Police have hounded out UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and his entourage from Mambwe District in eastern province where they had gone for a series of rallies.
UPND vice Dr. Canisius Banda who is part of the entourage has confirmed the development to QFM News in a telephone interview.
Dr Banda says they were trailed Police and hounded out of Mambwe District armed police officers this afternoon.
Dr. Banda has further disclosed that earlier in the day, Police tear gassed and assaulted hundreds of innocent citizens with one person sustaining a broken collar bone at a UPND party official’s residence whom they had gone to visit.
And UPND Deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba says the party has instructed its members to always arm themselves against the Police whenever they are attending public gatherings.
Mr Simusamba says this follows today’s incident in Mambwe district in Eastern province where UPND members were brutalized by Police.
And Mr. Simusamba says UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s tour will continue whether the Police like it or not.

Good move Sata and Jere have just increased HH ‘s popularity and campaigned for UPND and HH in Eastern province. All the Easterners who did not know UPND and HH will now be talking about him and UPND.

I do not allude to such stupidity as you may already know. If the fact that there are still court cases pending in those areas holds then why did the president and his minister go there and campaign.
These actions by Sata and Jere are simply a recipe for anarchy in the country.In a way thanks to their stupidity, UPND and HH will from now on be the talk of the Eastern province and the whole country. Jere and Sata ‘s actions will arouse a lot of curiosity amongst Zambians as why HH has become such a big threat to PF political machinery.

Police stance is irrelevant. What counts, it is rule of law. And in so far, arbitrary and biased application of law by police justify civil disobedience. ZP should comply with the laws without assuming powers which are prerogative of different institutions, i.e. Courts and ECZ.
News from the Grape Vine says the police even used live bullets to scare away HH and his entourage from Mambwe.
Sata’s fate is seriously pending for him in Kasama in the same way that legal pronouncements are pending against MPs for Malambo, Petauke Central and a constituency in Southern Province. Recent Local Govt elections in Chililabombwe and Parliamentary elections in Katuba may trigger a lethal heart attack and induce a multiple physiological ailments one fake African leader in Southern Africa. Any draconian and oppressive laws that limit freedoms of association and free speech are meant to be broken end off. Just by their very design and nature such laws like POA will continue to be defied and the state will continue to prosecute us and then enter nolle prosequi and in the process waste a lot of money.

Dear President Sata
Greetings Your Excellency.
You are the Commander-in-Chief of Zambia’s Armed Forces. You have the exclusive legitimate right to the use of force and as you stated when addressing the Barotse issue, everyone is weak compared to your forces. And yet Sir, you need to uphold the constitution and fundamental human rights enshrined therein.
It is easy to beat the opposition into submission like Mobuto Seseseko, Mugabe, Kagame and other dictators did or are doing. But Your Excellency you cannot beat the opposition into oblivion as KK, Kamuzu Banda and White apartheid SA regime can attest.
Your Excellency allow freedom of assembly and speech. It is the lifeblood of a vibrant and prosperous nation.
