Government has dismissed allegations by United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema that salaries for the executive were increased by 27 percent.
Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba has maintained that recently announced new salaries for the executive were only increased by 10 percent and not 27 percent.
Mr. Yamba has told Qfm in an interview that if there any people who are not convinced that the salaries were not increased by this percent they are free to check the Statutory Instrument (SI) that the Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda signed on the said increment.
He says the SI on increased salaries for the executive can be accessed at the Government Printers in Lusaka.

10% salary increment + 17% special allowance increment = 27% pay increment for the president.

Fred Yamba (Dr) knows how to use a calculator. But like his brother in law (Sata) is a deception expert. Sata did not get a 27% increase (forget 10%). Because Sata is not taxed as I am at 35% (PAYE), he got a 77% (Seventy Seven) increase. Because he is shielded from the national inflation as he does not spend the cash (The State pays for AAAAALLLLL his expenses), his effective increase at the average cpi of say 7% is thus 83%.

I am surprised that the salary of the executive is public debate. Is the parliament not supposed to do the debate?
I don’t think HH is doing himself a favour by lying. I thought as an economist, he should have checked his figures with the Committee than are mostly opposition. If this is what the tongas have to offer, then mwabeja.
