Dr Effron Lungu being sworn in as Foreign affairs Minister

President Michael Sata has with immediate effect dropped Foreign Affairs Minister Effron Lungu.

He has since appointed Lands Minister Wilbur Simuusa as Foreign Affairs Minister while the Ministry of Lands remains unoccupied.

President Sata has also sworn in former RDA Chief Executive Officer Bernard Chiwala as Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport, Communications, Works and Supply.President Sata instructed Mr Chiwala to ensure that the Link 8,000 road project is fully implemented.

Last month, President Michael Sata publicly rebuked Foreign Affairs Minister,Effron Lungu for writing him a letter and copying it to Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, Margaret Miyoba. The President said he had served in various governments before and has never seen a minister writing a letter to the President and copying it to other people such as Permanent Secretaries or any other person.

“The letter that you wrote to me and copied to other people, I shredded it because I do not expect you to copy a letter that is coming to me,” President Sata said.

The visibly disappointed Head of State stated that he has never encountered such a thing in his political career and advised Dr Lungu to be serious with his work.

Dr.Effron Lungu was sworn in as Foreign Affairs minister in February this year replacing Given Lubinda who was fired after being charged with treachery and disloyalty to the PF party.

    • Sata is no different from South Sudan’s Silva Kiir except that Sata hasn’t the audacity to touch “the Untouchables”

    • But this man has long and overgrown hair, how come he has been fired while Bob Sichinga and Alexander Chikwanda with bald heads have survived? Is it because he is not bemba? So far all the ministers that have been fired by Sata are not bembas and someone wants us to believe that the man is not tribal, well, let then cheat those they can manage and not me! I refuse to be cheated once again! VIVA HH! VIVA UPND

    • John Doe, why do you want my president dead? Please leave him alone. The fact that you dont agree with him does not mean that you need to wish him dead. Musiyeni mwana atake.

    • Too bad ba John Done and your TB Joshua please dont wish someone death till God almighty allows it. Bad hearted and I believe you dont even go to church. You may die earlier than him if you are not careful

    • @John Dic.k, your primitive hatred for Sata will never take you anywhere! Just campaign hard for your man. Convince him to leave SATANISM/ freemasonism maybe one day, just may be in the 2050s someone can entrust him with power to run this country!!!!

  1. Wonders shall never end. Where is he hiring and firing from.

Ideed he is the spitting cobra. Were all blinded.
    Hahahahaha!!

    • Lole…remove that pic they might just come after you even when you are speaking the truth. psycho mata is good at such as opposed to seeing zed develop

  2. Sata must be seeing double vision,,, he is not seeing what normal people are seeing. There are surely much important and pressing issues in zambia than swearing in ceremonies and bye-elections…
seriously does man have advisors or he is just …kaya!!! firing someone for writting him a letter and copying other people within the same work structure… is kufunta!!!

    • Are sure thts the reason why he has been fired. Get your facts correct and not mere insinuations. This is a public forum.

    • @Dinky
I dont have to be sure or remote controlled with lies like you from PF. I just have to read the information/news in the unbiase article above and make up and apply my independent mind. so yes the reason Effron lungu was fired because of that letter or at least one of the reasons he (Effron Lungu) was fired was that same letter!!!

  3. Serving in Sata’s government is a risk. You risk being used like a USEFUL *****. when they dont have use for you, you get fired. Creating a position for his friend Given Lubinda.

  4. Pipo his Excellency, MCS has really worked hard since he came in power, how many of you bloggers can beat his record of hiring and firing..give credit were its due…..2 yrs in office and the man is on it, he should be exhausted now, when is he taking leave!!!

  5. Ba Lungu, how surely can yu do such a thing?
and I guess, the contained Classified data…. and now yu copy it to a PS…wao!

    • @Josic
Where do you work? And is this so abnormal to you. We don’t know the contents of the letter and it is Efron Lungu to judge whether or not the contents are suitable and/or relevant for others to be copied in. It could be a form of informing, instructions or anything like that which maybe be subject to the Sata knowing. Just because he is the President does not mean that letters to him cannot be copied to anyone especially those that are within Govt or relevant departments.

