Some HIV/AIDS activists in Kasama district have commended government for its quick response in purchasing the Antiretroviral Viral drugs (ARVs).
Joseph Chitupa and Charles Sampa say the assurance by government that it will be buying over 350,000 packs of the drugs every month is very encouraging and redeeming.
Mr Chitupa said in a statement to ZANIS in Kasama today that the move is a clear demonstration that government cares for the health of its citizens particularly for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
He has since appealed to government to ensure that it monitors the distribution levels of the drugs to avoid another occurrence of shortages.
Mr Chitupa noted that any reported shortage of the drugs might lead to panic among people living with HIV/AIDS.
And Mr Sampa appealed to people who do not know their status to go for Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT).
Mr Sampa noted that knowing one’s status is important as it helps one to maintain status quo and also helps one to seek other interventions like getting free ARVs if positive.
Meanwhile, a local businessman in Kasama has urged government to increase the budgetary allocation to the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) to ensure that more people have access to the funds to improve their livelihood.
He said government needs to also allocate more funding to the Youth Empowerment Fund under the Ministry of Youth and Sport so that many young people are empowered with capital to start business.
Mr Chishimba noted that empowerment funds, if well utilized, can play a crucial role in eradicating poverty and unemployment in the country.
ZANIS
At least a positive development for once.
Don’t thank government for doing their. Government should thank you for tolerating their incompetencies!
No need for thanks. Shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Would be nice to see thanks for a non-corrective action for a change.
good and have six and kill yourselves! i mean ama live.
Come on you kasama people. No need to thank them. It shouldn’t have happened . This failed state just need to go
I just hope the drug interruption won’t have negative consequences such as multiple drug resistance. Otherwise, we thank the government and the donor community for the continued support.
James and Charles you are looking for cheap publicity ,you are obviously PAYA FYONSE (PF) CADRES from the look of things.Reminder, that money they used is not their own money but tax payers money. Moreover ,someone from their corrupt government has made a fortune from this deal.
YOU DON’T NEED TO THANK GOVERNMENT FOR PROVIDING ARVs, IT IS GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE FOR ITS PEOPLE, THEY ARE USING OUR MONEY, NOT THEIRS.
I am struggling to understand why Medical Professionals are failing to treat the HIV, like they have done with the Polio and TB Viruses – if we are to use Logic:
1. In accounting an Asset is always a Debit regardless of the form in which it occurs
2. In law there is what they call precedence, meaning if a similar case occurs, then a set precedence will be passed in Judgement.
3. In economics, High supply will always lead to low demand and vice visa.
So really were is the Problem with our medical pipo, a human body is a constant element and a virus has a character that it can not be destroyed, but can be made to be dormant so that its not life threatening. We walk and live with flu, TB virus etc, so where is the problem with HIV? Unless there is no Logic or Precedence in Medicine,…
the whole thing seems fishy and from my research so far,i have come to the understanding that HIV does not cause AIDS and thats why even with the new drugs or cocktails like they call them e.g Protease, they have managed to stop HIV from multiplying itself in the human body. This means in essence that the carrier of the HIV would never develop into an AIDS case since the number of HIVs would not increase and the antibodies would effectively win any battles against any disease since they are not depleting. but however even after taking these drugs like protease, people still develop AIDS. why? the answer is simple and irrefutable, then HIV is not the cause of AIDS,the real cause is in the drugs we use in trying to treat HIV. HIV is a practically harmless virus.
Thank who? Its like thanking your employer for paying u yr salary.. Thats our hard earned money
can we start getting sick because its governments responsibility to buy ARVs?
‘Where is the shortage coming from?i thought govt has statistics of there patients who require these drugs.simple logic is a 1×90 days supply per patient. The other thing is that these drugs are still coming without a GRZ label. What measures have govt done in order to safe guard these drugs from theft which might result in being smuggled to other countries? if no measures are done then the shortage of these drugs will still be an on going scenerio.
ARVs are the cause of AIDS and not HIV mwebantu. HIV is a practically harmless retrovirus. Show me a medical journal with findings that HIV causes AIDS.
