President Edgar Lungu has thanked the people of Mambwe district for their support in the just-ended Presidential election which saw him take the highest office in the land.

Speaking when he addressed scores of residents upon arrival at Mfuwe International Airport, President Lungu thanked those who voted for him but stated that he will work towards addressing the needs of all the
people of Zambia regardless of whether or not they supported his election.

President Lungu said time for politicking is over, adding that it is time to work for the development of the country.

ZANIS reports that President Lungu appealed for unity among all Zambians in the development of the country.

The President, who was flanked by his wife, Esther, Justice Minister, Ngosa Simbyakula and his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda, stressed the need to focus on developing the country.

President Lungu touched down Mfuwe International Airport at about 12:40 hours this afternoon.

He was received on arrival by Eastern Province Permanent, Chileshe Mulenga, PF Provincial chairperson, Attan Mwamba and several other government and party officials.

The Head of State is in Mfuwe for a seven-day working holiday.

    • Deserved!

Your Excellency, God bless. After a rigorous campaign, you deserve this working holiday away from the usual political hullabaloo. Go finish the planning for the good of the country. Our unflinching support all the way in troughs and peaks.

      Shalom shalom!

    • Esther, real African beauty, I want to mascara her lashes though! This two bring an energy that the Zambian presidency has lacked for so long. Who are the first family, the country needs to know. Who are Edgar and Ester’s, EEs Children?

    • W T F ! That policeman or soldier in pic No. 2 was giving Easter a “half salute” plus a dirty look showing her no respect at all. He looks like a old lusaka thief in State uniform, ba chola-girl nabo bushe utuma wigi tatubâbâ mutusote? She looks very clumsy if you ask me!

    • YOU THINK HE IS HANDSOME? YOU THINK HE IS CHARISMATIC? HE IS LAZY BONES! HE IS LAZY BOY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE AT MFUWE? GO BACK TO LUSAKA FOR WORK! YOU ASKED FOR IT.

  1. YOU DESERVE A REST. ANY HARD WORKER DESERVES TO HAVE A HOLIDAY. THIS IS WHAT SHOULD EVEN BE ENCOURAGED AMONGST ALL ZAMBIAN WORKERS. HOLIDAY DAY MUST BE FORFEITED IF NOT SPEND FOR HOLIDAYS. AND HOLIDAY DAYS MUST NEVER BE EXCHANGED WITH MONEY. THIS ENCOURAGE LOCAL TOURISM, TOO.

    • @ Senior Citizen, sir do you think it was a good plan for this guy to go to Mfuwe for so called working holiday and yet he has not even formed a proper cabinet. He has left people wondering where they stand, and if they still have a job and he goes to mfuwe, I don’t think so. This is the first time in history anywhere the president takes this long to form a cabinet. When will that time come for us Zambians to follow our fellow neighboring countries and admire their good work. I’m sure by this time I’m writing this he is already drunk. It’s not fair. What about the coming generation, what will be there for them. I dream one day I would be in my motherland living my life, but it’s very scary just to see what’s going on, no one cares about building our country and yet we have all it…

    • @Alexander, understand why this man has taken long to form a government. One thing you should understand is that the man had no idea that one day he will be a president. The ascendance to presidency came abruptly, so it is difficult for him to choose whom he can work with. Apakwambila kabula.

    • His time was up before he came in, he is too desperate to get in the office. That’s plot one. Don’t get me wrong this HH guy I have listened to his talk, he is very intelligent only that us Zambians we don’t see that, I can not make him a president alone, it takes a lot of people to see that. But the problem in our country we would rather listen to someone saying I will put money in your pockets in 90 days. M****** mwe, people are struggling and it will never change. I’m sorry HH , that’s all I can say. Anderson Mazoka was another one who could have made it but our foolish mind don’t get that. Having Edgar Lungu in the office is the way others voted for Chama Chakomboka those days. When I think about our country, I only feel sorry for the new generation, and for those with nothing.

    • Don’t be in a hurry to to do things but follow what the spirit is guiding you. You talk of HH all the time is he President of the country? There are other presidents positioning themselves for 2016. Lungu will continue until after 7 years and more. God bless all negative talkative please.

  3. What’s the condition as in temperature in zambia this time, this Guy is wearing a leather Jacket. His wife know the temperature better than him she is wearing short sleeve. Bwafya kumwesu with dressing.

    • At least we once again have a leader who can go for a retreat to plan and refresh. Some of the comments am reading that he has not teamformed cabinet yet so what? forming cabinet should not like forming a management of your little family business.

One good thing I have liked about HE ECL is that he is spending time to think through issues. HH was always in his campaigns just saying I, I, I, I, that is not a good sign. Running a government is beyond I. Its about building a team. Not I always, I wonder what types of government he could have formed. Full of self!

HE ECL even now that he is President you can still see that he is talking with humility and respect of others. That his 21st century leadership.

  4. This is really laughable imagine being appointed as a CEO of a struggling corporation for you to take a vacation after two weeks in the job…where is the struggle? These lazy politicians have it easy and some have never worked for a decent firm or properly run a successful business.

