CSO challenged to clear the air on job figures in the face of contrasting numbers from Government

Share

The Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) has challenged the Central Statistical Office (CSO) to help tell the nation the exact number of jobs the PF government has created since coming to power in 2011.

ZFE Executive Director, Harrington Chibanda, has told QFM News in a telephone interview that there is need for government to give the exact numbers of jobs that have been created rather than giving contradicting figures.

Mr. Chibanda states that there is also need for government to state clearly what kind of jobs have created whether temporal or descent ones.

He says it is not enough to merely state that so many jobs have been created in the road construction sector considering that road construction jobs are not permanent jobs.

Mr Chibanda notes that there are too many contradicting statements coming from government officials claiming that so many quality jobs have been created without proof.

Mr. Chibanda says it is therefore, necessary and important that the Central Statistical Office clears the air by telling the nation how many jobs the PF has actually created.

  1. A liar should have a good memory in order to remember the past lies and maintain consistence. The PF govt does not have a good memory, and this the result.

On the other hand an honest person does not need to have a long memory, he/she simply sticks to the truth, and consistence follows like a shadow.

    • Thanks to nature a lair can never have a good memory. PF has a poor memory, look how Sata fought Levy only to build all there policies around the vision 2030, because they have no vision at all.

  2. Every job is decent. I hope dexent is not what u define permanent? However we need stable figures and not those bubbles being shot in the sky.

  3. ZFE are actually largest private sector employers. As a federation they should know exactly how their members are performing as CSO gets figures from them anyway. What figures does Chibanda have at his table? Let him use his data to challenge CSO or govt. for that matter …

    • You are missingthe point. They obviously have the figures that dont agree with government and they now want official position. You will have noticed by now the contradictions from the useless ministers.

    • Possibly they do Mailon but all the time one has to back their statement with figures so that new comers on the debate are in sync! There is little point for ZFE to say they already shared. Any web reference for their report … ?

  4. Last time we were told 600,000 have been created, last week one minister said it is 300,000 and the confirmed figure from the ZWD as per CSO report is 61,000.We therefore await an official confirmation from CSO.

  5. AGRICULTURE ONLY WE CREATED ABOUT 310 000 JOBS’TOURISM 420-000 JOBS MINES 260-000 HOME AFFAIRS 300-000 OFFICERS
