MMD gives Mbala MP 21 days ultimatum to report to PEC or face expulsion

Share

The opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in Northern Province has accused Mbala Member of Parliament Mwalumu Simfukwe of neglecting his constituency.

MMD Information Publicity Secretary Cephas Bwalya said the party is concerned with Mr Simfukwe’s absence as has not visited his constituency in a long time.

In a press release to ZANIS in Kasama today, Mr Bwalya said the party has received a lot of complaints from the people of Mbala on the non-availability of their elected representative to address their needs.

He stated that despite the MMD Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) making follow ups on the absence of the law maker, no favourable response has been gotten.

Mr Bwalya has since warned party members especially serving MPs not to take the MMD for granted just because it was in the opposition.

He has since appealed to the people of Mbala to keep calm as the leadership was addressing the matter.

He has also called on party members to begin preparations for the 2016 general elections.

Mr Bwalya has since given Mr Simfukwe 21 days in which to address the issue failure to which the provincial leadership will recommend for his expulsion on grounds of failing to perform party duties.

Efforts to get a comment from Mr Simfukwe proved futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.

The ruling PF petitioned the Mbala Central seat two years ago and the matter is still awaiting determination before the High Court.

  1. Just do away with him and call for a by-election but for your own information that side is Pf’s stronghold……………..

  2. Mbala is really in a mess, the district is dirty and lacks development. I was there last week and I visited my former school mbala secondary school. The school is in its deplorable state and the Head teacher of that school must be as dirty as it is.
Generally the District looks very dirty such that mpulungu looks much better than mbala. The area MP must be expelled indeed.

    • Where are councillors? Cleaning the town is not the responsibility of an MP. It is for the council whose elected officers are councillors.

    • @The Witness – I am not sure it is any particular person’s fault. The entire country lacks the sense of maintenance. If it were not for donors even soakaways would become flood dragnets! I am watching the much talked about infrastructure development and personal homes being constructed but I fear for the very near future when all the occupants want to do is LIVE in or WORK out of those structures. We will soon be begging donors (who, by the way, are other countries’ tax payers) to help fix pipes and roofs for us! Sometimes I feel ashamed to be called a Zambian…

  3. So the chap is AWOL and you give him more time to clown around in Lusaka? Suspend him immediately! These are the kind of characters Zambia does not need. Has anyone ever heard Mwalimu say anything in Parliament? I certainly haven’t so what’s the point of having him there? Luf0n0!

    • He is just doing what the president Sata does best. Its the latest crazy in Zambian politics. Hibernation is now trending in zed hey.

  4. lusakatimes should also clean is house by removing upnd paid up cadres making coments daily on their sight.eg wanzelu and the team.

  5. MBALA MP AND NAKONDE MP HAVE BOTH FORGOTTERN THEIE AREA.

I WISH ALSO TO REMIND THE TWO MPS FOR MBALA AND NAKONDE THAT THEY HAVE FAILEDTO PUT THEIR HEADS TOGETHER TO ENSURE THAT MBALA – NAKONDE ROAD IS TARRED. I RECENTLY PASSED THAT ROAD ITS ALL GONE. WITH THE RAINS ABOUT TO COME I DONT KNOW HOW OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ARE GOING TO DO BUSINESS BETWEEN NAKONDE – MBALA. GENTLEMEN ENSURE THAT THAT ROAD IS TARRED NOW NOT TOMORROW?

  6. Mbala MP (Mwalimu Simfukwe) is the most useless MP Mbala has ever had. He has literary gone into hiding soon after being voted into office. He is what I would call an educated fool without any knowledge. Mbala has so many problems that require his attention as a representative but he is busy in Lusaka just waiting for his gratuity. The district leadership is also incompetent starting with a big headed DC down to the thieving TC. Mbala needs a change of leadership and any serious political party can win that seat if they field a local candidate who can inspire the women and youths. Please get started now!

    • Iwe don’t write like a penguin. It is LITERALLY and not LITERARY! Stationery is NOT Stationary either – in case you were thinking of using those two words…

  7. You people mwalimu belongs to that give that only knew how to loot and not putting the grassroot first.his companion leadership was in power for decades what did you see in terms of development? So guys, lets just counsel him that MMD days are over we are now in OF in case you don’t a comprise your mission, then drop.dead.

  8. Mbala doesn’t need new leadership. It needs a new population. Actually most Zambian settlements need new mindsets. No amount of leadership change will change anything if all we think of is anointing then sitting back. Eish! Akwa!

  9. Bye Elections soon please!! Not acceptable that he is allowed to continue. Further more MP should have all his pay to date reimbursed to the state. There is no free lunch, while the poor cry out.
