Power Dynamos will miss Ng’onga

Share

Power Dynamos deputy coach Anderson Phiri says the Kitwe club will miss striker Alex Ng’onga who is on the verge of joining Gabonese side CF Mounana.

Ng’onga last week travelled to Gabon with the hope of completing his proposed move to Mounana.

Mounana are courting the Zambia striker following his impressive performance in the recent CAF Confederation Cup meetings with Power.

“We are going to miss the boy” Phiri said.

He,however said, Power have enough cover for Ng’onga who has been instrumental at Arthur Davies in the past two seasons.

Phiri believes on loan striker Felix Sunzu of Green Buffaloes who grabbed a brace at the weekend will fit well in Ng’onga’s shows.

“You see it is a good replacement. You saw (on Saturday in the match against Napsa)he (Sunzu) was there for the team,” Phiri said.

In Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Napsa, Sunzu and Jimmy Ndhlovu were used as first choice strikers.

  1. As a Power Dynamos supporter, I appeal to the club’s executive to assist our players to choose proper destinations for professional football. Julius Situmbeko almost ended up at a club in Kenya. South Africa, France or even China would have been better destinations for a player of Alex Ng’onga’s caliber. The tendency by Zambian players to rush for money at the expense of their careers is not only forcing them into early retirement but also affecting the potential of Zambian football to move to a higher level. Dabwitso Nkhoma, Emmanuel Zulu, Masautso Tembo and Perry Mutapa are examples of players who could have gone very far in their careers. Sadly, they made bad choices and went into oblivion.
