Patriotic Front (PF) youths in Lusaka District have called on the private sector and individuals to supplement the Lusaka City Council’s efforts in cleaning the capital city.

PF Youths Representative Max Chungu says there is need for all Lusaka based firms and residents to get involved in efforts aimed at cleaning the city to help reclaim the status of: “ The Golden City.”

Chungu explained that the youthful residents especially need to expend their energies in contributing meaningfully to cleaning up the City as part of their contributions to national development.

Mr. Chungu said leaving the cleaning of the City to LCC alone will not achieve desired results due to constraints the local authority is facing.

The PF youths started the cleaning exercise from Northmead Total Filling Station and covered businesses around Melisa Shopping Mall.

The exercise will be routine venture and will soon spread to other areas.

With an ever increasing population in the Capital and limited resources, the Lusaka City Council faces mountains of challenges of cleaning the City to the expected standards.

Mountains of uncollected garbage and worn public buildings and stores especially in main business district are an eyesore to both the local authorities and concerned residents , alike

  1. Let the PF cadres clean up their own mess….its PF and it street vending policies which turned Lusaka from a golden city to a dirty city.

  2. How dare they call on bussiness people and residents to clean up their mess, not only should they clean up but vacate the city altogether.

  3. Cleanliness is supposed to be an individual attribute.most Zambians are naturally dirty.their attitude towards disposing rubbish is barbaric.you can meet a grown up man or woman disposing rubbish on pathways without concern.it’s like you need a white man to teach you right in your homes.just what is wrong with a black man?

  4. Why choosing northmend instead of city market or kalingalinga. The price of street vending moreover these traders dont even contribute anything to the councl

  5. Good try. However as they are busy cleaning others are also busy dumping rubbish behind them. You have to first change people’s mind set to stop throwing litter anyhow or you will just be wasting your time.

  6. PF youths decide to do some positive like cleaning up the city and instead of commending them, there is widespread condemnation from most bloggers! What do you guys want – to have PF youths idling and being a nuisance in the kombonis?

  7. What about the illegal squatters?who wil clean them up?they have no sanitation,no water and no electricity in the mushe milling area.Who will clean them up?
what about the ones roasting meat in the middle of cairo road?

Mr Chungu get youre priorities in order first..

  8. I think it is disappointing to not that some Zambians ? Don’t give credit ware it belongs ,Chungu you are doing a good think . Keep it up there is alloways a start point.

  9. this is akalilo bamambala insala yabengelila that is a gimick their target is trading centres so that they start overcharging the poor masses.

  10. I feel duty bound to comment. Every day we ask that young people must play a role in national development and these seem to hear what we say and then citizens want to pour scorn on them. This is retrogressive. We must encourage these young people instead of vilifying them for stupid politics. This is a very welcome Initiative and every well meaning Zambian must commend and jump on the bandwagon. This country will only develop wen we put politics aside, stop yapping everyday and for once make a contribution without expecting to get political capital
