The Football Association of Zambia has announced that Chipolopolo will next month play away friendlies against Egypt and Jordan.
The 2012 African champions will face Jordan on November 3 in Amman before tackling The Pharaohs of Egypt eleven days later in Cairo.
The Egypt friendly will be played on a FIFA recognized day of friendlies.
“FAZ is pleased to inform the football fraternity and nation as a whole that we have concluded consultations and agreements to play the national teams of Jordan and Egypt in November 2013 as we continue the regeneration of the Zambia national soccer team,” FAZ Spokesperson Erick Mwanza said on Monday.
“The match between Jordan and Zambia will be played on a non FIFA date and will therefore feature a locally assembled side which will use the tie to prepare for the 2013 CECAFA championship as well as exposure of youngsters to the rigours of international football.”
Mwanza added:”The fixture against Egypt is on a FIFA competition date and will therefore feature the full compliment of the Chipolopolo to be called by Coach Patrice Beaumelle.”
On 15 October, Zambia played against Brazil in a high profile friendly in China –the match Chipolopolo lost 2-0.
HMmm,from brazil to egypt. egypt is finished,they were hammered 6-1 by ghana a few weeks ago. why do we even have to play egypt,the country is in disarray and since their players are local,they have not been up to par with games and training. thats why they are underperforming and we should not play them,bnot at this stage atleast when they are weak. balatuwi-shisha ka fifa ranking even if we beat them. we’ll need to hammer them like 10-0 to improve our rating by 1. anything less will make us drop in the ratings.
Egypt are ranked far higher than Zambia on FIFA rankings. Beating them will give Zambia more points to climb up the FIFA rankings ladder.
Teams that are not worth it are those below us on the rankings.
Am thinking it is not safe to play in Cairo…