  6. Ndobo do you think Effron is the only man who can do the if he is found wanting i dont see any reason to keep him on the team there are alot of people in zambia who may do better than Effron

    • read my comment to understand again!!!!… i did not say Effron should have been kept!!!!…..No!!!
yoyoyo!!! i see your problem, you are used to believing everything PF says to you, therefore your mental arrangement is distorted

  7. Am sorry my dear former Lecturer. Just go back to the lecture theatre where there is dignity. not this hire and fire stuff.

  8. Did someone draft the letter for him? What about the Personal Secretary and Stenographers in his office who should have typed the letter if he did not do it himself? Actually, even if he did, they would have raised the alarm upon seeing the cc to the PS. The PS is was copied to should have raised the alarm immdeiately so that the letter could have been blocked and recalled. Was he oriented properly by the officials? Dr Lungu, like many other people, including many civil servants, did not know that is is an offence to copy a letter to a higher authority. The civil servants at the Ministry and Cabinet Office are equllay to blame. Dr Lungu did not go to the school of govt to know these things. NIPA used to do a good job but for whatever strange reason this has since stopped.

  9. In his sedated state Sata can fire someone???

What goes on at Foreign Affairs?

    Kambwili was dismissed
    Given Lubinda was also dismissed.
    Then now Effron Lungu….

Maybe they leak info to diplomats and Ukwa whilst heavily sedated is told.

    • I guess Shamenda is higher on the list. He doesn’t add any value whatsoever. However, having said that, Kabimba is also high on the list of people requiring the sack.

  10. @cat power, you were blinded, not all. I could never be blinded by that man, never. as a matter of fact, I learnt the hard way that some Zambians are still backward. how could a person vote for that man if in right state of mind and political consciousness?

  11. This is a hardworking president. Not what we saw from the flying eagle RB.
    Ever on the plane.
    From one country to another.
Some times we had RB embarking from one plane at KK airport and jumping on another waiting plane.
He turned Zambia into a layby.

  12. This his way of telling people that he is still alive and working.

Whenever, Sata is bed-ridden and under pressure to show himself to the nation, he does something of such kind of spectacular acts or stunts. Either to Reshuffle, Appoint or Fire someone.

HE has been STRONGLY advised to step down by doctors, IF he wants to extend his number of days.

He has committed so many wrongs things and found himself in a Typical Catch 55 situation that all bad leaders or dictators do. And that is to just hang in to power.

This time, its not good for him, judging by our friends that went in and out of Plot 1 last night. Hence, the reason why security is very tight.

  13. I see no sense in this our gov, when are they going to address important isues than this firing, hiring and byelection plz ask God to give u wisdom Mr sata before 2016.
    Nizanu Izo

  14. I saw this one coming only i thought Hmcs would give back the LG his post back, am waiting…., i guess he’s got some other attractive package somewhere within the ring.
Good luck mr Lungu, it’s never easy being a bread winner without a job especially now, i hope you will secure something even more shiny that what you had, remember, go what may come what might!

  15. Yaluka kuseni-seni ba Lungu. surely in less than a year? Too bad Dr. Lungu!!! Anyway that’s politics. You can still go back to UNZA like Dr. Chigunta did.

  16. This is a clear message to biggest stooge Chief Mpezeni that easterners are never considered worthy assets in the PF regime. The easterners are merely used as tools at convenient times and later discarded as toilet tissues down the drain.

The obvious casualties in the PF regime are Mr. Sebastian Saizi Zulu , Prof. Chirwa and Mr. Effron Lungu. Edgar Lungu is maintained as atool to appease easterners due to the up-coming elections in Petauke, Malambo and Katete.

Since we fondly respect our Paramount Chief Gawa Undi and Snr Chief Kalindawalo, the easterners must mobile their wisdom to ensure all the 3 seats go to the opposition parties.

