Nkana escape from Konkola with draw

Nkana and Konkola Blades on Saturday settled for a goalless draw in a FAZ Super League Week Two match played at Konkola Stadium.

Nkana were attempting to beat Konkola for the first time in Chililabombwe in 14 years.

Both teams missed several chances in this match watched by a huge crowd in Chililabombwe.

Nkana created the first serious opportunity with defender Given Sinyangwe heading Simon Bwalya’s corner just over the bar in the fifth minute.

Konkola came close to scoring in the sixteenth minute when Mwila Kabwe hit the post from close range with only keeper Scott Ngokene to beat in a one-on-one situation.

This was the same story in the last half as both Konkola and Nkana continued to miss one chance after the other.

Second half substitute Josphat Kasusu who replaced Simon Bwalya saw his goal mouth bound low shot cleared on the line by Konkola defender McDuff Chungu with keeper Stephen Kabwe completely beaten in the 80th minute.

Despite earning their first point of the new season Beston Chambeshi’s side remain winless and are yet to score in the opening two matches.

On the other hand, Konkola increases their tally to four points from two matches.
