MMD president Nevers Mumba says he has instructed his lawyers to sue the Post Newspapers for allegedly publishing false news about him.
Reacting to today’s lead story in the Newspaper suggesting that he has been living a flamboyant life style a move which has forced some of the MMD members of parliament to withdraw their financial support to the party, Dr. Mumba told QFM News in an interview that the allegations are false and baseless.
He said he does not and has never gotten any monies’ from MMD members of parliament to sustain his living.
Dr Mumba explained that he has since instructed his lawyers to sue the Post Newspapers for publishing what he has described as a false story which has the potential to discredit his integrity.
The MMD president said he wants those with information about him getting money from MMD members of parliament to come out in the open and prove their allegations in court.

Sorry Fred, we alrerady know about your scheme to have Nevers booted out as MMD president and replace him with Mulusa, a person who is only known for his good english he writes. If thats true, they tried this scheme some time last year, but it never worked as one Kachingwe was taken by air.
I personally do not care what happens to leadership change in MMD. This will only help us in UPND to consolidate our gains in Eastern provinces , CB , Northern, Luapula and Muchinga provinces. In all the other provinces UPND will walk over PF and the remnant MMD with ease.
The scheme to replace Dr Mumba is a brilliant one. I well come it with both hands as it will make thousands of MMD supporters to join UPND the winning team.

Get the tape recorders running. Nowadays it is not easy to sue successfully; someone was quoted correctly… the suing might just have to widened at this rate.
It’s your constitutional right to sue, but if The Post are able to justify their allegations, then brace yourself for a huge legal bill but all for nothing!

Libel is actionable per se. And there are precedents, Sata v The Post Newspapers and Sata v Chanda Chimba III and others. It’s good to include all the facts in your articles. Why not refer to the story in the Post which gives a breakdown of Mumba’s proposed personal emoluments? There is a letter dated 7 August, which the Post has seen, outlining his proposed K62,200 monthly expenditure funded by the direct deduction of K2,500 from MMD MP’s allowances.