Besides, Bembas and easterners must plan to raise allowances for the welfare of our Chiefs to offset political interferences in our traditional…

  17. President Sata & Appointments
One thing l failed to understand is Sata’s conception of presidency. I was one of the people who celebrated his sensational ascend to the highest office in the land. But years later l’m proved wrong.
He has occupied himself with the hiring and firing of ministers and officials. Zambians need real bread and butter issue to be addressed. Zambians cannot benefit from a president who publicly rebuke his ministers or officials. Zambians can not benefit from the State House being converted into a Human Resources Department. Zambians cannot benefit from a government that keep sitting on campaign laurels.
A child in Mporokoso needs money for school, a man in Kamwala South needs a well-paying job, an elderly man in Masaiti needs clean drinking water, a pregnant…

  18. From one plane to the other as Foreign Affairs Minister. Manje ni pa intercity from Lusaka to kwa Chama.

    • I would advise Lubinda never to be lured back after such cruel humiliation he suffered from the entire PF leadership, ‘once bitten twice shy’. I would rather prefer he resigns from the PF altogether and join another party where he can re-contest and without doubt retain his Kabwata seat and carry on from there a respected man.

  19. i would love if it was mr crazy eye winter kabimba.
    am enjoying this…more confusions pliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz.

There is : Catch 22, Catch 55 and Catch 77. They are all used in different scenarios. If that helps

    • Sorry, but that doesn’t help…. not me at least. How exactly can these different terms be used?

Catch 22 is an idiom coined from the title of Joseph Heller’s book of the same name. It refers to a no-win situation or “double bind” (catch 22). What exactly is a Catch 55 or Catch 77?

….when I Googled “Catch 55” all I found are links to a fish restaurant in Chicago and “Catch 77” led me to some music group.

That said, I suppose you are right…. each term can be used in a different scenario: “I had a great dinner at Catch 55 listening to Catch 77, but then the waiter said I could only use my coupon for 50% off if I spent twice as much – it was a real catch 22!”

As for INDEPENDENT OBSERVER’S purpose, I imagine “catch 22” would have been the best choice.

    • Catch 22 is also called ‘The devils Alternative’……there also a book either by Frederick Forsith or robert Ludlum. Whatever alternative u take its a lose situaion given two options!

  21. The problem here is that ba Effron Lungu doesn’t know how to lie. He is not like the other PF cadres in the cabinet. He should have told someone the truth where Sata went hence the firing. I think this man believes in transparency.

  22. So where exactly was Mr Sata ‘firing’ from?
As a by the way, did some of you bloggers listen to Sata’s friend, Mugabe, yesterday?
Talking about the election results, he stated; ” Those who do not accept the results can go hang themselves” Then in Shona he further stated that “when they are dead, not even the dogs will be able to smell their bodies”
    (Showed him on television)

  23. This firing shows Sata’s weakness as president. His whole leadership is anchored on people and not on ideas. They say small minds dwell on people but great minds focus on ideas.

  24. CV of six months work experience as a Foreign Affairs Minister. I once walked for a certain company just for two days!

  25. power is working now this is the commando
    party we all voted for.
so let our cricism be constructive coz we are jst facing the consequences of our votes
epamaka mwalefwaya apa fireee, swear innnnnnn pamakafitalaaaaaa

  26. Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba (l)

Homes Affairs Minister Lameck Mangani has charged that Wynter Kabimba is the most inept secretary-general the Patriotic Front (PF) has ever had.

Mr Mangani has also revealed that he has impeccable information that Mr Kabimba was only hanging on in the party because PF president Michael Sata was keeping a damning dossier on his dealings while he was Lusaka town clerk fearing that it may be exposed if he dared cut links with him.

In apparent reference to sentiments attributed to Mr Kabimba in the Press which described Mr Mangani as acting like a rottweiler which was on the loose, Mr Mangani said the PF secretary-general was himself behaving like a dog going by the petty comments he had been issuing in the Press of late.

  27. The minister said Mr Kabimba should also tell Zambians the truth about a house he allegedly purchased at a scandalously reduced price when he was town clerk.

