The Non Governmental Organising Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has called on Justice Minister, Wynter Kabimba, to apologize to the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) following what transpired yesterday when he refused to be interrogated in private.

NGOCC Chairperson, Beatrice Grillo, described as unfortunate for Mr Kabimba to have declined being probed over alleged corrupt acts levelled against him.

In an interview with ZANIS yesterday, Ms Grillo wondered why the Justice Minister behaved in the manner he did, adding that Mr Kabimba should understand that carrying out investigations on him does not tantamount to condemnation but is only a mere check on the deeds of an individual.

She stressed that if the Justice Minister is not linked to any unacceptable act, then he should not worry as the law enforcement agency will protect him.

Ms Grillo added that what Mr Kabimba displayed towards the ACC was not pleasing, saying leaders are supposed to lead by example.

Ms Grillo further implored politicians to give space to the law enforcement agencies to carry out their work in a professional and more effective manner if their work has to yield tangible results.

She said if leaders resort to acting as the case was for Mr Kabimba, it will only set a wrong precedent over leaders as the same thing may occur tomorrow even with other leaders.

The NGOCC chairperson has since advised Mr Kabimba to once more avail himself to the Anti- Corruption Commission for investigations to be launched.

Yesterday, the ACC failed to interrogate Justice Minister, Wynter Kabimba, as he insisted to be probed in the midst of his sympathisers.

  1. Kambimba, I remember you condemning H.H for taking cadres for an interview with the police so what is the difference with what you have done? It’s so painful for some of us who voted for the PF you are bring shame to us. Being a supporter of this party am deeply disappointed what will stop people from speculating. i

  2. If Sata is serious with running country and corruption , this Kabimba chap should be fired or the least be put on forced leave to pave way for investigations.
What exmple is he setting as Justice Minister to behave like that ??? Sata should act fast period !

  3. No need to apologize. If sata has teeth he should drop this guy until investigations are concluded. Right now being quiet looks like sata is toothless when it comes to kabimba.

  4. The whole process is a shum. Winter needs not only appologise, but step aside to allow the Law enforcement agency carry out its work. If Winter can behave like this in the eye of the public, what about the pressure he can put on the institution and individuals in private? Is anybody thinking somebody is not putting undue pressure on the law enforcement agencies?

  5. We will wait and see what commitment the president has to a Government free of corruption. My take is that Winter is at the centre of things, he may be holding the Gov’t to ransom, otherwise he could have been fired by now. There is something fishy going on, I am sure there are other issues tied to this Trafigara issue that has not come to light yet…more big fish could be involved.

  6. Could Winter have gone into this huge Trafigara arrangement alone?…People of Zambia, open your eyes and think for a second. Could Winter go into something as big as this alone, or without the knowledge of bigger fish?

  7. YOU ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WOULD HAVE CONDEMNED THE ACC HAD THEY INTERVIEWED HIM AND MAYBE FOUND THAT HE HAD ANY CASE TO ANSWER.EVEN B 4 U SHOWED SCON ON ACC. LAZ NEVER MENTIONED THE MEDIA AS 1 OF THOSE HE WANTED B PRESENT. NGOCC’S DONE THE SAME

  8. What is Winter trying to achieve by letting cadres in with him. He is behaving like a small god. Go and clear your name you gave ACC seven days a threat since you are legal minister. This power should not get to your head Winter you are now a leader behave like one no politics please.

  9. LAZ AND NGOCC YOU ARE JUST BEING HYPOCRITICAL .THERE IS NO NEED OF WYNTER TO APPOLOGIZE NOT EVEN BEING DROPPED AS SOME ARE DEMANDING. ACC GO AHEAD AND DO IT EVEN IFIT IS IN THE OPEN.

  10. #10 and #9. Please take note that if one is summoned by law enforcement they go with a lawyer to be present so that there is transparency ! Since when not even in the Western world has one asked to be questioned in front of the media !

  11. My thoughts here are that the Law enforcement agencies have already been intimidated. This whole process is likely going to be used to woodwink the people. It is difficult to think or believe justice can be done against the Justice minister still holding his position…..well, not in Africa.

  12. This is nonsense. Kabimba must just be made to resign and not to apologise. There must be something wrong with this Grillo lady. She appears to be so dull and fatigued that she cannot see the serious implication Kabimba’s action will have on the Zambian justice system by his conduct at ACC. People with low intelligence such as this Grillo must leave critical issues to real brained people. I know that every bird must have its song heard, but Zambia is far more important than such a bird song from Grillo.

  13. Apologies for what? Let the interrogation be public. There no sacred cows like great bag of maize who we is corrupt. They want clear gbm and touch my anointed winter awe!

  14. Winter is trying to create an illussion that he wants transparency to take place. If the justice minister thinks cadres provide the atmosphere for transparency, then we are in deep trouble. I am wondering why even the Post has decided not to make an issue out of this because this is a very big set-back in Zambia’s Democracy. The Post, what is happe

    • Paolo, two days ago you wrote on this site:

“Let him answer tothe allegations!! In PF we dont tolerate corruption and once found,he will face the president.”

Well, Kabimba has obviously NOT answered to the allegations but has instead chosen to play funny buggers with process. Your ignorance about Kabimba needing to answer to the law (not the President) is only made less pathetic now compared with your own hypocrisy.

Serious – are you really PF? It seems to me you are doing more harm to the party than good!

  15. Power, it can corrupt a mind. Remove power that one may have, anyone is as simple as any citizen. We humans have short memories, we know a lot but not all we know is actively remembeeed all the time at any moment.

