Zambia enter sthe fray at the 2013 Cosafa Cup on Sunday when they take on Mozambique.

The two teams both enter the competition at the quarterfinal stage when they clash in a 15:00 hours kickoff at Nkana Stadium.

Zambia coach Herve Renard is still looking for his first Cosafa Cup win after tumbling in the 2009 final and finishing third in 2008.

“I don’t think winning the Cosafa will change something in my CV but it’s important for Zambia,” Renard said.

“When we lost the 2009 Cosafa Cup final, some players that played in that final in Zimbabwe were part of the AfCON winning team, so it is important for development.”

Players like Zesco United midfielder Kondwani Mtonga including striker’s Festus Mbewe of Nkana and Bornwell Mwape from Nchanga Rangers will be hoping to emulate the likes of Stopilla Sunzu who was one of Zambia’s stars at the 2009 tournament in Zimbabwe.

Victory for Zambia or Mozambique will earn them a semifinal meeting against Bafana Bafana on July 17 in a 20:00 hours kickoff at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Bafana beat Namibia 2-1 to advance to the last four.

Zambia are three- time winners of the competition whose defending champions Zimbabwe hold the record on four wins.

    • What makes you think Zambia will lose the Ghana game? I know why Zambia will win but I won’t mention this here

  3. Renard should respect every tournament than undermining the tournament. Its an important regional tournament and likewise money is being spent on it. Soccer fans want results nothing less whatever the competition. If not sure then lets not get involved at all.
