Embattled Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) president, Nevers Mumba, has promised to finish all the projects and programmes that late republican President, Michael Sata, left if voted into power on January 20, 2015 during the presidential by –election.

Addressing a rally in Chinsali this afternoon, Dr Mumba said he was making a public announcement that projects such as the two universities, roads and many others the late President Sata had embarked on in the province will be completed if only he is voted into office.

Dr Mumba said he was hopeful that people of Chinsali will vote for him during the January 20, 2015 Presidential by-election because it will not be their first time to do so.

In an apparent reference to Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Dr Mumba said people of Chinsali should vote for their own son from Bulimbo Village in Lubwa area during the presidential by-election.

And Dr Mumba said he did not come to Chinsali to launch his national campaign for the forthcoming presidential by – election slated for January 20, 2015 but to tell the people of Chinsali that the MMD has one party president in the name of Dr Mumba and one party constitution.

Dr Mumba also said people of Zambia rejected the MMD in 2011 and the party was abandoned and labelled as corrupt with people of no integrity and that when he took over he had to rebrand it and make it perfect.

He said no one can remove him from the party that he laboured so much to make it what it is today, adding that the MMD can only win the forth coming presidential by-election with him as its candidate.

Speaking at the same meeting, National Youth Chairman, Howard Kunda, called on the youths not to be used for violence but to vote for credible leaders who will look into their interests.

Dr Mumba, who arrived in Chinsali this morning aboard a chartered 8-seater aircraft, is accompanied by party national treasure, Mwansa Mbulakulima, National Youth Chairman, Howard Kunda, chairperson for culture chairperson, Elizabeth Chitika and national trustee Peter Machungwa.

He was received on arrival at the air strip by Muchinga chairperson, Jonas Bowa and his Northern Province counterpart, Stephen Mukuka among several other senior party officials.

The MMD recently announced the suspension of party president, Nevers Mumba, for alleged gross indiscipline.
The party also announced the adoption of former republican President, Rupiah Banda, as its preferred candidate in the forthcoming presidential by-election scheduled for January 20, 2015.

But Dr Mumba, who has since sought a court injunction, insists that he is rightful candidate to contest the election on MMD ticket.

The other camp of the opposition MMD has since nominated former president Rupiah Banda to stand on its ticket.

The opposition political party in Muchinga has declared to support Dr Mumba as the preferred candidate for the party in the forthcoming presidential by–election.

    • From a man of God to a comedian. What a parody No agenda, no certificate of adoption, doctrine of party, NEC or indeed a constituency. Zimbabwe’s Rev. Muzorewa was more serious and credible than our political parody in Nevers.

So this was the Chinsali campaign launch rally? Where are the pictures?

    • am sure NM and RB will fight one on one come the nominations day, RB should have stayed away he lefte the party after loosing, do you think hw will be party president if he loses again in 2015?, no, he only comes when its election times, greedy people we dont need in zed

    • Here is where the legitimate MMD party belongs, in the hands of the real party President- Dr Mumba. We have ba mama Elizabeth Chitika, ba Peter Machingwa, ba Mwansa Mbulakulima, future leader Howard Kunda and other believers of democracy, peace and the rule of law.

This is where real democrats are and the hope for Zambia. No one will ever believe in ba Bwezani Banda for the manner in which he capitalised on party divisions to force himself from the backdoor.

Who does he think trusts any of the outcasts that surround him-like Kaingu, mulusa, siliya and now back stabber Muhabi. Law is on Dr Mumba’s side. It’s not just politics, this is personal for all that have worked hard to build democracy in Zambia.

    • Nevers Mumba has now lost it completely. …he is busy campaigning for PF………so if he wants to complete PF ‘s projects. ..why should people vote PF out of office…in short he is asking Zambians to change the name PF to MMD

Yaba…ati opposition. ..and if he loses elections he will be complaining ati they were rigged. …

      Anyway

      2015 vote PF
      I thank you

    • If a person from any other tribe had said that people should vote for their own, he would be branded a tribalist. When a Bemba says it, it is not tribalism.

  1. Campaign 04 (Mumba) – takes a direct shot at Campaign 03 (Banda)

“people of Zambia rejected the MMD in 2011 and the party was abandoned and labelled as corrupt with people of no integrity and that when he took over he had to rebrand it and make it perfect”

The irony is that is could be considered the ‘perfect’ own goal for the other campaigns. Chuckle.

    • A Phiri anabwera
This is a perfect own goal…how do you campaign on oppositions projects. ..i don’t get it…….

Anyway that’s an easy away game for PF…no need to campaign. ..Nevers Mumba is doing the job

      2015 vote PF

      I thank you

  2. Dr. Mumba can be a better candidate for MMD than Rupiah Bwezan Banda. Rupiah Bwezani Banda is a big disgrace and a real failure in politics.

    • Many people ruin their lives by overestimating themselves. You and Nevers are such people. So far there is no value that Nevers has added to MMD – see results of bye-elections. There is nothing Nevers can do in this period of time. Use an established brand RB and prepare for 2016- that is called “strategy”. By being truant, Nevers has scored an own goal and subsequently, buried his political career.

    • Adviser well put it. Nevers has no strategy. In his recent article “A Perspective on Party Candidates, Part 2” Bwembya sanctimoniously nailed it all. He says,

“Besides, he doesn’t have a political constituency anywhere in Zambia to rally his ambitions on. UPND leader or indeed his party Guardians may find Nevers to have a zero marginal utility value to embrace if not considered unnecessary toxic liability to carry”

.”Had Dr. Mumba been patient and strategic, he could have built his prospects for 2016 on the back of RB starting now. Alas, he has missed it. Will not be surprised to see the general membership bringing in others”.

