Half full Levy disappoints Kambwili

Share

Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili is disappointed with the poor turn out of fans during Zambia’s 2014 CHAN qualifier against Botswana at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.

The stadium was half empty as Zambia beat Botswana 2-0 to advance to final round of the 2014 CHAN qualifiers via a 3-1 aggregate score line.
Kambwili said the low turn out was discouraging.

He appealed to fans to turn out in number whenever Zambia was playing.

“Today’s crowd was not too good, the stadium was empty,” Kambwili.

“My appeal to the people of Zambia please make sure when there is football especially when the national team is playing people come to watch,” he added.

And Kambwili said Chipolopolo deserved to beat The Zebras in Ndola.
“It’s a well deserved victory you can see that the team is improving everyday.”

  1. turn up as if its for free this fat monkey gotta no brain. make it free and you we see the people will even sit in the ground to cheer

  2. Well said Selenje. Kambwili is complaining as if he paid for the fans. I think half full is more positive than half empty. The quality of the game will determine the numbers as well. If that was an Afcon qualifier it could have been a different story. Kambwili shouldnt expect that just because a ball is being kicked @ Levy stadium fans should as if they have nothing to do. He should carry his staff and some pf cadres

  3. People have important things to take care of. Such as families, money for tith, walks, studying, weddings and relaxation. Football has been on the menu for the whole year kupumula is very important.

  4. You never stop to amaze me. No wonder you cry foul at the removal of subsidies because all you want is free everything. Where do you think the money to maintain the state of the art stadium will come from when is damaged. You want Levy Mwanawasa stadium to be subzdied as well. Wembly is always filled to capacity or better still Staples Center even Yankee Stadium also Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Stadium in India and they all pay more than the ZMW rebased for game which you bitterly complain about

    • In Zambia people are not accountable and goal oriented….there are no key performance indicators (KPI) in place a coach can go 20 matches drawing and will be comfortable because he won the 2012 AFCON, a bus can be donated to FAZ free of charge and yet FAZ still continues to hire buses for the nation team why don’t you ask the right people the right questions…the buck has to stop somewhere if a $60m rated stadia fails to fill-up, BUFFOON Kambwili should simply pick the phone and simply ask the relevant managers whether they are up to the stake at hand.
The world is awash with case studies on how to run these things but we choose to outdated methodologies people need to wake up and treat that venue like an asset not a liability.

Wake up people for the millionth time WAKE…

    • Don’t lie. Wembley is never always full. There are some games where the quality of the game will be not to standard, the stadium wont be full. So for Kambwili to think the Levy Mwanawasa stadium will always be full so long as there is a game, then he will continue to be disappointed.

  5. BUFFOON Kambwili at it again, the man like the empty entities at Football House have no idea on how to promote matches. How is charging K20 and upwards for a Zambia Vs Botswana match able to fill an event and you expect people to rush in…you should improve your ticketing system for Levy sell seats online even 4 months in advance and tweak the price according to supply and demand. Charge less for women and children if you want bums on seats. This is why I always say Zambian football will never go anywhere under these useless, greedy, corrupt, clueless, self-serving empty suits who think event promotion is as simple as a making an announcement by the the corrupt Great King to fill-up the stadium a before the match.

Wake UP BUFFOON Kambwili express your displeasure to the right people!!

  6. That stadium needs KR211,000 every month for effective maintenance works to be carried out. KR83,000 is funded by a gov’t grant and an additional KR100,000 is raised every month from hiring out the stadium for functions…which has left a shortfall. Which is likely to rise over time as maintenance costs increase over time. Gov’t should apply pressure on the management and the greedy FAZ empty suits if you want to balance the books hire the services of the best business people if want the best services. This $60million stadium was handed to practically free of charge to GRZ and by the look of things they have LAMENTABLY FAILED to run the place yet the selfsame people intend to build stadia in LIVINGSTON AND MONGU who is going to fill up those events there?
    Wake up gullible people!!

  8. FAZ must learn how to attract people to come and watch matches. The Zambia Botswana was a small match compared to Afcon qualifiers, the prices should have been lower. If for example the the gate charges were K50 as the highest pricing, the staduim could been full and they could have made more money.

