The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says it is unpatriotic for the organisation to encourage nurses to go on strike.

And the ZCTU has denied the escalating allegations that it helped in fuelling the recent strike action taken by the nurses.

ZCTU Secretary General, Roy Mwaba ,said in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today that his organisation recognises the important role nurses play in the provision of quality health care.

Mr Mwaba said the ZCTU could not encourage nurses to go on strike and deny members of society the much-needed health services.

He said the ZCTU had at various points tried to break the impasses between the nurses and government, adding that the ZCTU cannot support any strike action taken by the nurses.

    • ” Ukamwebe minister Kasonde ati akaisanga cannula ku casualty.Tukamutunga nayo ku brain !” Shouted one nurse in front of muvi Tv cameras as she kept on dancing at the same time.

    • Ba Roy you are behaving just like your pay master PF. Flip floping ,is not going to help in this situation. Be decisive and stand by what you said. If you can’t do that then you are a coward not worthy of a union leader.

I urge Zambian workers to get rid of this minion and select strong people instead to help them win their battles against a corrupt and selfish PF regime.

    • Who cares those nurses are what is wrong with Zambian working force, good women but I wouldn’t want any of them to touch me when I am sick.

      Thanks

    • Shame on you Shamenda. Why demonise private citizens who seek medical help from foreign countries when your PF regime has run down the health sector . Instead you and your fellow PF regime members should be ashamed for running down the health sector and then run to foreign countries to seek medical help. Its a pity that a deputy minister of health died while rushing to seek medical help in a foreign land.
If PF was a good and hard working government as some PF zealots would like us to believe, then they should have improved the working conditions of health workers , equipped our hospitals with highly specialist doctors and equipment so that politicians do not have to run to foreign hospitals for treatment.
The nurses and doctors you fire at home are the same nurses treating in SA.

    • Here in the UK the PM or any politician do not run to foreign countries for treatment because they retain and recruit the best medical personnel from all over the globe by paying them well above the politicians. Specialised doctors get more than the prime minister. And specialised nurses get almost what MPs get. Not only that, medical treatment at the point of delivery is free. This is what I expect from a sane , honest and hard working government.

All these achievements did not come cheap. The medical personnel fought running battles with various governments until one good government listened and implemented what was a best health system in the world. These days medical personnel don’t have to go on strike because the government ensures that health workers are well paid and motivated.

    • FIRST ASK TONDERAI TANDE TO PAY BACK HIS DEBTS. TONDERAI TANDE IS NEEDED BY COPPERBELT POLICE FOR FRAUD AND AGGRAVATED ROBBERY!

    • The dilemma for PF politicians is ;the same nurses they sucked will be the ones treating them in foreign countries like Uk and South Africa.

    • I have continued asking good employers in Zambia to remove these ghosts from offices. Workers employed these Roy and the group, and even all politicians including the The President by voting them into office. We are their masters and not the other way round as indicated.
They feed on our salary’s monthly deductions and tax.
Now they have guts to call us st.u.pi.ds houseboys and girls……NONONONONONO.

      No vote from me.

  1. BA MWABA YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND YOUR OWN ENGLISH. YOU WERE SIMPLY ENCOURAGE NURSES TO GO ON STRIKE. YOU ARE FAILING TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE GOVT AND USING NURSES TO DO YOUR JOB BY SENDING THEM TO STRIKE. YOU ARE VERY DULL.

  2. This primary school teacher has outlived his usefulness in this union. He should try to use his position to advise his nurses to make sure that next time they will decide to go on strike the law will be on their side and not incidences of singing acapella groups and dance troupes at UTH and not forgetting a bunch of union officials begging them to return to work in the background.

  10. Very useless and dull unionist….a coward for that matter. Yesterday he was barking that he would fight GRZ for firing innocent nurses but today Mwaba has changed his stance to ” Not supporting the illegal strike of Nurses”…is Mwaba normal?? I doubt and I am quick to conclude that its him who was encouraging them but now he has left them alone. You see nurses we told you not to listen to selfish people like Mwaba who eat with both hands. Remove Hikaumba and Mwaba for they have reached expiry date.

Peace and Prosperity to mother Zambia.

  11. Mr Mwaba said the ZCTU could not encourage nurses to go on strike and deny members of society the much-needed health services.

Mwaba, stop troubling yourself, it is Shamenda who is depriving the citizens of this country the much needed quality health services by firing the nurses.

  12. Eya lelo ba nurse…What have you achieved? You are jobless like many others. You will really feel it after two months without pay….You will wish you had not behaved the way you did. Lessons to be learnt. Learning the hard way! Nobody can mess up with the Govt. of the day. Good work PF…keep it up.

  13. What are these nurses braging about, from what I know nurses are like spaner boys of a mechanic let them nurse patients they were nt forced in that ministry infact most of them corrupt principals for them to be accepted for training or use their bottom power(item) Shamenda basalapule beshibe.
