UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says the Patriotic Front government has lost the debate in the Provincial conventions on the draft Constitution.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says the Patriotic Front government has lost the debate in the Provincial conventions on the draft Constitution.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm news, Mr. Hichilema is delighted that delegates at provincial conventions across the country unanimously supported the inclusion of contentious clauses which include the 50 percent plus one threshold among others in the Republican Constitution.

Mr. Hichilema says the aspirations of the Zambians must reign supreme in the ongoing constitution making process.

He has also urged Zambians to protect progressive clauses that will enhance the tenets of democracy in all deliberations.

The UPND leader says Zambians have exposed the PF’s double standards adding that prior to the general elections of 2011, they campaigned on the premise adopting the contentious clauses in the constitution but u-turned after forming.

He says people will allow the PF government to manipulate their submissions to the draft constitution.

    • GOOD NEWS BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS, ARE YOU HH AND YOUR SMALL UPND GOING TO ATTAIN 51% OF VOTES????? THESE VOTES WILL COME FROM WHERE? SOUTH AFRICA AND SOUTHERN PROVINCE??? REMEMBER U HAVE TO SHARE THE SPOILS WITH MUMBA

    • Stop talking about hypotheticals. You cant prove anything! Mwanawasa, RB and Sata never got 50% +1. So stop obssessing about HH. The 50% + 1 is meant for everyone.

    • Gonclaves, grow the phuck up. If the big parties cant make 50 + 1, how will the UPND make it? So, it is not about HH advocating it because he knows it is a good idea- It is about spoiling it for others because he knows he himself will neeeeeeeevah… get it. What has he actually said in this article which makes so much sense? Since this government took over we have been over-aggressive on issues of contention, real or imagined. We are not saying the PF government should not be held to account. We are saying that we think we are going around it the wrong way. We are also saying criminals of past regimes should also be held to account. If this sounds like we hate you just because we have different views I suggest you look hard in the mirror.

    • @Terminator; honestly I do not know what you are on about! Tell me exactly what is wrong with what I have said? I have no time for cheap rants!

  1. please HH, lets us be serious sometimes. PF has shown a lot of maturity in as far as this issue of consititution is concerned, they have allowed people to debate freely because they want it to be a people’s document. its not about PF or opposition but about the Zambian people. both the PF and the opposition have interests that w’d favor them or simply give them advantage, i commend PF for trying hard so far not exert pressure on those vested with power to come up with this consititution. HH, just make your recomendations and quit playing politics.

    • Well spoken Musoli. We must not forget that UPND MPs chewed money during NCC and then U-turned at time of voting

    • Didnt you get the directive from the all powerful GS of the PF that no parallel discussion of the constitution without the “Technical Committee’s” guidance. Some NGO was almost arrested for organising such. So tell what free discussion are you talking about. Dont you remember some people being sent off from Luanpula disscussion that they are not delegates? Let us not follow and support blindly. You and your community should be free to discuss the draft, you can either be a church, chitente or any other small community. but alas someone was fuming. and if you try to gather for the same and you are not pro PF the you are inviting the POA to apply on you. Cry the beloved country

  2. I believe the PF govt means well on the constitution making process and will not circumvent the will of the people.

HH must realize that PF has nothing to lose if they delivered a people driven constitution and that is what the current process is about.

PF has not attempted to change anything that the majority of the people want in their constitution.

We all want the 50% +1 threshold and once included, I shudder to imagine how HH will marshal that to become president since he cant win under the easiest first-past-the-post formula currently in place.

    • WILL PF GET THE 51%?IN THE LAST ELECTION PF MANAGED 46% WHILE MMD AND UPND GOT 56%.IS PF AS POPULAR AS IT WAS A YEAR AGO?THE ZAMBIAN GEOPOLITICAL LANDSCAPE IS STILL CHANGING.5 YEARS AGO NO ONE GAVE SATA A CHANCE.LETS NOT PLAY GOD.2016 MAY BE 3 YEARS AWAY BUT IN THIS 3 YEARS A LOT WILL CHANGE .MARK MY MY WORDS.

