DR Congo and Cape Verde record midweek friendly draws

Share

Zambia’s 2015 Africa Cup Group B opponents Dr Congo and Cape Verde were in action on Wednesday and drew in their respective friendly games.

In Yaounde, DR Congo came from 1-0 to draw 1-1 with hosts Cameroon.

Franck Etoundi put Cameroon ahead in the 35th minute just 16 minutes after DR Congo striker Dieumerci Mbokani’s goal was disallowed for offside.

DR Congo equalised in the last four minutes of stoppage time after 90 minutes through Crystal Palace midfielder Yannick Bolasie.

This was DR Congo’s only scheduled friendly before heading to Ebebiyin next week ahead of their January 18 opening Group B clash against Zambia.

DR Congo have been camped in Cameroon since January 31.

In Seixal, Portugal, Cape Verde benefitted from a first half own goal to finish 1-1 with 2015 Africa Cup hosts Equatorial Guinea.

Cape Verde were unfortunate not to get a win after striker Heldon fired the ball onto the post from the penalty spot.

Cape Verde now fly to Senegal on Friday where they will face Congo-Brazzaville in Dakar on Saturday their final friendly game on their way to Equatorial Guinea.
