Evans Kangwa blasts Cranes out of the sky

Share

Evans Kangwa came off the bench to score a brace and hand Patrice Beaumelle his first home win.

The match was marred by two Zambian casualties in the opening 30 minutes of the match with the major highlight being Kennedy Mweene who was knocked out cold in the 13th minute and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Mweene was replaced by Joshua Titima.

Striker Rodger Kola too fell victim of Uganda’s excessive physical force and limped off in the 29th minute.

Meanwhile, Zambia rallied from 1-0 down after Uganda had taken a 54th minute lead through Hamiz Kiiza who back-heeled the ball past Joshua Titima.

Kangwa found the target in the 64th and 76th minute to hand Zambia a hard fought for win over Uganda who never gave them any respect.

  1. Was this some friendly game or what?
The information in the article is not very clear, one wonders where this game was played, whether in Nkana, Chifubu or Chelstone.
Away from the drama in the article, congrats ba Zambia for that win, I hope it gives the team a huge boost in the games to come.

    • @The Picked One, the game was played in Zambia on ash-Wednesday. The way they played it was not friendly at all; some knocked out, and some had to FIGHT hard to score, and blast Uganda to the sky.
It was like Sata vs Joseph Kony.

  2. Uganda (cranes) have always been our whipping boys since time immemorial. We need meaningful friendlies like Zam v Cam, Nig, Tun, Mor, Egy, Gha, Ivory Coast and the like – the cream of African football.

  3. IVORY COAST have squashed the Red Devils world cup friendlies on home soil! Brasil will be Hot!!!!!!!!! Am supporting African countries anyway!

  4. I HOPE MWEENE RECOVERS QUICKLY , WELDONE KANGWA BUT WHY YOU DID NOT SCORE FOR YOUR CLUB ZESCO IN MOZAMBIQUE? BAULENI MUST LEARN TO WIN BY WIDE MARGINS, THE RETURN LEG IN KAMPALA WILL BE TOUGH, WE HAVE PUT OURSELVES IN A TOUGH POSITION FOR AFCON 2015 QUALIFICATION COS. CRANES

  5. Kangwa plays for Nkana!

And he wont play in the second leg against KCCA, as he isn’t registered for the tournament!

I have always been crying for Evans Kangwa to be in the national team, but Herve just never got around it…..

  6. ZAMBIA IS A COUNTRY WHERE YOU CANT WATCH A FRIENDLY MATCH PLAYED WITHIN THE COUNTRY. I MEAN THE ONLY TIME TO WATCH ZNBC WHILE PAYING TV LEVY AND HEAVY TAXES AS THE REST IS FORCED POLITICAL NEWS WHOSE HEADLINES START THE SAME.

  7. @ Anyoka, hahahahaha, what you talking about, i used to sympathise when pipo are trying to hit you, but you are slowly convincing me you either have little or no brains, or you comment on things you literally do not understand.
Having said that, i think our strikers are off their boots, Kangwa and Sate Sate are the 1ns proving to be game, Moses Phiri is equally good, but he need to put in more pressure.. Coming to the midfield, we have some of the best mids in Zed so far, thats the only place i see much competition in our National team, We have the likes of Mukuka Mulenga, Rainford Kalaba, Bruce Musakanya The Situmbeko boy Chisamba Lungu just to mention a few.. our mid is so enterprising we just need more hungry strikers like Evans and Ronald.

  8. i too fail to get the winner. Uganda1 and Zambia 0. so how did Evans blast Cranes out of the sky. How many goals did Zambia score?

  9. As a football lover i dearly congratulate the chipolopolo boys for the job well done.We have started 2014 on a brighter note i hope this will continue. Many thanx to the goal getter ba kangwa.

  10. We need strikers like kangwa and sate sate not the type of mayuka who have not scored for over ten games for zambia now. Ba katongo equally is finished why puting them in the team for 90 minutes?
Kalaba should only be distributing the balls to the strikers cos his shooting is so bad cos of bamuka bene in drc.

  11. zed needs to start introducing fresh legs now to work hand in hand with
our supper chipolopolo boys then the future will be ours

  12. Zambia 11 should include E Kangwa and Sate Sate, noti Mayuka naba Kola please. Mr coach but why did you put a midfielder ku left back??? Are a borther to Moyes?? As i watched the game i can say the best players are Chisamba Lungu, Sunzu, Sinkala, Titima, Nkausu, Chris wasnt bad yesterday he almost scored had it not been for that fine save by Onyango… Please Mayuka and Kola wont take Zambia anywhere… Jacob yes though injury prone

  13. bola pa 15 march 2014,the coach should start watching local football ,if the coach had watched the charity shield both semi finals and the final ,I think he wont be having problems selecting the right players for our national team. local league starts pa 15 march, nkana vs green eagles ku choma.

  14. it was a good tough friendly. though Uganda took it personal, they really wanted to beat Zambia but they failed, hence they were so rough esp their number 5. mayuka is a miss for me, but we have sunzu, kangwa, mbola, sinkala etc. bronson is too heavy at the back thre and could not partner well with sunzu. whats up with himonde…game time and fitess I guess. otherwise congrats to the boys for the hard win. sorry I forgot ba Chris was not bad really he was better this time. we need him as a leader also.

  15. Go Zambia go! Evans and Sate Sate in front, Musakanya, Fwayo, Kalaba, Nathan, Chisamba, Sitali, Kabwe, Situmbeko, Mtonga, Mudenda, Mulenga, Kalume in midfield.

  16. Go Zambia go! Evans and Sate Sate in front, Musakanya, Fwayo, Kalaba, Nathan, Chisamba, Sitali, Kabwe, Situmbeko, Mtonga, Mudenda, Mulenga, Kalume in midfield.