He added that Mr Kabimba instead of generating frivolous law suits on inconsequential matters which did not have a bearing on his party, should be organising the PF now that it was apparent Mr Sata and Dr Guy Scott were tired, going by the loss of steam in their programmes.

“His party is not thriving because he lacks stamina and on the issues of loyalty, he is behaving like a bigger dog because he knows that Mr Sata has a dossier on him and he knows he will be finished if this information is released in public domain. He is hanging on to the PF for personal reasons. Tell me, who is the dog in this regard,” he said.

    Mr…

  28. @Ndobo ,bwaimuka ubushilubobe? Bravo ba kateka! When u a vision currier u tremple on any obstacle. The ***** was unrepentant and incompetent as many Zambians are.Can u John Doe ,the demon stop bringing the name of the man of God in this?Bravo pf!

  29. I suggest that LUBINDA be given a ministry he behaved well he was in trouble. he showed maturity at its highest point. He is a Cabinet material. For Mr Lungu its not the end of the world continue serving your people in other avenues God will reward you.amen

  30. Awe its not fair. This man even started keeping hair and dyed it so Ukwa didn’t freak out of the bald head. Mudala just go to the barbershop now

  31. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG FOR THE PRESIDENT TO DROP HIS UNDER PERFORMING MINISTERS. DR LUNGU WAS SOMETHING OF A MUWELEWELE. HE WAS VERY ACADEMIC TO WORK WITH PF CADRES THATS WHY WYNTER SUMMER STATED RECENTLY THAT THERE IS NO MORALITY IN POLITICS. INFACT SUPER KEN USED TO DROP HIS MINISTERS ETC VERY OFTEN. TO SUPER KEN IT WAS LIKE A GAME. COMRADE CHIBANDA HAS TAKEN TOO MUCH TO THE BOTTLE, FINES BULAWAYO LOW BLOOD PRESSURE ETC.

  32. Sata just continues from where he left off at the last swearing in ceremony like nothing has happened since…what a joke!!

  33. Sata just continues from where he left off at the last swearing in ceremony like nothing has happened since…what a joke!!

  34. Sorry Dr. Lungu. But it was inevitable following the oversight of official etiquette. Don’t despair. You are still in government as as MP for Chama South. President Sata is on track with his mission to develop Zambia and stir the ship in the correct direction. His detractors are covered with shame and inadequacy. They can’t measure up to him. After all most of them are political toddlers.

  35. wow wow I think many people we saw this coming against Mr Lungu. No doubt the president was disappointed about Mr Lungu’s behavior of copying a letter to the president and giving a copy to permanent secretary foreign affairs, he wasn’t being professional, lesson learned.

  36. Could it be Lungu was utterly disgusted with something (by copying letter to his PS), and couldn’t care less if anything were to happen to him, even if it resulted in the
loss of those trappings of power at the PF table?

  37. ITS WILD WORKING IN REVERSE GEAR TAKING THE CONTINENT BACKWARDS AND LOSING DIRECTION SO EASILY EVEN WHEN SIGNPOST SAY ECONOMY IS NOSE DIVING

  38. We need Sata alive. Infact we need to pray for him not only to live but to stay in power till 2016. It’s Sata we need on the ballot. A dead Sata has potential to bring some sympathy to PF. Worse still we don’t want any of the current PF players acting in the wake of his death and then hoodwinking the Zambians that they were not part of his delusions. In 2016, we need a clean sweep. A clear message that Zambians are serious people of above average wisdom. That’s how we have been known until this lunacy came to rule.

  39. Never known a country to have a swearing in every week. It goes to show that these appointments are the same as playing musical chairs. Satas version of a press conference is a swearing in ceremony, where can crack his dry jokes.

  40. mugabe is a retard not to be taken seriously his onld and soon leaving the boat in fact his arrogance will finish in hell theres a special place for these kind of *****s that make masses suffer ask hitler he knows and all these retards that harm innocent people lie to masses will shit bricks
