Ghana FA accuses FAZ of desperate acts

Share

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has accused FAZ of desperately trying to shift Ghana’s focus from the September 6 crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup.

FAZ on Monday officially wrote to FIFA to complain over the alleged hate speech issued by Ghana and Fulham midfielder Derek Boateng recently.

But GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has described the complaint by FAZ as baseless.

Nyantakyi told the local media that FAZ’s complaint to FIFA was a desperate attempt aimed at shifting Ghana’s attention from the crucial match set for Baba Yara Stadium.

He said the statement issued by Boateng on a local radio station do not represent the views of his association.

“It rather gives an impression of a team of officials who are desperate and looking for every straw to hold and have a case to make against Ghana,” Nyantakyi said.

“I think it is a baseless allegation and we should disregard it. For me, it does not tickle me anyway, I am not persuaded at all by that step,” he charged.

Nyantakyi added:”First of all Derek Boateng is not an official of the Ghana Football Association, he does not speak for the Ghana FA.”

Zambia must beat Ghana to advance to the two-legged World Cup qualifiers playoffs.

    • @Decotexx, I equally wonder. Why would FAZ preoccupy themselves with things that won’t influence the outcome of the Sept 6 match? I think it’s more the focus of the Zambian soccer fans that FAZ is trying to distract after failing them so much. Believe you me, these are clear signs that FAZ is now resigned to the reality of their failure to secure qualify for the Brazil 2014 Wold Cup. What a shame!

    • Is LT your only source of sports news? BBC Africa and their “Love African Football” page are always up to date and spot on I have it on my FB news-feed. If you continue reading ONLY Zambian sports media you will be gullible and have a narrow vision like average Zambian fan.

  1. WTF!
These guys are already scared of chipolopolo? Ghana talk with your legs and show us what you are made of not this cowardice you have started illustrating even before the wistle is blown, atase kupusa imwe! Football and it’s politics not again.

  2. True. One rotten peanut does not make the whole bag a reject. There is really no significant reason to warrant a neutral venue.

    • What nonsense! These FAZ guys are just being petty. They know they’ve messed up and can’t secure the country a place in Brazil.

  3. O Zambia, Like seriously?? so what should FIFA do, cancel the match? or move the match to Ndola? or neutral venue? which option do you pick for reporting something which a muppet said to psyche his fellow countrymen? Like our FA chairman who happens to be lawyer has said this is a rather baseless accusation and I would advise you concentrate on the big match because for us in Ghana, this match means more than a World Cup 2014 ticket to us, we really have to establish our authority once and for all. There shall be a “bloodbath”… notice bloodbath is in quotes which means its not the literal meaning, I actually mean, we shall severely beat Zambia. Oseee Ghana Black Stars! The Brazilians of Africa. Dont envy us, its not our fault that we’re so good!. Anyway we say AKWAABA which is…

    • Pride comes before a fall my brother. ‘Brazillians of Africa’ , my foot. We wired you neatly in Gabon ,remember ? And we shall wire you again whether you throw stones or not

    • Get your facts straight Muppet, Ghana has never been a factor to Zambia, check the past records and you will be disappointed, remember what happen in Gabon and Ndola, since when did you became the Brazil of Africa? your players cant Mach our natural talented young players as opposed to your black magic players *****.

    • U HAVE BEEN BITTEN ON SO MANY CRUCIAL MATCHES INCLUDING THEIR IN KUMASI BEFORE LOOK BACK 1988 AND WE COME RENEW THAT HISTORY ON 6TH SEPT WEATHER U LIKE IT OR NOT.(HESTORY SHALL BE REWRITTEN SOON)

  4. Ba ZAMBIA always giving excuses. You want FIFA to change the venue to where? When your hooligans fans misbehaved at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, FIFA just took note. Just go and face the reality of football and not Boardroom decisions. Bakaya misakula. 4 – 0

  5. Sometimes mind games work, but in case ghanians do something silly to our boys FIFA gonna punish Ghana! Go Zambia altho the game will be tough.

