Under fire MMD National Secretary Major Kachingwe has revealed that no one will force him to leave the former ruling party.
“I’m a military officer and officers don’t resign, those that want me out of the MMD may need to bring a crane and a bull dozer to get me out of here,” Major Kachingwe told a media briefing Wednesday morning.
He said he has been loyal to the party together with his Deputy Chembe Nyangu even during the hardest times in the life of the party.
Major Kachingwe said reports that he has been frequenting State House to solicit for a job are malicious.
“What kind of a job can I look for at my age? Moreover if I needed a job from President Sata, I would simply call him and say Bashikulu, I need your help but that is not me. I believe in the ideals of this party and will not sell out,” he said.
He however admitted having visited State House on two occasions to discuss with President Michael Sata the appointment of MMD MP’s to serve in the PF government.
“Yes I have been to State House twice, not to look for a job but first to seek an appointment and when that appointment was granted, I went in the company of Honourable Catherine Namugala and we got assurance from President Sata that the affected MP’s were told to keep their allegiance to the MMD.”
Major Kachingwe who produced correspondence between his office and State House said he avoided speaking about out about accusations that he went to State House to look for a job because he wanted to get clearance from President Sata before discussing such issues in the press.
“We left State House satisfied and I believe that initiative to engage President Sata prevented the wastage of national resources which might have gone into bye elections,” he said.
“I know President Sata very well, when he was MP in Kabwata, I served as his Constituency Chairman and I will not go out and start insulting him, I respect him as my Commander in Chief. If some MMD MP’s are looking for a party CEO who will insult the President every day in the press, I’m afraid that person is not Major Kachingwe,” he said.
Some officials in the MMD youth wing have been attacking Major Kachingwe in the media accusing him of undermining efforts by party President Nevers Mumba to strengthen the former ruling party.
The youth also accuse Major Kachingwe of soliciting for a job in the PF government.

He may now be a sell-out as Sata’s agent in MMD. Any discussion, any strategy MMD makes, he will run to Plot 1 to report.

Fast, I respect your opinion. But I might also add the proverbial saying that “two wrongs don’t make a right”. If our primary objective to criticise is simply to “hit back” in order to settle old political scores, then we are missing the bigger picture. Criticism should principally be about ensuring that the governance issues are subjected to the necessary checks and balances and not about showing the incubent party and its government how it feels to handle hot potatoes! This political hullabaloo is diverting precious time of the government to sit and tackle issues of national importance.
Quite the contrary my friend. I have always held the view that politics should be issue based and not insults meant to injure each other’s feelings. PF or not it is the poorest of the poor who continue to wallow in poverty simply because our leaders are totally consumed with exchanging unprintables instead of focusing on alleviating the sufferings. Objectivity is the key in whatever we do.

If I were Mumba l would be very suspicious at the courage of this man, by the way l know very well how military Officers work especially after even admitting to knowing Sata very well, it’s “inde bwana” I thnk Mumba should just go ahead and fire him. The adamant stance of being antagonistic punch to punch with the president by Nevers Mumba and the creation of ungovernable environment for the PF GRZ will tear MMD apart, unless Nevers Mumba sits down and allows reason and sanity to prevail. My feelings tells me that those people on Major Kachingwe’s neck are small time politicians only to serve their interests. Oh how I envy American politics, because for them it is always people first and they also believe in interaction regardless of which party one comes from. I can see MMD ending like ‘mother UNIP’ and they should not put blame on the major.

Kachingwe has spoken the truth. The person behind this confusion is Nevers Mumba. If Kachingwe had not gone to negotiate the issue of MPs, the bye-elections would have happened already. MMD will be fighting Kachingwe at its own peril. Nevers has come to kill MMD.

The opposition MMD should work towards bringing unity in their party.When KK found that power was sweet he destroyed opposition parties in 1972.For him to do that Kaunda convinced the Mr Mainza Chona and Mungoni Liso to speak to the late Mr Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula to merge UNIP and ANC to bring in one party state.The people of Southern province did help Kaunda to bring in one party state after a serious threat from UPP lead by the late Mr Simon Kapwepwe.The Bembas at that did not want Kaunda.After ANC agreed to form one party state and the banning of UPP by Kaunda, Kaunda became very powerful dictator in Southern Africa.So i wonder really why even today why pipo still want to attack HH just because he is a Tonga.They forget that without UPND Zambia can easly go into one party state.
