UPND Livingstone MP Reverend Howard Sekwila has apologized to the general UPND membership for attending the launch of the Link Zambia 8,000 project without clearance from the party leadership.
Addressing a media briefing at the party Secretariat this morning, Reverend Sekwila said he is apologizing wholeheartedly and hoped that the members of the UPND would find it within their hearts to forgive him.
“I hereby seek your forgiveness, am like a Prodigal son, please forgive me,” Reverend Sekwila said.
He added that he will never again attend a state function without clearance from the party.
Reverend Sekwila also revealed that he would not accept a job from the PF government if offered.
“I was never offered a ministerial job and I would never accept a job in this government even it was offered,” he said.
He said he is still a committed member of the UPND and willing to abide by the party’s rules and regulations.
Reverend Sekwila also denied reports that he was forced to apologize because he was facing expulsion from the party.
And UNPD Mazabuka Central MP Garry Nkombo said that Mr Sikwela did not cross the flow of parliament by attending the launch of the road project.
Asked if Mr Sikwela was threatened with dismissal by the UPND regarding the matter, Mr Nkombo said that the party would not expel any member without letting the due processes to take its course.
“The UPND did not issue any threats to Mr Sikwela but wrote him a cordial letter so that he could explain the circumstances of being at the launch,” he said.

How is this MP feel when next morning a school is being built in his Constituency without his knowledge? This reverend Sekwila fellow is not a committed member of the UNPD. Speaking from my practical experience, this character is definitely an informer sent by his paymasters to continue spying on UNPD activities and in the process he will recruit more operatives. This is the typical modus operand of agents. The pertinent question is who are his paymasters? As a person with lengthy intelligence gathering experience, then every intelligence structure of an organisation in question (the UNPD) has to really question the motives of this person as to why he had to attend an occasion of such magnitude without weighing costs and benefits of his behaviour. Zambian politics have become so petty, no wonder areas under opposition will lagging in development because of selfish individuals. They should refuse their salaries from the government if they want to convince people that they cannot accept anything from the government. Some projects should not be politicised, they will benefit all Zambians regardless of their political affiliations. MPs should be free to fight for projects and development in their constituents from the government. The govt is not PF, the UPND stance will not benefit anyone because the government is for everyone.
I bet you left Zambia a long time ago. No area is lagging behind in development. Areas on the copperbelt and the northern provinces that have always been for the ruling party are a sorry site. There is nothing to loose for areas in the opposition coz only individual MPs and ministers are developing themselves.
There is everything wrong about that damn MP attending a PF government function when PF is averse to anything UPND. If the PF government truly wanted to work with the opposition, like some of you PF zealots on this platform are trying to make us believe, it would have been tolerant to criticism and rendering a listening ear to the advice from the opposition. Instead what we hear and read, particularly in the PF Post newspaper, are disparaging rebuttals and remarks on anything the opposition says about the PF government. The security industry in South Africa is generating hundreds of millions of rands or more from copper firms for the safe exist of the red metal, in fact that is a representative sample. Copper is generating income for South Africans and in the process,it reduces the unemployment rate in our country. Notice that at this scale, copper is not consumed but indirectly it offsets the deficit created by other factors which contribute to unemployment on the whole. Annually, copper impacts positively on the GDP of S.Africa including secondary products made from copper albeit, our country is not a major producer compared to Zambia which dwarfs S. We cannot hold him responsible privatisation of mines in Zambia and the people you can blame for that which you identified as a dilema, are the IMF and the World Bank. In fact these the people prescribed pre-requisit conditions which Zambia was made to meet them in order to it to qualify for debt relief.
