Mealie meal prices in Mufumbwe District of North Western Province have reduced by about K9 to trade at about K85 per 25 kg breakfast bag.

The reduction is attributed to the opening up of a fuel pump station in Mufumbwe to address transport-related costs in the district.

Mealie meal prices, which were last month going at an average of K95 per 25kg bag, are this month going at an average of K87 per 25 kg breakfast bag in most shops in the district.

  1. We used to buy this stuff at K38 before the PFulls lied their way into office! And now its news headline that the same stuff now costs K85 in Mufumbwe! What a reduction!

    • The man who grows maize out there in the bush is given only K30 for his produce mainly because you people want to feed the unproductive voter roaming the street. The poor man cant’ even send his kid to school.

Meanwhile the maan being subsidized in some cases is one in Kabulonga or Parklands who can even afford 10 six packs per week…and more so the Congolese who can buy 20 bags cheaply.

Village people have never known subsidies so for who is it?

What a nation? Unfortunate I cant resign being a Zambian.

  2. So what difference is there when people still buy UBUNGA at more than a K50 bane?
PF bikeniko amano bane..not every Zambian Survive on Tax payers free fuel,Housing and huge allowances

    • Kazembe wa Lunda have you ever known what it means to grow maize? Why do think Maize is so cheap?

Did you know that the people who grow maize cant even send their kids to school because maize is political and is eaten for votes?

Next time please dont use that energy in the gymn or operating a remote in front of a TV. Go out there and grow something. Learn from Uganda and Rwanda.

Zambians ba Kalyafye for their votes.

  3. How the hell did we get where we are? August 2011 we used to buy mealie meal at K32, what the hell is PF doing to this country?

  4. Well, I am wordless. We have abundant land for farming; we have abundant rainfall year in and year out; we have abundant human resource but we can not still grow enough maize to feed ourselves and as such mealie meal prices are ever escalating. Seriously I feel pity for those people who call Zambia a “great” nation.

  5. Zambians are used to spoon feeding, they expect govt to even dig pit latrines for them. I agree with meme teacher, until our poor attitude to work changes no govt will be appreciated. KK even tried to give mealie meal for free, it didn’t work they still complained these lazy men. All they want is fast money without any input, in short stealing whenever chance allows. Shameless and lazy creatures always blaming govt this govt that. When are you going to do something for yourself? Stop wasting time blogging, 24/7 on every topic you arm chair critics.

  6. So… how does those living below a Dollar per day manage to survive? Can this Government do something about this. Zambians Start eating something else so that you devalue this starch!

  7. WHAT IS MEALIEMEAL? i cant find this word in the dictionary? anyway it seems from the story that its some stuff originally fed to animals as feed but adopted by people due to poverty