    • It is the sporadic pronouncements to the negative that make HH and those of us who cherish majority rule, not this minority rule people seem to be so accustomed to.

  3. The pf govt should accord HH egoistic mapatizya and Mumba all the space they need to travel across zambia,to mingle and address citizens.these two wil soon be decampaining each other.the kabwata rally was a flop, they attributed this to pf.am apealing to the pf leadership to allow these parties hold their rallies and meetings. They both know 2016 pf is wining the elections, hence looking for excuses.Give Ba Mumba permit to hold rallies in western and southern provinces then HH allow him copperbelt and luapula provinces so that they prove to country how popular they claim to be.

    • So you admit that you have urinated on the rights of Zambian citizens to exercise their freedoms.? Thanks a lot Mr PF Cadre for seeing the light!

    • Be serious, under those hostile circumstances, the UPND rally in Kabwata was a great success. The PF was as usual scared and wanted to make sure that no one attended but they were mistaken. You surely are still shocked that it succeeded ad \I ca see through you posting. Shame on you.

  4. May be HH doesn’t realize what he is saying. What he is saying is that the PF has not interfered in the constitution making process. It means the peoples’ will is prevailing in the process. If this is so, then the PF should be highly commended for creating an enabling environment for a people-driven constitution.

  5. The Human Rights abusers are embarrassed after having been exposed to the outside world. You cant do 18th Century in the 21st century. Wake up dictators are not welcome in Zambia. Let opposition hold meetings without you sponsoring thugs to disrupt rallies

  6. Sure, you PF supporters want to ARGUE with the facts HH has raised???
I am beginning to see what HH meant on UNZA radio…PF supporters embrace ignorance and mediocrity.
With all due respect, Sata is grossly uneducated. I’m sure you agree. This means when you support his way of thinking, you LOWER your intelligence and reasoning to his standard. That’s unhealthy. Enough said.

    • u who is educated what have achieved. whether you like it or not its fact the man is president of the republic of Zambia with his humble education. I doubt if HH will ever rule Zambia with the 50%+ 1 clause u r advocating

    • @VMC, your quacking and quaking is very irritating! Stop talking about hypotheticals that you cant prove, dear retarded PF cadre!

    • @Goncalves, There is nothing to prove HEMCS the president of the republic of Zambia has humble education is a Fact and he is president another fact while the educated HH is no where near Corridors of state house.

    • @VMC, indeed, Sata’s humble education is what is scaring the sh.it out of Zambians. The guy doesnt even understand the constitution that is why he is all over the place. We congratulate him for rising to the Presidency. Unfortunately he has risen beyond his competence and this is very dangerous for the country. This is the reason why he is abusing the rights of the citizens because he has no confidence in his abilities. The only recourse is to turn into a tinpot dictator. It is a survival mode for leaders with an inferiority complex. Sata is not comfortable with his situation. He is President but he feels inferior. And he thinks the only weay to be superior is to put others down. Sata is a loser. He won the elections quite alright. Sadly, he has lost the nation!

    • @Goncalves, it seems every blogger’s comment that you interpret to be against HH makes you want to water it down. As an Independent person without any affiliations to UPND and PF my friend, I advise that you make time cause you said you dont have time, to read comments without wearing the HH/ UPND masks before commenting. Some of these comments are very good advise unless you just want to be politiking.

