SOUTHERN Province Patriotic Front (PF) chairperson, Daniel Munkombwe, has urged some senior party members not to overrate themselves through individual popularity but help President Michael Sata to develop the country.

Mr Munkombwe said individual popularity being championed by some party officials owing to their financial muscles should not be used to promote their hidden political agendas.

He said in Choma yesterday when he opened a one-day PF provincial executive meeting that, some politicians had failed to form formidable parties because of self-centredness.

“As senior party members, your mandate is to protect the ruling party and you shouldn’t overrate yourselves because of your individual popularity to promote individual hidden agendas,’” he said.

Mr Munkombwe, who is also Provincial Minister, said a number of political parties had been created by individuals in the country to gain selfish motives with no regard for people.

He called for a unity of purpose among PF members and urged them to help President Sata in his quest to successfully implement various national developmental projects being carried out.

“PF currently is the best party which can’t be compared to individual popularity of some party officials. What we need, is to unite and help our President to foster national development,” he said.

Mr Munkombwe urged party members in the province to remain focused, work hard and explore effective party mobilisation structures to recruit new other members.

He directed the members to explain tangible PF policies contained in the party manifesto to the people particularly in the province perceived as an opposition stronghold area.

He said Mr Sata’s developmental agenda was thriving well in improving the living standards of people because many projects had created numerous employment opportunities.

The provincial executive meeting which was attended by several senior party officials, was aimed at discussing various issues to strengthen the party in the province.

  1. Even Honorable Mukombwe has joined in castigating the senior PF leadership. I thought the PF problems were just teething problems. They are deeper than we thought. Baane, do a postmortem and come to terms quickly. Know that you cant all be leaders at the same time. Your squabbles aren’t doing us good. they erode confidence.

    • Mr munkombwe, is this not the same old man how was watching tom and jerry on a plasma TV at his office.. .. what self-centredness is he talking about which he can used public funds to purchase a plasma TV and DSTV decoder for his `office use`???

  2. Kamimba campaingn. mukombwe jst came out in the open and say we are laying structures 4 Kamimba this is what the meeting was all about and again you are tryn decampaing chikabwili and Chi GBM

    • Well it seems the conference took place in the bus(as per photo).I have never understood why they always dig in the archives for old photoes to tag in their reports. It is better to just report without one than put outdated photoes.Modern Journalism? As for the old man, remember you are on record stating that all go into politics to gain,so are your political intentions any better than the ones you are pointing fingers at?Unless you have altered your primary view of joining modern zambian politics, you still remain birds of a feather with those you condemn.

  3. ‘ we all join politics to EAT ‘ said Daniel Munkombwe. And to continue to EAT one must continue to sign praises to the Head of State to appear relevant otherwise…..

  4. Bwana Daniel Munkombwe must be strongly advised that, this time around, he is a member of the PF system where independent thinking is strictly prohibited. Only the PF President has the sole wisdom to think on behalf of his Ministers – including the Republican PF Vice-President.

If Ba Tata Ba Daniel starts revealing signs of independent thinking, Ba Tata runs the risk of being fired, considering that he is one of the endangered persons originating from outside Northern and Muchinga provinces. This year will be full of interesting events. AMEN!
