Two opposition political parties, independent Members of Parliament (MPs) and high profile individual politicians have thrown their weight behind UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema, ahead of the January 20, 2015 presidential by election.
The two opposition political parties are the Alliance for Development and Democracy (ADD), through its president, Charles Milupi and selected MMD Members of Parliament, led by Felix Mutati and independent MPs while high profiled politicians included former MMD Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Dipak Patel and Former Prime Minister Malimba Masheke in the UNIP government.
Speaking on behalf of the MMD and independent members of parliament, Lunte MMD MP, Felix Mutati, disclosed that the Members of Parliament decided to come together and choose a party that will unit Zambians and move the country forward hence the decision to support UPND.
He said Zambia needs a leadership that will help improve the welfare of the people and not investing in mere promises.
Mr Mutati stated that the UPND was a better party to deliver the development that will change the course of the nation.
He implored the UPND faithfuls to go out and encourage Zambians to turn out in large numbers on the 20th of January 2015.
Meanwhile, UPND President, Hakainde Hichilema, says the party has made head ways in PF strong holds.
Mr Hichilema cited the Copperbelt as one of the provinces that the party has penetrated.
He disclosed during the press conference in Lusaka today that he was overwhelmed with the reception he received during the tour of the Cooperbelt province.
And the UPND leader has implored ZNBC to give fair coverage to political parties participating in the presidential by election.
He explained that ZNBC is a public media which should encompass all political parties in its coverage.
Mr Hichilema said ZNBC should help people to make independent decision of which party they will support by giving coverage to all parties.
He implored the cooperation not to tolerate the behavour exhibited by Minister of Youth and Sport, Chishimba Kambwili last week when he stormed ZNBC newsroom and directed removal of opposition stories from the news bulletin and threatened journalists with dismisal.

Katondo, the problem is that your Lungu never came out publicly to condemn the violence and intimidation that was going on at the conference.
We expect the same attitude if by chance he was Zambia’s president and people that are opposing his views are harassed by his thugs.
However, we now have a golden opportunity to elect someone sober. Between HH and EL, I will choose HH a hundred times. And I am from E. province. The good news is that Eastern Province will be divided between RB and EL. This gives HH a good opportunity to scoop Western, Southern, North Western and Central. CB and Northern are warming up to HH. Lusaka is also a fertile ground.

Honestly the people of Zambia have little to worry about regardless of who wins the PF nomination. The only thing we are hoping for is that they select a candidate through a fair and transparent process. As a nation we are all hoping that they can still regroup and beome a viable organization after this and offer some constructive opposition. However this circus is threatening the very integrity of their existence. GBM, Sampa and unfortunately Kambwili have enough following in PF that if they left Lungu will be stranded. The rest are just hungry observers. We all know too that as GBM goes so does ABC and that my friends is PF.Kwasila Finish! !!

When it is time for change, no amount of lies can stop this course. PF you had your time and all you did was fighting and name calling. Your own leader informed the nation that he had useless people in his cabinet. Only one person stood out and said he was not useless, and this was no other than Kambwili. Who not long ago showed us what he is made of by picking up a useless fight with UNZA students over the Commonwealth buildings at UNZA. PF dochi kubeba song is not in fashion anymore for a reason, PF is dead and soon to be forgotten.
