Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has handed over cheques worth K1 million to 40 youth clubs in the North Western province.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Solwezi yesterday, Mr Kambwili appealed to the beneficiaries to use the funds for the intended purpose.

The Minister told the youths that the funds were meant to empower them so that they can become responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to the development of their families and the nation at large.

He said government through his ministry will not tolerate the misuse of empowerment funds because it was tax payers’ money which must be paid back at all costs.

Mr Kamwbili said the prosecuting authorities will not hesitate to bring to book all those who use the money for other purposes.

And Mr Kambwili has lashed out at the Zambian Watchdog and other online publications that have accused the current government of only empowering PF cadres.

He has challenged the online media to substantiate their claims as government has been transparent in the selection of beneficiaries.

Mr Kambwili said neither him nor his ministry has ever taken part in the selection process but had instead entrusted the process to the respective technical committees.

Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili is disappointed with the selection of beneficiaries of youth empowerment programmes on the Copperbelt Province as the majority were drawn from Ndola and Kitwe leaving out youths from other districts.

Speaking in Ndola when he handed over cheques to youth clubs today, the Youth and Sports Minister said youths from all districts in the country must benefit from the youth empowerment funds in order to better their lives.

Mr Kambwili also urged all loan beneficiaries to pay back the money on time so that other youths could also benefit from the empowerment funds.

  1. Buying votes in broad daylight. wake uo Zedians please, get the money but dont vote for them after all the money belongs to you. It should have been used to develop your area.

    • Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili is a wild animal TESTICLE. What has he achieved so far in ZED or overseas? He’s just a LOCAL Political Ignorant BULLY. He gonna get choked very soon and his 16? neck will collapse.

    • Last time I checked Kambwili was on his way to to northern province to hand checques to youth clubs. Now he is in NW. How nice.

Why is PF following HH where ever he goes? Its supposed to be in Northern province last time I checked.

How come they have money for youth clubs and not for farmers?

Why didn’t he go to Eastern province to do the same? Easterners never got their money and know his lies so he has gone to new territory.

Any way he handing over promissory notes(post dated cheques) not hard cash and telling the youth to vote PF if they want their cheques to be converted into money.

My advice to the youth is chew the money and vote for HH. Why is that money released now during elections at the time some farmers have not been paid?

      This is PURE VOTE BUYING.

      Vote…

  2. Only in Zambia where a sports minister has never played and sport and is obese, a health minister is not health, a justice minister is not a lawyer

  3. Honourable Chimbwili, what you are doing is a panic driven effort to win the 20 January presidential election. However, remember that that is a Govt Programme which will continue even when the new model comes in after the election but in a civilised manner!

  4. After all most of these youths do not have voter’s cards in the PF regime under review & one wonders as to why this time? However, this is Zambia under PF whe re corruption is party of their fulfilments & electoral codes of conduct are never in existence. No accountability of tax payers’ monies & all vices of governance & they still want to cling on to power-very illiterate leaders.Anyway cretins, your time is up & definitely you really have to go.

  5. Saddenly in last month of the year there is plenty of cash to splash around. In Luapula cheques were also given out yesterday. This money will be difficult to account for because the activity seem to be done in a panic mode.

  6. Please fellow youths, lets use the funds properly. We should accept anything that we are given by the outgoing govt. But we know what to do in the booth! Well done Kambwili.

  7. Zambians never stop to amaze me. Whether genuine or not, this is a good cause. Honourable Kambwili has been to Muchinga, Northern, Chipata to mention but a few giving out cheques for youth empowerment. Are you telling me that now that we’re in a campaign period, government/ministers should stop working? Let’s be civil the way we articulate issues. Youths in this country need to be empowered and thus such efforts should be encouraged. Well done Kambwili and your ministry.

    • come the 20th of jan 2015. the pf youths will do donti kubeba on kambwili (hoe) and pa fwaka (pf). what a confused government of the day. chiluba said it that sata is only fit to be a district governor, not party leader or national president. what we see in pf now is confirmation of what chiluba said.

    • Iwe,should it take the entire Minister to go and give out cheques? This is the job of the provincial PS or even a mere director.Because the process is highly politicized, beneficiaries do not feel compelled to repay the loans at the end of the day.

    • Pakwalu Manyane you are very dull, cant you see that this is vote buying, cant your small brain work out the simple maths here – farmers who toiled to produce what your relatives are eating are still not paid but the so called youths (Kambwili’s **** mates are getting freebies) Remember how Kabimba wanted to expose neckless about giving money to his girl friends?

  8. You will be shocked if HH will ever make you rich, meanwhile you continue suffering whether he rules for the next 50 years, you will prove me right, just work extra harder on your own.

  9. Pakwelu wayivela politics yakuluma!! Where has your mental retarded Kabwili been all along for him to travel at such a speed to dish out money to youths in our country?? You amongst the rejecties who steal our money!! Now you’re in for it! Zambians are stupid like you backward thinkers. I’ll be back for you!

  10. Pakwelu and your mental retarded kabwili!! You think we are stupid not to know what your fellow foolish kabwili is doing!! He already said north westerners are foolish and he’s thinks just that!! Zambians are not stupid!!

  11. Wise, I urge you to repeat your words on 22nd January, 2015. You’ll die a dreamer if not careful…… We believe not in stories but tangible thing. If you are not visually impaired, you’re able to see the many tangible things that the PF govt has done and is still doing. Watch the space….. Viva Edgar Lungu, While others are busy dreaming and making wish lists, PF will be busy living and implementing its dreams…..

    • So that is why you people are not campaigning? Who seems to be dreaming, pf who thinks because they won in 2011, they again win this time without campaigning but continually insulting their opponents or UPND who because they have a vision, they have gone flat out campaigning?

  12. We need proper guidelines, it’s unethical to behave in this manner. PF was in power for how long? And now is time to handover cheque?

  13. And I thought Minister Kambwili had class!! How do you bribe people in broad day lights? Why was the money not released all this time? And what projects is the money aimed for? People, vote for progression, future and not short term solution.

  14. HONOURABLE GOOD JOB.

    IGNORE THESE FOOLS RANTING…

WHY ARE THEY ANNOYED WITH EMPOWERING YOUTHS…

ALL THEY WANT ARE EMPTY PROMISES FROM THEIR ICILEMA
