ACTING chief government spokesperson Fackson Shamenda has urged people not to listen to politicians who claim to be raising stars. Speaking at his office yesterday when he briefed the media, Mr. Shamenda said that the UPND should not consider itself a rising star because MMD members are merely after the money available in UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
“The UPND is calling itself a rising star but that’s a false belief because they are not as popular as they think,” he said.
Mr Shamenda said that that people who were defecting to other opposition political parties only did so because they wanted financial assistance to boost their campaigns.
“It is common knowledge that Mr Maxwell Mwale has only joined UPND because he does not have money and UPND has resources,” he said.
“UPND has resources to sponsor some broke politicians in by-elections. That’s why they are running to it,” he said.
Mr Shamenda said MMD members are not leaving their party on principle but because they are broke and cannot afford the cost of campaigns.
He said the PF had not lost any elections as speculated by some politicians since it came into Government.
“We have not lost any elections, as a matter of fact we have gained 10 more seats which is commendable, we are aware that we are not going to be here permanently therefore, we would like to keep the promise to the Zambians to be transparent,” Mr Shamenda said.
Mr Shamenda charged that the UPND will never form government because it practises regional politics.
“We have been accused of trying to turn Zambia into a one-party state. If that was so, would we have lost by-elections in Chipata Central, Kafulafuta and Solwezi East?” Mr Shamenda asked.

Well said Mr. PF Spokesman; yes, that is not a government statement; it is to do with your party perception of issues. You are echoing the very words we told you before that defectors to PF were only after your money. The additional PF parliamentary seats after the general elections were obtained when you dangled money to the eventual defectors.

Hon. Shamenda sound unsettled on the fast changing political landscape. His lamentations merely reveals and confirms that he is in PF system just to make dirty money. In civilized countries politicians join different political parties on the basis of shared principles (ideologies) to serve mankind.

Do not agree with Aromatic adelhyde Bada. I am a lawyer by profession and left Zambia after Mwanawasa died.
HH and many accountants and lawyers made huge monies when Chiluba and Sata embarked on privatisation of companies under ZIMCO.
It is not the fault of HH, Muna Hantuba, Chipimo and other professionals who were involved in privatisation exercise or took over some of the privatised companies. The fault lies with Chiluba, Sata and ZPA CEO Mr. Valentine Chitalu who cut deals with investors and made billions.
Do your research and you will be surprised. You are though right on some of the Zambians laundering billions and some of them are alive and associated with PF.