    • spy glass you can have all the degrees and craft certificates , but so long as you lack wisdom and leadership you fail to connect with the common man who gives the votes for one to go to plot 1.your HH has got degrees but lacks wisdom and cannot connect with the common man .i rest my case

  7. And who told you that this so called education you are getting, which is infact half baked is the same as wisdom. Sata may not as educated as your childish H.H but he surely is wise. Robert Mugabe is one of the most educated presidents in the whole world, yet he lacks wisdom. Don’t be cheated. Who taught the inventors of yester years how to invent, a car, a radio, t.v, electricity and so on. Where did they learn that from? Nowhere. It came from within them coz in us is wisdom. We are able to discern and make the right decisions. Who is greater, the one who teaches or the one who is taught. Don’t misunderstand me, education is good but wisdom is even better. Look at young Elias Chipimo, he is educated but he is also very wise unlike your H.H who is full of envy nd bitterness. If…

    • Oh dear! Still quaking and quacking and worst of all still making the usual tribal endorsements for a wiseman who cannot even win a ward election in his Mporokoso ancestral home! Chipimo has failed to convince his relatives in his Mporokoso village that he is wise! The Mporokoso villagers know that there’s no wisdom in accepting a bribe of an economy class ticket to Rio!

    • If Sata was wise, his actions would be a reflection of wisdom, it doesn’t at the moment, sorry. That is the reason only Mugabee has been to Zed since HEMCS took over.

  8. What is HH talking about? The PF has not imposed anything in the constitution and that is why I provided for provincial coversations. This really has nothing to say.During the past draft constitutions people were never given chances to convine and comment.

  9. Goncalves you better shut up.You have shallowed the bitterness of HH losing and clearly you are choking with envy.Your comments are always negative and you refuse to reason. You have put your brain on pause and have stopped thinking!Stop calling people quaks because you are the biggest quak!!

  10. as much as there will be cadres who will either be on the right or left there will also be observers that will see clearly thru the smoke of blind followers.Highlight if a plus is acheived by either the opp or the ruling party then we will make progress as a nation.Bwana HH advise PF on the best way forward with constitution for results.

  11. Goncaves lilobo; one side itole, the other ilobo. He thinks the educated will win 2016 with their bitterness. Actually many I would never simpathise with educated fools anymore; after Sata, we will all support Chirwa or Chipimo. Ati educaaateediii! Educated you cannot even apply any form of strategy to gain votes? Elo patali 2026!! Chikuubaabe!!

    • That is some barking! Now do everyone a favour. Wipe off that diseased saliva from your mouth before you infect others with your rabies!

  12. I thought that was the general thrust for making the Constitution. Its not up tp PF to tell us what we should reccommend

  13. HH and his minions like @congrave whatever must learn to keep quiet becoz the more they talk the more dullness they display. Pf has scored a + on the process. Who can believe in u ,u immature creature, urgly like a 200 yrs.C/wealth will vote 4 u.

  14. Congrave already the demons have made u mad and soon they will kill u even b 4 u see another under 5 lose with his subsequant kicking away by his then frustrated minions. Soon the marriege wih the other demon madness recepiant,Mumba will B cracking.

  15. I salute all well meaning bloggers I have used my real name so that you know am not like these chaps who support HH and Nevers even when they are in the wrong. Compariots we have no crdible opposition let’s face it..commonwealth will not vote in 2016 so can these opposition chaps grow up already… Its really sad…why can’t you see that HH and Nevers are just selfish chaps who will use you for their own gain.?

  16. You can easily analyse the line of thinking of HH. He thinks the PF government does not want the contentious issues to be included in the new constitution. So when provincial conventions adopt the contentious issues it becomes a field day for him and his minions to celebrate the defeat of PF and Sata. This kind of thinking is not only erroneous but can only be haboured by by someone who has serious problems trying to adjust to reality. The PF government has allowed the constitution debate to go on freely without interference and for the first time the contentious issues have been debated and adopted at district and provincial levels. This is a far cry from what obtained during the infamous National Constitutional Conference of Rupiah Banda.

    • Sata has objected to some of the contentious issues, even Kabimba has objected to the very 50% + 1. So what are you talking about? Actually, anyone who cares can see through your mind.

  17. What is coming out clearly about you Goncalves is that you are just a super anti – Bemba tribalist. Please leave out my tribe – Lungu – from your list of tribes. I don’t share your primitive prehistoric ideas and I don’t need translation of what Umubemba Inkonko has said. If you think you can play divide and rule politics by isolating Bembas from other peace loving tribes, I suggest you jump into the Victoria Falls!

