition doesnt mean you have to oppose everything. if its for the good of the electrolates then working together is okey. but if it is to fatten their bellies then we wont spare them. and then what next

  41. HH, pliz act soon dont let this so called Rev. Sikwela the traitor go on like that he will leak the plans of our party. He chase him coz we shall win in Lstone. it our swity province.

  42. Working with government of the day for the betterment of your constituency does not mean you are abandoning your party. It just shows maturity and servitude to the electorate!
TOO MANY IGNORANT AND ILLITERATE T*SSERS ON HERE! COMMENT OBJECTIVELY AND CONSTRUCTIVELY, IT’S ALL GETTING A BIT TOO BORING NOW!!!

  43. When shall we learn from USA or other developed countries? Being in the opposition does NOT mean you oppose every programme that the current government embarks on. Any normal and well meaning Zambia will support the 8000km Link project regardless of the party affiliation. These roads are meant for the benefit of ALL. So support this government programme!

  44. Munzi wapya guys…. is he going to be expelled from UPND? We wait and see as Willy Banda the thug, Mumbi the broke man and Lufwenkelo the big mouthed write an advice to HH and UPND cadres. Meanwhile more pop corns please.

  45. WELL DONE MR PRESIDENT-PLEASE IGNORE THESE UNDER FIVE CRITICS.

PLEASE MR PRESIDENT, WE THE PEOPLE OF MBALA ARE ON OUR KNEES BEGGING YOU TO TARE THE MBALA-NAKONDE ROAD. IF YOU CAN DO THIS ONE MR PRESIDENT MAMBWE LAND SHALL FALL INTO YOUR STRONGHOLD BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROMISES IN THE PAST BY NUMEROUS POLITICIANS OVER THIS PROJECT BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.

  46. way to go,show them that you are different.being in opposition does not mean not working together, how else will the country develop.UPND may forever remain in southern province because of failure to reason.though you looked good between number 1 and 2,

  47. whichevar way you look at it,the election has been petitioned and chances that it will be decided in pf favour are high with kabimba in the wheel.the best upnd should do to keep the seat is work with the government.other wise livingstone its pf,upnd dont mess up ala…

  48. Working together does not mean being appointed to ministerial positions. It simply means cooperating on national issues in order to deliver development to the people. Unfortunately PF’s idea of working together is skewed to supporting them in parliament hence their quick actions to appoint opposition MPs to their cabinet. I’m sure Sikwela has the blessing of the UPND leadership as long as he does not accept a Ministerial Post.

  49. We seriously need to change alot in this so called constitution of ours, lets not leave decisions to politicians alone, I agree we need technocrats in this country, theres too much hooliganism, nepotism and tribalism in the way we handle our country, how in the hell is a PF/MMD/UPND cadre appointed to diplomatic missions abroad be able to woo investors to develop Zed? Theres something seriously wrong with this country….one step forward two steps back

  50. I personaly do not see anything wrong with opposition members serving in the current govt. All I care about is development in the consitituency. Rev Sikwela shoud challenge UPND establishment to join him for the full development of Livingstone. Democracy calls for tolerance.

  51. @35 complexity, the era of using technocrats is long gone. These so called technocrats ll just steal funds build themselves massions in chalala. Dont let the term technocrat excite you, these are the pipo in GRZ that ve long hands/fingers. Take a look at HAHA, he was entrusted to privatise our companies as a technocrat..whats the result, he is now worth 360 billion. Thats technocrats for you.

  52. Do politianans in africa ever resign on moral grounds??? “REVEREAND” howard sikwela, was dishonourably proven guilty of ADULTERY by the LIVINGSTONE HIGH COURT…..and he seemingly has no sense of shame to resign….its amazing…..to whom does he think he is still HONOURABLE to??….I hope the republican president will distance himself from such an embarrasing personality/character as would have been the case if such a scandal had been exposed in the UK or USA….