    • Surely old Rupiah, where was he when MMD was passing through dificult times? When did he apply for adoption as MMD Presidential Candidate?Did the NEC open applications to other interested individuals?.Rupiah will be stranded with his illegal Endorsement Certificate by shameless Muhabi and Chipungu.

  3. “In an apparent reference to Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Dr Mumba said people of Chinsali should vote for their own son from Bulimbo Village in Lubwa area during the presidential by-election.”

When Mumba utters such words,it is accepted

    What if HH said;
The people of Monze West should vote for their own son from Hachipona village, in Chief Hamusonde.

The bembas will scream ,HH is tribal.

    • Red Equare,

HH is a potential President while Nevers is nothing but a disillusioned and doomed clown leading a circus to nowhere.

HH like RB has base and following while Nevers has nothing but desperation. You may want to know that they rejected him for a parliamentary seat in Chinsali and has not even dug a simple pit latrine even just for his anti in his village.

    • Red Square some tribes are more equal than others; they never even bother to learn other people’s lingo, theirs is the best and should be known by everyone in Zambia. It is like they chose to be born from that tribe and some of us also chose to be born from perceived lesser tribes.

  4. now is dr kaingu telling the truth shame useless dr anyway we are not suprised mmd is dead party just like pf always telling lies see now you dont know what to tell people

  5. Mr R. Banda is a political failure and an opportunist. He is selfish, corrupt and greedy. He is also inept and incompetent. He cannot win an election. In 2008 he won the election on the promise to continue with the Mwanawasa Legacy. Once elected he betrayed the people’s trust. He turned to serving himself and his family. In 2011 the people of Zambia vomitted him. This time around he cannot win people’s confidence. Even within MMD, they do not trust him. MMD is split. Some MMD leaders have gone to support HH, others are with Mumba. Those who have remained with him are relatively new comers like him.

  6. There you are, Nevers Mumba for you, another Bemba tribalist carrying the “vision” of Michael Sata.

Best prospect for MMD is RB. Nevers has driven MMD into the ground, what re-branding has he done, losing all by elections is a sign of successful rebranding? That would be a new market definition of rebranding perhaps.

  7. Rupiah Banda is killing MMD. Northerners and Easterners now are fighting over control of MMD at a time when they needed each other. Other regions have now abandoned MMD as the wrangles continue, MMD will be split into two and eventually die come 2016. Rupiah Banda is the problem. You cannot take control of the party at the expense of killing it. In the end there is no gain. I doubt Rupiah can win the way MMD is divided now.

  8. ECZ should clean this mess up before it gets out of hand. There are rules to campaigning and contesting. As this is an internal issue Nevers should be challenged on which certificate and nomination he’s campaigning on, otherwise stop causing confusion. We know you want to destabilise the party by all means but you should learn to respect the party because leaders come and go and just because you have been sidelined does not mean taking the party with you. Your actions are childish and proof of why the Zambian people have always rejected you. Have you no shame?

  9. This to them is not tribalism unless it was HH who went to launch his campaign in Monze with Garry Nkombo, Mwetwa and Syakalima………..pa zed, untill that day pipo stop listening to that gay in bwijinfumu, no independent judgement will ever be exercised

    • There is no tribalism in one starting his campaign from his home town or village. They say charity begins at home. Its just that all you see and think is tribe. It is like your unit of measure is ‘ tribe. ‘ Wisen chimwi iwe

  10. RB will be remembered for starting all
    infrastructural development projects which Sata
    hijacked, renamed and later claimed.
Remember, Sata condemned these projects as an
opposition leader and insisted that what was
important was ‘more jobs, lower taxes and more
money in people’s pockets’. Once these
promises failed, he jumped on infrastructural
projects which he earlier condemned. We call it
playing on people’s minds, especially simple
    minds

  11. FLASH:
Rumour has it that Mushota died from fungal meningitis recently, an AIDS-related ailment.
A true Sata supporter. She has gone to join him.

  12. The writing is on the wall. Now we can rightly assume that both the Sata and Nevers Mumba got into the political arena in order to develop Chinsali. Chama, Isoka, Mafinga, Mpika, Nakonde districts are merely appendages of Sata’s and Mumba’s vision to develop Chinsali.

Since mining is a non-renewable industry destined to end at some point, a political leader worth his salt must strive to identify the agricultural potential of all the provinces of Zambia. A land-locked Zambia must compel government to extend a tarred road from Mwinilunga via Kalene to Ijhimbe to market agricultural produce to neighbouring countries. A caring Govt must extend the RB formula of standardising fuel prices and peg same standard maize meal prices to all parts of Zambia.

    • Iwe, what is wrong in developing Chinsali ?? Isn’t Choma being developed too ?? The reason PF will still carry the day is because Satas’ construction programs are visible THROUGH OUT the country. Even Gwembes’ bottom road , Kalabo road etc are being worked on. Get a life ba Chimbwi, nepotistic as Sata was, ( not tribalist ) he wanted to develop WHOLE Zambia. Even Shangombo was not left out.

  13. HH all the way, while the old folks are busy complaining he is busy winning the electorates. The game would have been Nevers vs HH. Luckily no unit in other camps. Sorry Nevers time to quit the game of politics.

  14. I dont lyk nevas koz of the way he got popularity thru the pulpit and used it 4 his political ambitions which r slowly failin,bt wud still choose him ova that old opportunist nicknamed shrek
