With the demise of Mr. Sata, unprecedented corruption is mounting in the PF as they work hard to beat off strong opposition to their continued stay in power.
Such is the threat of a high possibility of losing the January 20th elections that Mr. Edgar Lungu and his PF have, unprecedentedly, wholly and wholesomely accepted the endorsement of Former President Rupiah Bwezani Banda, a man who is facing charges of gross corruption in our courts of law, a man, who, a few days ago was on a campaign trail for the presidency under the MMD which as always he corruptly hoped to bulldoze until the courts favoured Dr. Nevers Mumba.
Mr. Sata should be turning in his grave to see the man whom he fought so hard to win the 2011 elections now be the ‘saviour’ and financier of the party. PF has indeed been auctioned, not to the highest bidder, but to the most corrupt bargainer. Rupiah Banda’s manoeuvres in the past weeks are clearly a sign of a lack morals, and they do not befit a statesman many thought he was. Many would now agree that indeed Rupiah Banda deservedly needed to have lost the 2011 elections.
The looting, corruption, thieving and all the ills of governance under his watchful eye such as the murder of people in Western Province surely reflect the none-statesman stature, and Zambia was indeed better off without him. But alas, he is back.
Now he is back, and at the epitome of tribal and regional politics, he, endorses Edgar Lungu on the premise that he is a ‘young man’. The same Edgar Lungu who ensured that his immunity is lifted in Parliament so that he could be dragged to the courts of a law as a corrupt element today is the darling? Why isn’t Rupiah Banda endorsing the candidature of his party, the MMD, the party under which a week ago he was moving round the country campaigning on? Clearly the old man has no vision, no direction.
He is hollow, shallow. Rupiah sees potential continuity of looting in the PF, and he doesn’t want to miss the looting party should PF win. What else would explain such shape shifting?
Sata must be in pain in his grave seeing his party being used a vehicle for plunder. He must be turning in his grave seeing people he distanced from the governance of his party converging for the loot in the guise of ‘continuity’. Clearly, this endorsement can be viewed as a vote of approval for the proceeds of corruption that the PF has been fighting.
How else would the Minister of Justice accept support from a man his government is fighting for corruption in the courts of law? Or are they birds of the same feathers? It is a cruel irony that a man[Edgar Lungu] whose party has been fighting corruption—or pretended to be—could today with open arms while representing his party be benefitting from endorsement of corrupt elements like Rupian Banda. Edgar Lungu is today doing everything possible to throw away the fight against corruption for political expediency. Is this Sata’s vision that he wishes to continue?
But then, noting the regional nature of Rupian Banda’s politics which is being welcomed well by Edgar Lungu, the celebrations in the PF are that RB has ‘influence’ in Eastern Province, and so all such votes would go to PF. We hope this practice of regionalism coupled with the glorification of corruption will yield the PF’s desired results, and that Rupiah Banda, their new found saviour, will of be good service to the nation should they win.
As we conclude, let us hasten to say that the price being paid for Edgar Lungu’s endorsement by the likes of RB who are in court for corruption, plunder of national resources and the gross abuse of authority during their presidency is simply too heavy. What we are likely to see is that these corrupt elements in our society have now secured perpetual immunity from prosecution by anti-graft bodies. There is no justice when a band of thieves and thugs wine and dine with the Justice Minister.
Sata’s vision as continued by Edgar Lungu is indeed a strange vision.

There is no disputing RB’s reputation. However there is no indication that there is an arrangement to plunder.
The fact is the EASTERN PROVINCE is one to be won. It’s pivotal in these elections. Unfortunately, RB has some clout among the people in that region therefore much as we dislike him, in truth all Parties would have taken that endorsement as a strategy to bag the East.
Sometimes in life one must be able to take on strange bedfellows. You hold your nose and shake hands at a distance or leaning back as far as you can. I am sure PF will not encourage further arrangements with RB if they want to win 2016.

Surely, logic demands that you cannot endorse a party that is prosecuting you in the courts of law. When did Rupiah develop that heart of forgiveness. Is he not the guy who wanted to take Finance from Mahtani and his Ndola cement plant. Is he not the man who wanted to cripple the post. Rupiah is vengeance by nature as depicted by his actions. We shall see whether he will manage to rescue the boat from sinking. He has completely destroyed MMD and as father of MMD should have endorsed MMD to keep the party going. Lungu ‘s ISOKA rally was cancelled at the time when a huge crowd waited for HH until late in the night in North Western province. He had even planned to cancel it but people begged him to go because people had been waiting for him for hours.

Zambia is fast falling in morals. All those supporting RB and EL’s unity are myopic and short of sound mind. No one in UPND is excited by the endorsement of these people. Us in UPND have just welcomed people who have repented and realised that they were in a wrong party.

May I ask those that have condemned RB’s endorsement of EL to demonstrate to here by showing the Chiefs in Southern Province meeting candidates like Mumba, Chipimo, Nawakwi, Miyanda, Sondashi, and the rest. Who really is regional in mind-set? UPND or other parties? HH was in Eastern Province and was received by a prominent Ngoni Chief. HH was in Kasama and he met the Paramount Chief, was that regionalism?
By those two examples alone you can see that people from the Northern and Eastern don’t practice regionalism as such. So any example of a Tonga Chief who welcomed or even commented or expressed encouragement of any other candidate?
So why cry if Easterners support EL or Northerners support NSM? Don’t throw a stone when you stay in a glass house!