  6. Don yaw ur boateng is planin to mistreat as after we win or loss these are sighs tht the blackstars ar awere de a lossin,y plainin to mistreat if u hav alredy won ,nonsense

    • Your FA should have pleaded with FIFA to shift the match from the Garden City of West Africa (Kumasi) Ndola and I bet you the GFA would have gladly obliged. I want to tell you that we in Ghana dont care a straw where the venue of the match is. All we want is for it to take place on the 6th of September as scheduled so we get it over and done with in the shortest possible time. FIFA has aided you enough and the world has seen it. If you truly are stuff for workd cup, you would have capitalised on the free handouts (3 points from Sudan) given you by FIFA. Ghana has bigger fishes to fry after the 6th. We even have a date with Japan on 8. Its more important, thats why we shifted this match to a Friday. Come back when you qualify to play in the big boys league. Dont tickle yoursel and laugh

  7. The fact that the ‘hate speech’ by Boateng is not mentioned means that there is really nothing to it. Whatever it was, Boateng was expressing his personal opinion and not representing the Ghana FA. If the so hate speech offended the FAZ they should have first complained to the Ghana FA.
Zambian team should not be self distracting but prepare for the crucial game. Moaning to FIFA over trivialities will get you nowhere.

    • @ London eye, it means that you did not read what Erick Mwanza said in his press statement. What Boateng said has potential to incite hooligans to rise against our boys if say they score or win the game. Boateng called upon Ghanian fans to revenge the mistreatment they were given while in Zambia and he cited police brutality and FAZ not providing them with what he wanted etc. What Ghana FA president shud have done was to reprimand the boy and assure FAZ of safety than rubishing such potentially explosive statement from a soccer star. It is like Chris katongo or Mweene urging fans to mistreat opponents, surely, Ndola hooligans wud misbehave and embarrass the nation.

  8. Decotexx’s question needs to be answered by the reporter who wrote the story above. As it is the story is halfbaked. You dont report that Sata is fighting HH without telling us what they are fighting about.

  9. Ba FAZ stop the childishness. You are now planting uncertainty in the camp. Motivate the chaps to go and try to book a seat on the flight to Brazil, not this fluffing around. This is embarrassing.

  10. Erick Mwanza’s statement was a clear reaction to potential danger our boys may face in Ghana from hooligans; and FAZ was justified to take precautions. What Boateng said and was reported in their local media has potential to incite hooligans to rise against our boys if say they scored or won the game. Boateng called upon Ghanaian fans to revenge the mistreatment they supposedly received while in Zambia and he cited, among others, police brutality and FAZ not providing them with what he wanted etc. What Ghana FA president shud have done was to reprimand the boy and assure FAZ of safety than rubishing such a potentially explosive statement from a soccer star. It is like Chris katongo or Mweene urging fans to mistreat opponents, surely, Ndola hooligans wud misbehave and embarrass the nation

  11. Ghana shall fall. I can foresee Ghana playing with a rage because we have beaten so many times. Remember those movies like the guy that trained Bruce Lee. He never faught with a rage and he won all the fights. When people come in a game with rage they usually lose because they become disoriented and lose the focus and purpose of the match or game. People using terms like blood bath. This is all about intimidating tactics. We will just go there playing fare and good and beat them then we will have settled for good that we are a better team than them and we don’t need to play outside our country because we are not poverty stricken running around the whole world as beggars playing in the so called better teams. We are Zambia and we the leathal Chipolopolo will beat them right there in Ghana.

  12. FAZ’s new winning formula: lose to Sudan in Khartoum, draw with Sudan in Ndola, draw with Lesotho in Maseru and then hope to fly past Ghana in Kumasi! That will be quite some legacy for the Chipolopolo.

  13. Kambwili has called for prayers.Renard has recalled Chintu kampamba, a player and prayer warrior. We’ll do the praying now u boys do the playing. Renar shud do the forgiving (recalling ) of cliff for our prayers to work. Simple.
