In a country with so much potential, it is unacceptable that so many Zambians are still struggling to obtain the basic necessities of life.
Under the PF’s watch, the cost of living has increased dramatically. They promised more money in your pockets, but under their government that money is worth less.
Removal of the mealie meal subsidy without warning or a strategy to keep prices down and provide assistance to the vulnerable was irresponsible. The removal of fuel subsidies quickly led to an increase in food and transport prices that has damaged local businesses even while the price of crude oil on the international market has reduced by almost 35%.
To add insult to injury, it is unclear how the money supposedly saved in subsidies was spent, particularly at a time when the PF government has built up a lot of debt but farmers have gone unpaid and students have seen their allowances delayed.
To address the high cost of living we are proposing a combination of short and long term measures. In the short term we must reduce the price of fuel, as it has reduced significantly on international markets in recent months, lift the wage freeze and lower the price of food. By lowering fuel costs we can actually stimulate our economy and help create an environment in which Zambian businesses can move forward and drive growth.
In the long-term, we will sustain a lower cost of living through improved education, investment in agriculture, and better economic management, meaning less waste and more investment in our people.
Inaction or complacency is not an option. If we do not do anything, costs will continue to rise and more Zambians will fall under the poverty line.

Standard of living will never drop because we don’t produce all our food, building material etc. if we did produce food we could control the prices but we have carrot coming in from South Africa. We use forex for carrots. Secondly our currency depends on the dollar. We don’t have a strong currency.
There another factors too. Fuel price might reduce globally but we are landlocked and have to bring it in. Even the oil pipeline is a problem as it has never been maintained. Added to this greedy politicians want to take a cut on fuel deals.

Deputy Minister in the office of the vice- president Edgar Lungu is still on suspension from the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ).
Lungu was banned from working as a lawyer in Zambia for stealing clients’ money.
In July 2010, LAW Association of Zambia (LAZ) legal practitioners committee banned Edgar Lungu of Andrea Masiye and Company from practicing law.

Oil is now selling at $49 a barrel, the price has dropped by 50% in the last 6 months on the international market but the price in Zambia remains at an extortionist high equivalent of $100 a barrel! ERB is a scam arrangement!

We will drop the fuel price to suit the crude oil price. Some Traders on the market will see an opening to make profit on volumes hence reduce prices. This will have a down ward spiral effect on prices until the lowest economical prices are reached. Basically all commodity prices will drop in the ranges of 30 to 40 percent. The cost of production will drastically come down. International manufacturing companies will flock to Zambia such that we will not have enough labour to man these factories. We will need foreigners to help us in the shout to medium team. PF has not seen this as the can not plan
