Chief Nkolemfumu of the Bemba speaking people in Kasama has called on the electorates to vote for a credible leader in the forth-coming presidential election.
He said people should vote for a sound leader with the vision to develop Zambia.
Chief Nkulemfumu was speaking in an interview with ZANIS at his palace over the weekend.
He said electorates should not exchange their votes with material things, but vote for a leader who is going to unite the country.
The traditional leader appealed to politicians not to engage in character-assassination but conduct issue-based campaigns to woo votes.
He advised voters to attend campaign rallies for all aspiring candidates so that they can scrutinise them and make wise electoral decisions for the country.
Chief Nkolemfumu urged the youths to make informed decisions and not to be used to cause violence during campaigns.
He also cautioned traditional leaders not to engage themselves in active politics, adding that their role is merely advisory to all political players.
And -Police in Northern Province say they are geared to provide adequate security for the forthcoming presidential by-election.
Northern Province police commissioner, Charity Katanga, made the assurance during the police Annual Ball held at Lunzuwa Gardens in Kasama on Friday night.
Ms Katanga told the gathering that police officers in the province had a solemn duty to ensure law and order is upheld during the election.
She said police will not tolerate any violence from any political players.
The police regional chief appealed to politicians to uphold the Public Order Act during their campaigns.
Ms Katanga said police in the northern districts of the country have further been instructed to be firm but fair in administering the law during the elections.
This year’s Annual Ball, whose theme is, ‘Celebrating 50 years of Impartial and Transparency Policing’, was attended by several government officials, businessmen and senior police officers in the province.

Reading between the lines, the chief is simply saying dont vote for upnd
We don’t want an embarrassing situation of the chief asking HH at gun point to say chief Nkole mfumu did not endorse him .

Zambian is in trouble. When you have a country where people no longer care about leadership credentials of a President as long as that person hails from their region or a region that they are comfortable with, know that the country has no future. This is the condition that Zambia is in right now.

We all have visions. But do we really realize these visions? Kaunda had a vision for an egg for every Zambian every day, free education, healthcare, or simply free everything. All ex presidents (dead/alive)have made promises that they have not honored. Why are we still listening to these pathological liars? Okay, HH has made very good promises. Isn’t just right for him go a step further and tell us where he is going to get the money to fund these promises?
Just imagine how much could have been saved from Medical tourism of Sata, just imagine how much will be saved from bi elections once a good constitution is put in place. Just imagine how much would be saved from the presidential ni elections if there was a running mate. Just imagine how much more effective our foreign service would be if it was not full of relatives but professional commercial attachés, what about the money wasted through back door contracts at RDA, Just imagine a professional HH PRESIDENCY
just thinking…..HH wins the elections where will Charity Katanga be? i remember when she sent her police officers to beat UPND cadres and when the president MCS alighted from the plane he asked kali kwisa ka Charity and all he did was to greet her and that spoke volumes.
UPND is not a vengeful party.HH is God fearing and understands that these men in uniform were professionals who worked under a stupid,backward and violent government.The police service has seriously been compromised.
No one will lose her or his job.

What is a vision other than the manifesto of a party? PF has vision-manifesto, UPND has a vision- manifesto, MMD has may be two visions (RB & Nevers)-manifestos, Elias and Edith equally have visions- manifestos, so what are people talking about. The Bembas have saying known as amapinda. This is good advise to President Edgar Lungu that as he mounts his great rallies in this great part of Zambia, he must follow this guidance because those who have already been there are already rejected by the people.
It will be an opportunity to reaffirm his earlier statement that his vision is there but the focus NOW is to fulfill the PF programs instituted by the son Sata.
So far, we have not yet heard any vision from the opposition. Indeed amano yaba kulubemba!!!

These are the real Bembas that I know. The problem is with those that want to affiliate themselves to Bemba to cause confusion. The real Bemba are generous, Upright, Genuine and above focused.