  9. When planning for infrastructure such as football stadiums you need to consider the full package not just the stadium. Government need to seriously consider linking these stadiums with modern railway. People going to watch a football match will highly and likely be under the influence of alcohol and the number of serious traffic accidents in the country now is frightening. So if the match is not that important, then why risk the dangerous roads? Not all games will be sold out. You need to market yourselves more and stop blaming the consumer for poor turn out.

    • Spot on…these are simple issues instead of WHY? they should ask HOW can we improve numbers at Levy Stadium.

  10. Lessons well learnt! I think Marketers need tio be involved in this avenue as watching football must be a supplementary issue. Lets involve companies to run the maintenance show n peg god entry fees to attract so many pipo. Above all, let FAZ improve the team’s performance

  11. I agree with everyone advising the hippopotamus buffon to seriously consider advising that left footed but crooked football genius and his yes bwana football administration to slash the gate charges for less meaningful games like zambia-botswana. You think. Lusaka peopla for example can be burning the previously subsidised fuel to come and pay 100 k to watch Bostwana lose to zambia? Be reasonable!

  12. Government must lean from all the missing facilties that where left out like tenis, suqshi, basketball wedding hall am many other events to help pepo hire the place.plz honrable make sure you put such things in the other studums

  13. Levy stadium is a multipurpose facility but so far apart from football, it’s been used for funerals and nothing else. The running tracks are very expensive to maintain so if they are not being used, why do we insist on adding them to the stadiums? Multi purpose means you schedule out different events through the year and not wait and act on impulse. You could organise concerts, charity football games with some european teams. Marketing is costly by at the end of the day will bring in the revenues.

  14. FAZ HAS A HAND IN THIS LOW ATTENDANCE. IT IS TIME THESE GAMES GOT SOME QUALITY ADVERTISEMENT.
TRANSPORTATION OF FANS SHOULD ALSO BE LOOKED INTO

  15. if you are given free fuel and family tickets, some of us can’t afford tel Faz to also reduce their charges for such low profiled games!

  16. to start with just buying a ticket is headache and costly enough not to talk about the the high charges for such a low profile match. That useless arrogant boy erick mwanza cant do proper research and marketing for faz to ensure these games are full. zampost should not be used as selling point;its staff buy tickets for resale
Marely saying fans should come in numbers guarantees nothing, the economy is biting. Faz is on autopilot

  17. take high profile funerals there….especially those of you ministers when you die. When you die make sure you lie instate 2days in the stadium.,,,,,

  18. Let the games be played after 17hrs as most people are by the out of work. You will see many soccer fans even me come thro.

  19. Tell ballers to stop cellebrating with donchi kubeba tune. tell them to celebrate with BUFI and the stadium will be full

  20. free advice to faz. that game yalefwaika ati 10k north n south. 20k all round. as simple as tht meaning mo people n mo mone in ur pockets. mule senser guys tht game as other peopl v ored said was low profile kwasila.

  21. Mr Kambwili is right 4 he has risen a very gud question. The why one, then what u are supposed 2 advice him is2 rise de how 1 then de who nd so on so forth.Muli fi mumbwanshi ifyaba negative all the time? U must be demons indeed. Esply chi jay jay

  22. Stupid zedian @zp chaletamo politics. Why can’t u advice him in a civil manner? ls it only him to provide solutions? l wonder how u would want pipo to treat if you were in that position tho i know pipo like u id iots can b a disastor.

  23. Faz is to blame, because they have engaged post offices to sell the tickets on their behalf who just give black marketeers to sell the cheapest priced tickets on a price more than 100% profit. It is not that the Zambia people did not want to watch the match, the stadium was empty because the street sellers [ e.g. the Katondo people in Kitwe town center ] had kept tickets to go to waste when a lot of wonderful football loving Zambian fans could not find where to buy the K20 announced tickets. In short, I am saying that the post office authorities buy all the K20 tickets and give them to their black market agents to sell at K50. The K50 normal price go at K70 OR K80 on black market. These people don’t mind their sells as they are able to get back their money after selling a few tickets.
