Nkana target Barclays Cup

Nkana captain Sydney Kalume says winning the Barclays Cup will console the club after failing to defend the FAZ Super League.

Nkana will face Zesco United in the 22 November Barclays Cup final to be played at a venue yet to be announced.

Kalume said winning the Barclays Cup will be a consolation for Nkana following their flopped league title defence.

“We cannot win the league this season so our focus is to win the Barclays Cup,” he said.

Kalume said Nkana wants to end Zesco’s dominance over them in the last ten years.

“Zesco has been beating us but this will be a different game,” the midfielder said.

“Now we are going to fight hard until we beat Zesco. We are going to work hard.”

Meanwhile, Kalume is targeting is third Barclays Cup winner’s medal having won the competition twice during his days at Zesco.

“I just want to get the Barclays Cup because when we win as Nkana this will be my third,” he said.
