Nawakwi chalenges Finance Minister to publish the perfomance of the budget

1. This is a very reasonable request and should be one of the key perforamance indicators for any sitting MOF. These people are operating as if they are running a family kantemba with decisions being made without consultation.

5. I agree with Edith on this one.Thats when variances will be shown which the sitting MOF must explain. Infact, we need such information published on a quarterly basis.If there is no law to compel the sitting MOF to provide such infromation, its time such law was passed.

7. This is definitely a very good request. These are public funds and the public must be kept informed.

8. I wish people understood what a budget is. For goodness sake it is a plan and any plan will have variances which Edith understands very well. What was the performance of her budget when she was minister of Finance? Why does she want to deceive people when the only thing she managed in her budget is to give her Boyfriend FT J Presidential slush fund on time. People should not be jealous for nothing. Am disgusted with the behavior of these so called educated.

     nawakwi has done nothing wrong by asking the minister to publish, in fact those budget issues must be published in black and white `automatically` without people asking or fighting about them!!!!

   • I agree with you. The budget is a guide. People should give PF a chance to perform and I think they are on the right track right now.

     However, it will be great to see government expenditure against planned activities. This will give the PF an opportunity to refocus in the next years budget and for people to share some more ideas. The list the PF govt can do is to publish a ministry by ministry expenditure. Bravo PF, you already published your expenditure, but you need to go a mile further to give more information. You guys a doing a commendable job so far.

9. This is the most reasonable request and should be supported by all patriotic Zambians. The PF government are stewards of the resources on behalf of the people of Zambia and are therefore accountable for the use of these resources

14. I do not seem to understand why this opposition are saying that there is a budget over run. Mr Sampa has clearly indicated that the money they provided for in the budget for by- elections has already been spent. So they are now using the money provided for un planned expenses just like the by elections (Contigent Fund). This is a prudent management of the budget. Bana Wakwe wants to look at the performance of the budget, there is nothing wrong with that. She is just misleading the nation. The budget is just a guide of income and expenditure, definitely you can not spend on some thing you did not plan for otherwise the contigent fund is there to cater for that and there is no way you curtail democracy

15. Can someone please advise whether at any point Ms Nawakwi did anything of the kind during her tenure? If she did , kudos, otherwise she should not expect a higher standard from her friends when in a similar position she could not reach those same “lofty” standards!

18. u people who are insulting Nawakwi on this one its u who are fools, bcoz she has a point and she is reacting from miles sampa’s lies that there is no budget overun when there is. even SATA’s response on budget overrun is not making any sense. sampa chipuba saana his calculation when he said by-election only costed 17bn its shows how PF are full of BUFI. ECZ told the nation that each by-election cost almost 7bn how can 10 by-elections cost 17bn as this chipuba miles sampa claims, u people be objective when posting some of your meaningless and useless comments on this online this is not PF site like the post newspaper where u want only pro govt comments
