FIRST Lady Mrs Esther Lungu has cancelled her trip to the United States of America. Mrs Esther Lungu was supposed to be one of the key speakers along His Excellency Ban Ki Moon and Melinda Gates at the launch of the UN Secretary-General’s progress report on the global strategy for women’s and children’s health 2010-2015.

Mrs Lungu was scheduled to leave for New York last night via Dubai using Emirates Airlines. However, yesterday,President Edgar Lungu collapsed during the International Women’s Day celebrations at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

President Lungu later delegated his authority to Minister of Gender, Professor Nkandu Luo to take charge of the remainder of the women’s day parade.

Doctors made a provisional diagnosis of low blood sugar possibly due to malaria. Due to this illness, President Lungu was forced to leave Heroes Stadium earlier than planned.
Doctors at Maina Soko Military Hospital have since conducted comprehensive medical check-ups and observed the President. The President was treated for malaria and fatigue and was advised to take some rest.

  1. You are naive if you think there is not something more to this.
    Mr Lungu must very ill.

    Thanks

    • I like this first lady. She stays by her husband when he is ill instead of going to bootlick some westerners who are looking out for their own interests in Africa.

    • The first lady got the message that she wouldn’t survive our lovely weather we are experiencing this winter. It’s very uncomfortable for outsiders coming from summer time.

    • well done mama Lungu, that’s the way to Go and if he continues to be sick, tell him to sit down, no need to be pressurized. History is already made as 6th Zambian president. Don’t follow the Sata family nonsense of forcing the man to work just because “they all”,(Dr Kaseba, Mulenga, sampa etc) wanted to be presidents.

  2. So its true he collapsed… Why do people deny this? I thought the ZWD was exaggerating the incident. We wish the president quick recovery and good health

    • TO COLLAPSE BY THE WAY DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN TO FALL DOWN. IN MEDICAL TERMS IT SIMPLY MEANS A SUDDEN BREAK DOWN IN STRENGTH OR HEALTH THAT AFFECTS FUNCTION.

  3. Dear Friends

Edgar Lungu is showing serious openness with the presidency, he needs our prayers, so that he recovers fully. We need the transparency to continue, it will solve even matters of corruption. President Lungu we commend you for your open government policy

  4. Lungu is proving to be a good leader, he is open about his health problem, he needs everyone’s support for healing including those of us who did not vote for him. transparency is a good way to govern people no speculation. President Lungu we pray to the Almighty God for quick healing,

  5. If the First Lady has cancelled her trip to New York, it is clear Mr Chagwa is gravely ill. He may need a serious dialysis before the unfortunate happens.

    • You people will critise regardless. Had she gone you would have said she doesn’t even care about her husband, how can she leave him bla bla bla. She decides to stay apparently that’s an issue too because now “Edgar is gravely ill”. Mama Lungu. Well done for cancelling!

    • Brethren a good wife will always care for her husband. America is in coming to an end she can always go there next time. Not what we experienced in the past where your sisters were busy living their husbands to fend for themselves. Esther keep up the good work. GP

  6. Lusaka Times, She is not Mrs Esther Lungu; rather, she is Mrs Edger Lungu, or Esther Lungu (Mrs), or simply Esther Lungu.

  7. PRIOR TO ELECTIONS LUNGU CAME OUT SAYING HE WAS FIT AND HAD NO COMPLECATION ABOUT HIS HEALTH, BUT TODAY BECAUSE HE HAS COLLAPSED ALOT OF STORIES ARE COMING OUT.ANYWAY WE THANK GOD FOR SAVING HIM AND QUICK RECOVERY CHAGWA AGWA

  11. Congratulations Amos Chanda. According to Dickson Jere’s book you need a sharp witted spin doctor @ state house to do PR & so far Amos has been brilliant.

  12. Caring wife! That’s an example of a caring wife,we all wish the President good health and what ever the reason for his sudden I’ll health we pray for God’s hand in it…

  13. Prov 10:19
“When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise”

    Prov 17:28
“Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.”

Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God”….

    Prov 21:23
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.”

    Psalm 34: 12-13
“Who is the man who desires life And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceipt.”

This is the Word of the Lord. AMEN.
