7-star Zesco send Nkana warning shots

Share

Zesco sent Nkana warning shots today after dispatching Lime Hotspurs back to Division 1 North via a resounding 7-1 home win at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The win saw second placed Zesco cut Nkana’s once unquestionable seven-point lead to four points with three games left to play.

Zesco’s win also setup major showdown against Nkana this Saturday when they clash at Nkana Stadium in a turning point fixture in the race for the title.

Meanwhile, midfielder Maybin Mwaba inspired Zesco to victory with a hat trick.

Defender Dauti Musekwa out Zesco ahead in the 11th minute from the penalty spot before Mwaba made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.

Lameck Kamfwa scored Lime’s consolation goal in the 30th minute but Zesco extended their lead in the 44th minute through striker Winston Kalengo.

Simon Silwimba was on target in the 47th and two minutes later, Mwaba made it 4-0.

Zesco striker Akakulubewla Machaiba scored goal number six in the 63rd minute before Mwaba completed his hat trick in the 80th minute.

The win sees Zesco move two points clear of third placed Nchanga Rangers who could only muster a scoreless draw away at Kabwe Warriors in hosts’ coach Kampamba’s debut.

And Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Tennant Chilumba made it nine games in a roll without a defeat at Power Dynamos when his side thumped Konkola Mine Police 5-0.

A Graven Chitalu brace, plus goals each from Kennedy Mudenda, Martin Phiri and Venacious Mapande secured Power the three points.

    • But you see , zesco will not beat NKANA on Saturday ! I hear they just fixed the Lime game coz Lime have nothing to fight for ! They were already demoted even before that game !

  1. We know you bought this game if you say no ask Justin Mumba and Levy Chabala what they were doing at Henry Makulu at 2200hrs day before game together

    • BISHOP NCEE@3 what were you doing at Henry Makulu at 22:00hrs yourself? accept that pressure is mounting on your beloved Nkana, prepare for more pressure come weekend and the FAZ vedict is in Konkola’s favour.

  2. Match fixing in Zambia towards the end of the league is pathetic. All of a sudden ZESCO a winning 7-1 only a few weeks ago they where losing to the likes of Konkola Mines Police

    • @kalunga! what happened at Arthur Davies stadium was pathetic. the gallant mine police FC players were flashed with two red cards and five yellows. whilst the four of the goals scored were clear power’s foul plays such as offside and infringements on mine cops F.C players in the eighteen area. And to you MUFULIRA REF and your assistants called linemen, who officiated the match, you are Dem !D!OTs BAF1KA1A,… Money can buy anything but not life. THE GALLANT KOPALA COPS 4 LIFE…KONKOLA MINE POLICE F.C, WITH YOU IN DEFEAT OR IN VICTORY..

  3. Mwebantu twafweniko naifwe ba Mighty. Roan, Nchanga, Nkana and Konkola are all Mine Sponsored teams and are now doing well. Why not Mighty Mufulira wanderers? Kwati teifwe twapangile Kalusha sure!!

    • I feel for Mighty ! One lesson you can learn from us Nkana supporters is that we supported the team during the Div one days ! I actually mean financial , material and moral support through active supporters clubs ! So my first peace of advice is to start by forming strong supporters clubs ! Proudly wear your green and white scarves even in the low times ! START TODAY !

  4. How about Power’s 5-0! and two players for mine police sent off?but am not surprised, Lime not long ago lost 6-1 to Red Arrows at Nkoloma in the early fixtures of two seasons ago, they are very generous, but Zesco has been scoring goals, remember at some point they where posting 4-0 scorelines, Green Buffaloes 3-1, Nkana 3-1, Forest 4-0,Mine Police 4-0, Kalulushi Modern Stars so they have shown that consistently that they can score goals, even their statistics in the league table shows that they are highest scorers. So you are surprised when they wire Lime a team that has conceeded the most.Look at their strikers: Lottie Phiri,Jackson Mwanza,Winston Kalengo,Patrick Kabamba, Chakwa Lungu,Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba,Alfred Luputa.Show me a team in the league that can boost that number of attackers

  5. oh Power 90 go power go. I will go for a holiday at mfuwe lodge if Nkana bottles this one, come on you ZESCO UTD beat the devil for me and you mr. FAZ award the 3 points to Konkola blades, that would be sweet.

  6. Nkana just need to beat Zesco and the league is there’s.Three points from Zesco and lose the other two games will guarantee Nkana the League. So to me,Saturday’s game against Zesco is the final for the two top teams. How interesting it would be to watch this match.

    • Youngman !
Do you what you are talking about….
What is so special with Nkana,,,,,,HOLIGANISM !!!!
We will Wallop Nkana this weekend…
      Zega MAMBOOOOO 4 LIFE

  7. Zesco will never beat Nkana at home ground come Saturday for the game between Mine Police and Power I think there’s need for the referees to be fair with officiating of games because there’s no way u can give 2 red cards to the team and u expect them win, football ni 11/11 e bola.

  8. Time has finally come for Nkana to finish what they promised every Zambian soccer loving supporter. It shows some maturity for a league to end actively. thanks Nkana for putting Zambian Football back to where it is supposed to be.

  9. KALAMPA IS LIKELY TO LIFT THE LEAGUE TITLE THIS YEAR NO MATTER WHAT. I DONT THINK THEY CAN LOSE ALL REMAINING THREE GAMES. YES ZESCO HAS COMPLICATED MATTERS BUT THAT IS HOW THE LEAGUE IS SUPPOSED TO BE VERY COMPETITIVE AND THEN THIS WILL SEE ZAMBIA HAVING A STRONG NATIONAL TEAM.