  16. Ok this winter guy is a sacred cow and nothing fruitational will come out of his probe. Am waiting for ACC to probe GBM, hope he does the same……….kuloleshafye

  17. Gbm is not ministerial material. Don’t blind us with ur cnp opium. We know gbm is being protected despite evidence of corruption. Check the barracks tenders & zesco scandals with mwamba family footprint.

  18. One sacred cow leads to many more scared cows which leads entrenchment of impunity which leads to greater crimes which is a sure path to ICC.The longer Kabimba stays the more we’re heading towards the way of Rwanda and kenya.

  19. Even as a hard-core PF supporter, I find this behavior by Mr. Kabimba very damaging both to himself and to the party and government, and indeed the president. Much as I would love to see the man being innocent, this behavior suggests guilt to me, a desire to delay or confuse the process of questioning. I am afraid I have to agree with those who are saying that the man should step down until further notice. Supporting a party or someone should not mean defending their nonsense. At this stage sir, you have made more suspicious.

  20. A cadre has every reason to love and support their leader, and its a fact that PF cadres, being linked to the ruling party, are superior to UPND cadres. Just let the cadres enter the building, THEY ARE JUST AS HUMAN AS WE ALL ARE. Lastly, for Kabimba to be as senior a Minister as he is, is clear testimony of his distinguished leadreship skills. Most of you clowns here do not hae the intellect Winter has. PF has brought an environment of more money. i am addressing this post to the following dunderheads and stooges #1,2,3,4,14,18 and also to Jo jo, Tumbuka Pride and this boy called equalizer

  21. A disciple’s conduct is difined by the master’s conduct. What Kabimba did is what his master Ukwa would do put in the same situation. I will wait intil Zambians sober up & realise that the PF government does not mean well for the best interest of the Zambian people. I love my Zambia & its heart breaking to see the damage in the name of patriotism our greedy leaders are doing to our once viabrant & great country.

  22. ACC are bound to fail in their so called investigation. We all know that such institutions are founded on sandy soil and no building can stand in such conditions. The sandy soil i am referring to is the powers of the president, the president has ACC by its throat. It can be choked any time by this i mean people been fired once they go against the wishes of the President. Am sorry to burst people’s bubbles but this is a dead issue such that Kabimba treats it like that and sata totally ignores it.

  23. i urge you all PF Supporters, Sympathizers and Leadership to continue burying your Heads in the sand pretending everything is okay and sweeping the dirt under the carpet but this i can assure you that one day that sand will be too hot you will have to come out and that the carpet will by accident or by virtue of been fall be unable to completely hide the dirt underneath.
people will be arrested and people will have heart problems in fear of entering the gates their actions have led them to. .support cautiously or its your hands that will be stained with crime.

  24. I really sympathize with man’s wisdom in that he does not realise how puny his mind is. You can fool all the people sometimes and also be able to fool some people all the time BUT one can not fool all the people all the time. Time has got a way of judging us and on this Wynter Kabimba issue, only time will tell.

  25. I have never witnessed block-heads like some bloggers here, Blessings in particular. By vertue of being a leader, Winter must exhibit maturity and responsibility. Being in position of power does not make you the most intelligent or the most successful individual, it is just a previlledge. Now, if a Justice minister acts with such impunity, whose justice is guaranteed? Even you so called ‘Blessings’ you are the most affected because all you know is shout slowgans. If it was in a developed country, Winter and GBM would have stepped down on their own accord. Fuseke..atase!

  26. Namashina yene, Trafigara, kwati ma drugs.. Very arbitrary names these guys come up with. But what is the hold up here bane, kabimba should be stood down!!!

  27. APOLOGIZE OR RESIGN? KABIMBA MUST STEP DOWN. HIS ACTION WAS VERY UN PROFESSIONAL AND CHILDISH. HE’S AN EMBARRASSMENT TO PF.

  28. the rise of a foot soldier.. that’s what happens when you give a thug or a party cadre too much power…so what is going on with Micheal??? i thought he was called COBRA for his bravely and ruthlessness when dealing with chaps like this one a new public nuisance..i think no one PRESIDENT in Zambia will ever match the high standards Levy tried to bring about in government..We really miss that true Zambian..God bless him

  29. Barbed Wire #34. A chief, king, president etc are chosen not because of “priviledge” (which you cant even spell), but because society considers them as their preferred choice. Obama is where he is because the Americans voted. Hon. Wynter Kabimba, SC.MP.LLB.ASCZ etc etc is where he is not because of priviledge, but becuase we voted for a party he selflessly cordinated and organised, non other than the PF “pa bwato.” You are now busy blogging and complaining that he is loved by cadres, is that normal surely??? next you will not allow him to go there being driven in his GX 200, but would rather he drops at Kulima Tower and walks there. Total Foolishness Barbed Wire. No wonder Mushota thinks most of you are total jokers. You have no respect for leaders.

  30. @5 be,
Hahahaha, you have a terrific sense of humour, ‘Short men are very stubborn?’ I am a very short man but I do apologise when necessary but this Kabimba is too drunk with power.

  31. Am just waiting to hear what the president will say about the foolish acts of his best friend winter. Am actually shocked that fred and his
post are treating this corruption issue casually. Am imagining that if HH or indeed any other opposition leader did this. The post has let me down on this one

  32. @ Blessings….You have it all twisted. A king or chief or even a politician is priviledged to be in that position. Kings and chiefs come from the blood-line of the same. I am sure you can’t be considered in your village to become a chief if you are not a decendant of one. Winter was never elected to political office for your information, even if he was, he would still be priviledged to belong to a popular party like the PF. It is nut-haggers like you that create a sence of invinsibility in these power drunk politicians. What is wrong is wrong, irrespective of who is committing the crime. I believe you are an English teacher, I am an engeneer and spellings are the least of my worries.
