Tana -Minor adjustments needed for Zambia

Share

Ex-Chipolopolo captain Elijah Tana says adjustments to the current Zambia squad are necessary following the team’s failure to reach the final stage of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Tana said he is against the idea of overhauling the entire Christopher Katongo led Chipolopolo squad.

He described Zambia’s failure in the World Cup campaign as sad.

“The failure by Zambia National soccer team to qualify to the 2014
World Cup was a sad moment,” Tana said.

“There is no need to change players in the national team as that would destroy the team but few adjustments would be necessary,” he said.

He, however, remained confident that in future Zambia will qualify for the World Cup.

“To everything there is a time and it definitely wasn’t the time for Zambia to go to the World Cup.”

  1. I agree with Tana that only minor changes have to be done to the team. I believe there are better players out there who should have worn the chipolopolo jersey. However, there is a serious need for a major overhaul of the management staff. First of all, the blood thirsty kalu led executive needs to go. they have outlived there usefulness. secondly, let the PE teacher to. I’ve always said that we deserve better than this job on training coach. If he’s worth the salt let him get a job.

  2. I meant to say, let him (HR) apply for a job elsewhere. If he’s worth it, teams will scramble for him. currently I dont think even a fourth division team in Cambodia will give a job.

  3. most of u pipo that cry for HR’s blood are ungrateful. Wish most of u were english and are england fans then u would see that HR is a good coach.
England qualification for the world/euro cup are a night mare. This is the country that has brainwashed the whole world..it has the best league yet even in uefa CL its clubs struggle. At the world/euro cup, the england coach’s taget is quarter finals,i dont know what most of u HR critics would say. pliz giv HR chance.

    • most of these ” soccer experts” on this blog are nothing but hypocrites…only a year ago after our afcon victory they sung chipolopolo the loudest and didn’t see anything wrong with a PE DIPLOMA.

  4. Which good players are out there, lets be serious, this seasons UEFA , will pass again and we will not see any Zambian player participate, we need good strikers, not the caliber of bornwell mwape and it is the job of local coaches like Tana to create them not HR , HR’s job is to choose them. At the moment , Jacob is the only good striker for Zambia and he is getting old, forget about Mayuka, he could have picked up by now in Europe. Come on guys were are the good local players

  5. After all is said and done country men is to find a striker/s. The stats speak for themselves. But of course the defence have been consistent. When did we score more than one goal in any game? And then get rid of “sell by date” players. With all due respect Captain Chris legs are gone