    • A good CEO of a struggling company would not just walk into the company start mawala. He would certainly fail. A good CEO would take a deep review of the situation in which the company is and break down the challenges into manageable chunks.

Mawala that is why most of you fail. Too much excitement leads to failure. HE ECL is not excited but humbled to lead and would like to make a difference and to do that he needs to understand more about the challenges and deal with the real issues.

    • And how do you think struggling firms are turned around business history replicate with examples of large companies being turned around …today some of those companies are house hold names.

  5. @Jay Jay Zambia is not struggling!!keep on dreaming there abroad.Edgar Lungu deserves a rest and after a tense 3months here since Sata’s death!!i know it pains seeing a man you in opposition called all sorts of names in state house!!!EL is 6th Zambian president while your tribal HH who thinks he is the best Zambian in terms of everything is still rotting in opposition!!!IN 2016 WE’LL USE A NEGA NEGA FORMULA IN FAVOUR OF PF,SO PREPARE FOR A 5TH RUDE SHOCK FOR YOUR TRIBAL HH!! ENJOY YOUR STAY IN MFUWE PRESIDENT LUNGU!!!GO PF GO!!!

  6. The headline should be: CHIEF GOV’T PEST HE E. LUNGU ARRIVES IN MFUWE. Barely a fortnight after being elected, the chief govt Pest has gone on holiday as he pests on tax payers money. Meanwhile, govt has failed to assist a woman of Mbala afflicted with cancer after repeated appeals. But we the citizens will take it up and make donations as we care for our own sister.

As a solution to address the pestilence in govt, we have identified that the best pesticide would be VX gas as voting may not be effective due to rigging.

    • Ha ha ha ha Chakubaba to see HE ECL moving methodically putting things in order!

Wapya munzi, 2016 my friend it will be worse for you because the apathy which gave you a bit of hope will not be there especially in PF strongholds. Once beaten twice shy.

It will be complete white wash baba!

  7. Bonnes vacances & Bon Voyage!

Enjoy you deserved rest your Excellency.

First Lady looking good in that mustard yellow with browns and whites.

    God Bless our President!
    God Bless Zambia!

  8. Some people never ever learn the selfsame people who made excuses for Sata’s incompetent leadership and absentism are they selfsame people supporting this…laziness! !

    • Fellow Zambians a retreat is a clear management strategy and it has its place. The timing of this retreat is strange to say the least. A retreat is a way of regrouping for managers or CEO to review the progress which would have been made or not made once the initial plans have been implemented. In this case what activities have been implemented for His Excellence to review or re-strategize on? This has nothing to do with the concept but the timing. Anyways, 7 days is not long. Let us wait and see what will be the out come of the retreat as he tries to move the country forward.

  9. I know a lot of people are saying Lungu is so far doing well in terms of his appointments. My sincere advice is let Lungu not be cheated by those advising him the likes of Ruphia Banda turn against those Late saga appointed for the seek of unit and winning in 2016. They are people who may join Kabimba and turn the PF strongholds towards Kabimba or UPND
Northern or Muchinga provinces are very unpredictable historically therefore ED must not over look those who may not have supported him or leaving PF senior members to outsiders. It will be too risky under taking. ED has one and half years to rule and that is not enough looking at his age

  10. After the vents of the last few months, it is fathomable that he might need a break. Its a week off guys, also dont forget that he has been an active minister over the last year and may not have taken annual leave last year due to sata’s health issues and other pressing matters. I am not his biggest fan to be honest, but in the interest of fairness, everyone, including newly appointed presidents need a short break. He isnt going to be viewing wildlife but will also be dealing with national issues while at it. I’d rather have a rested rational president who can make sound judgements, than an overworked, erratic one.
He hasnt gone shopping with the mrs in new york or paris, this is the equivalent of a US president going to Camp David.

  11. The bar had been so low for presidential performance that even mediocre moves by an ordinary guy look grand. It no surprise we have no problem walking through littered streets in town. Zambians, lets demand more from ourselves!

  12. I knew that alot of imbéciles will agree with this trip, Africa is full of stupid people who uses their bozzy to think. How do you leave your house to lazy around before providing for them. Am seeing à replica of Alaaaabeee in state house.

  13. If its a choice between a hastily assembled cabinet, or one assembled after very careful consideration….I WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE THE LATTER. I dont want a situation were after 2 weeks, someone if fired, because Zambia cant afford experimenting with ministerial positions. It’s ok for Edgar to take his time to appoint the right people in the right ministries, because they have to hit the ground running – 2016 draweth nigh.
As long as the above, is the reason His Excellency is takin his sweet time, then its ok…and I applaud it.
Over the issue of 7 day working holiday, well; let me just say, sometimes its good to retreat from the daily hussle and bussle of life. This country needs a fresh way of doing things.

  14. What holiday? It is time to work now. Is so difficulty to come up with cabinet that one goes for holiday. I hope is not like other people who need a full day of thinking or even a week of thinking.
