Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Panji Kaunda says government has no plans of disbanding the Zambia Police Service traffic section.

Colonel Kaunda said the Zambia Police traffic section is an important
department and that it will continue operating its national duties as prescribed by the law.

The Deputy Minister revealed the development to the Zambia News and
Information Services(ZANIS) in an interview in Lusaka today.

Col. Kaunda said the Zambia Police Service traffic section will continue working tirelessly and closely with the Road Transport and Safety Agency(RATSA) in regulating the road sector in the nation.

He said what was needed is for the traffic section to re-organise itself to ensure that it serves the road users to their
satisfaction.

Col. Kaunda said the issue of the Zambia Police traffic section is a
management issue which will be dealt with in the shortest possible
time.

He explained that government was doing everything possible to root out
corruption in the Zambia Police traffic section in order to bring sanity.

Col. Kaunda said the few corrupt individuals at the ZP Traffic Section
will be flashed out of the service because they are there to serve the people of Zambia professionally.

Some concerned stakeholders have been advocating for the disbandment of the ZP Traffic section so that the mandate remained with RTSA which is viewed to be discharging its duties professionally to regulate the road sector.

  1. ….then draw a distinctive line between ZP traffic officers and RTSA and also highlight the intersections…..to avoid conflict of responsibilities….

  2. Just completely retire everyone from top to the constable then recruit new officers if you have to use trainers from UK …to train them in modern crime fighting methods; get rid of deputy ministers and use the money to buy the modern patrol cars and equipment like proper body armour, radios, glock side-ons etc.

  3. If you cant disband them, then resign Minister, because you are presiding over the most corrupt entity inthe world and don’t pretend not to know.

    • i thought Davies Mwila new home affairs minister was going to do the zambian public huge favour when he announced “no more road blocks.” Shockingly the corrupt officers on earth from our ZP have increased their corrupt road blocks mounting further with more viciousness in extorting money from the public.
Panji says the traffic section will continue working tirelessly- tirelessly indeed in extorting and corruption. why is this section so supported by officials from the top, all the time. ZP is the most corrupt traffic section on the planet.

  4. If you can’t disband them, then resign Minister, because you are presiding over the most currupt entity in the entire world and don’t pretend not to know

  5. Chuck Charie at it again. The only thing he knows is being a traffic thug. Thank Sata and Lungu for giving you something to do while your land is yawning at Sindamisale. Why not give us a break?

  6. zp traffic are important wait till u are involved in an accident thats wen u will see how important they are. Problem with us zambians we dnt follow road rules

  7. See its not only about them mounting road blocks for their selfish motives…but their behaviour too is a problem…they act like they dealing with drug lords and criminlals…infact wen the situation is jus minor traffic offences…by mounting road blocks they r reducing work effieciency and causing more traffic to the already congested roads….how can our economy florish like this…people cannot finish their wrk because of getting stuck into traffic congestion…please let’s not behave like we are living in the 10th century… Higher authorities should take point plz instead of turning a blind eye….be professional….let’s behave like how a christian is suppose to behave…trustworthy honest etc

    • Let them reduce the penalty fee so that when one pays he demands for a receipt, period.Minimum k50 so that the money goes in police coffers and not ending in there pockets.