    • @Fact . I do not speak let alone understand Bemba so it is foolish of your friend to address me in Bemba. I have not understood anything he has written. As for you, I think you are not that intelligent. It is simply tongue in cheek that I have requested your friend to dialogue with me using those other listed languages including unfortunately your Lungu! My dear I am just pointing out to your friend that there are many languages in Zambia and he shouldnt assume that I understand his and not the others. By the way you should be happy that I mentioned your mother tongue. Now go and play with your friends!

  18. Congrave u r backward u embacile.U and yo under 5 are not going anywhere. Yo hate 4 de Bembas is driving u mad .4 how long are u going 2 hate dem 4 dey will never bow down 2 any human being including de imperialists. Soon u& hh u’ll look big *****s.

    • By the way, I do not speak nor understand Bemba, so cut the crap! It is not my intention to learn nor speak the language! It is a matter of choice! As for the divide and rule stuff, I do not see how possible that is, as I am not “ruling” over anyone! You better get used to the fact that not everyone understands your Bemba language. So use English or a language which is understood by the person you are communicating with. Your Bemba language for me is a BIG NO!

  19. @Goncalve ,u shall c where yo under 5 will gt votes enough to take him to state house. Pipo like u should dare say so out there in the streets. U know for sure dat wen dese pipo get angry it is de day zambia will experience de first c/war.Plastic !

    • Have I punched your little ego? Stop assuming that I am conversant with your language. My dear I am not. And I dont intend to learn it. It is a matter of choice!

    • @Goncalves, your mind is still locked up in stone age thinking. When I travel to Western Province, I try so much to speak Lozi without if feeling inferior because I want to communicate with the Lozis. Mandela once said if you want to understand anybody even your enemy, you learn his languauge. and Indeed that proved a turning point during negotiaitions with Afrikaaner govt and they easily trusted and felt comfortable with him because he spoke their language and understood their culture, not that their culture was in anyway superior to his.

    • You must be one of a kind. A Chali speaking another Zambian language other than Bemba! Good for you and Mandela. Bad for Sata who only communicates in basic English and Bemba to every Zambian. My dear Bembas dont be pissed off simply because I dont speak your language. There’s no need to get annoyed with me. Bemba is not my language!

  20. I CAN’T WAIT TO C GONCALVE AND HIS UNDER 5 SUFFER FROM A STROCK FOR WHAT DEY DREAM WILL REMAIN AS DREAMS. PF Z SCORING A+ WITH DE CONSTITUTION MAKING PROCESS WHICH UPND COWARDS 2GETHER WITH MMD CROOCKS PLUNDERED UR MONEY ON WITHOUT ANYTHING 2 SHOW.

    • Whatever you mean by STROCK? You are the one who should be concerned with the negative effects of your anger. With your anger , you’re the most probable candidate for a stroke. You have all the symptoms. You are so angry that you write in capital letters. And despite several attempts you still cant spell my name correctly. Your spelling is generally very poor. So is your grammar.

  21. What scares me is not the PF tendencies but the fact that the opposition are deeming themselves redundant at a time when we need a focussed opposition.

  22. Operating languange among infidels and crooks is bemba. go in the police cells. or prison. this is a language for trading unpritables on the street. Have you ever heard a lumpen at a university operating in Tumbuka. Stop competing for fullishnes and self importance you Tongaz and Bembaz

  23. and you HH people still dont know you ; at least Sata promised somethin on which we shall judge him. Tell us something ‘sexy’ (to borrow your favourite terminolgy) . Commonwealth secretariate wont give you votes.

  24. oh no! 50% + 1, its the end of HIHA/HAHI. if he was getting 18% under the simpliest of formulars, how does he expect to marshal 50 +1 under such a rough terrain mountain.indeed this boy is a chimbwi no strategy(cns) I know his bupuba strategy is that he ll go into alliance with fake pastor, it wont work bitterman; ll only leave you more bitter. With your dismal performance shud ve insisted matters remain as they are.
