Chipolopolo key defender Stoppila Sunzu is out of Zambia’s June back to back 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan.
According to a statement issued by FAZ on Monday, Sunzu is out for a month after undergoing surgery on his troubled knee at the Italian Hospital in Lusaka last Friday.
Group D leaders Zambia face Lesotho and Sudan on June 8 and 15 June respectively at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
“He (Sunzu) is expected to be off all training for a minimum of four weeks.
“Coach Herve Renard has been advised of the success of the operation as well as the highly likelihood that Sunzu may not be available for the two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan on 8th and 15th June respectively,” read the statement.
Zambia lead Group D on seven points, one ahead of second placed Ghana at the half-way stage with three games played.
Lesotho are third on two points while Sudan are bottom with one point.
He got surgery in Zambia? Why was he not sent to India?
Its laughable to even contemplate playing him even if he didn’t undergo surgery as Sunzu has never played any competitive club matches this season.
Too baad, No Mweene, no Sunzu no Zambia…
but he has been playing – atleast now HR has something to blame for the coming poor results
All the best Sunzu!
quick recovery sunzu. Go Zambia
